Aningan: I'm ok with most of it. Except the excessive amount of bitching. I'm not ok with that.
This! GOG forums took a horrible route recently... I'm not a friend of pointless Steam comparisons, but General Discussion feels more and more like Steam Community, which I NEVER use (even if have a Steam related question) because it's full of butthurt idiots.

I just wanted to find this weekend's promo thread and ask if Wasteland 2 is a good game. On my way to this thread I clicked a couple of other threads and found nothing but idiots (worst example is this one) and countless threads with bitching (people rage quitting GOG because of the shelf view, people throwing around "You're gonna sued for false advertisement" crap because of speculated Witcher 3 graphic downgrades, etc.). Everyone's in full doomsday mode... And this after we got Warner, Disney/Lucas, Star Trek and a hand full of not so old AAA games (stuff that was impossible to get for GOG) DRM free. The games are what matters and GO's been doing an awesome job with some releases this year. But people throw shit (complain and criticize all you want, but keep it civil, reasonable and don't be aggressive towards everyone who doesn't share your opinion!) because of the game shelf... No, now I don't want to ask stuff about Wasteland 2 anymore -.-

Too much is too much. This place isn't fun anymore. I'm out of here for a couple of weeks/months until everyone's calmed down a bit... or leave for good if the bitching won't stop. Maybe Magmarock was right and we need some "modiration" ;P

Anyway, I still have a couple of gift codes lying around and since TBBBBOB seems to be paused for some more time, I'll just "drop" them here - in one of the few reasonable threads. Quote this post and pick one game if you're interested. First come, first served. Edited posts will be ignored.

edit: last game available
Star Wolves

I'll do a bit of shopping and house cleaning now, so I'll send out codes tomorrow. Sorry to hijack this thread, but I don't want to create some stupid "I'll leave! +giveaway" thread.

ps. I don't know if GOG already started with the gift limit (or even how it works), so maybe you won't be able to redeem it right away.

Seems alright, though we'll see were it will go further down the road...
I like the new shelves. It's a bummer I can't sort them the same way I did before but ultimately I just split up my completed games from my uncompleted games anyway so it's not that different. I don't think I'll ever use galaxy so that doesn't bother me either.

For what is worth Wasteland 2 is a fantastic game if you like good old games ;)
It's not perfect, not by a long shot, but you'll get that feeling you got from playing Fallout the first time (if you did play Fallout). For me it's actually too good. After wasting a few nights on it during work days, I had to step back for a while. If a game is too addictive I feel the need to break that addiction.

I like the idea of TBBBBOB so I won't partake in code dropping but thanks for the generosity!

Sadly, I feel the same.
Lately I'm seeing so many users -both new and old- being abusive, disrespectful (when not even gratuitously hostile), "insanely reactionary" (read: people who criticize every change, regardless of the resons behind it and for the most absurd motives), trolling, deliberately misinformative and sometimes even purposedly trying to discredit GOG while advertising other stores to let me feel open to attack each time I write anything, no matter how stupid. This does not happen to me very frequently at all, yet I see many others being victims of this kind of behavior.
In the last few months, I interacted with other GOGgers almost only via the now deceased PM...

I'm not sure the situation will turn back as it was, though. I think that if it doesn't a few weeks after the realease of TW3, it will never improve, either.

Edit: Btw, Wasteland 2 is a great game! There is always plenty to do, and your choices and interactions with each faction work like pieces of an ever-changing puzzle. Fargo wasn't liying when talking about interactivity, even if the outcomes of each action are often quite predictable.
The combat is very satisfying, combining RPG and TBS generes à la X-COM, and the various difficulty settings can provide for both a pleasant easy trip and a real challenge.
I say it is woth its price, especially now that the new edition has been announced (free for everyone who already own the previous one).

Right as rain. I am honest too. If client becomes forced. If client starts hounding the games. If DRM ever come to GoG. I am also off the boat.

I can live and manage somehow with regional pricing in the picture. But i am here for ABSENCE of DRM first and foremost, ABSENCE of client or third party program (i merely use it voluntarily at least for now since it doesn't impose on us) and freedom.

This gets f*cked, we get f*cked. Let's hope they keep things straight.
Eh, it's not the changes or whatever that bothers me, it's the apathy from whoever is making these decisions, i imagine if we all had a plane crash and landed on a desert island, our discussion would be:

Gogger 1: We need clean water.
Gogger 2: We also need some food.
Gogger 3: Agreed, i'm taking gogger 4 and 5 and look for some shelter so that we ca...
Gog team/Ceo/whatever: WOW WOW WOW calm down guys, i'm the leader here, Gogger 1 get some water from the ocean, Gogger 2 search for something shapped as ball so that we can play football and the rest can stay here with the plane, just ignore the flames and the fuel leaking.

AnimalMother117: I liked having the shelf and having the games arranged by genre...
Not suggesting that it is a perfect replacement or anything like that by any stretch, but the new shelf lets you filter by genre. It doesn't actually work right now as the games are not all properly tagged with the right genres, but the general idea is there and should work better once they sort out the beta bugs factor. :) In theory it lowers the damage a bit once it actually works. :) Judas is fixing up some things with that right now although I suspect it'll take some days/weeks to process the whole catalogue accurately.

Hey your giveaway of Blood reminded me that the BloodCM remake is still going strong !

I'd like to take it, I need it to live...again.

It's good sometimes to take a break from forums, science has proven than human's patience for idiocy does have a limit ;)

Wasteland 2 is one of the very few games that got me completely hooked in the last 3 years. I was suck into it and couldn't get out of that spiral before I had played it through and then had played again through the Arizona part, trying everything else. Really worth its price, I'd say.

Do you mind if I take Project Eden?

I'm not worried about losing the DRM-free policy because I can't really see GOG throwing it away, it's not just a notable selling point for them but their more distinctive feature, they have built their business around that. People don't need a wannabe Steam clone when they already have the original one, and that's what GOG would become by embracing DRM.
Sorry for the slight derailing, but since this is about the new GOG/shelf/etc., I think I might even ask here:

Yesterday my account showed a total of 706 games, today it shows 709.

Isn't the unbundling done already, or is anyone aware of other reasons for such a change in numbers?

Thanks in Advance for any helpful answer.
