I don't think anything GOG has done the past few weeks or so has really bothered me. I find Galaxy nifty, though have little reason to use it, and I never invested much time in organizing the look of my library (owning less than 60 games here may have something to do with that).

Maybe I've just grown apathetic or desensitized after The Great Gray Blizzard of 2014, but so far, as long as I can download and play my games, I'm okay with how things are going. (It certainly helps that after a dry streak lacking in what I'd consider "big-name" releases - mid-2013 to mid-2014 - that could help GOG grow against Steam, we got a downpour of LucasArts classics and other fantastic titles.) And if at some point in the years to come GOG does decide to force Galaxy on us (I'm well aware they could decide to make it non-optional at some point), I'm not afraid to torrent/go elsewhere/buy direct. (I'm not someone who really worries about backing up his games.) For now, however, I'll continue to NOT torrent games b/c I want to support GOG and avoid giving publishers ammo for DRM.

Also I don't have a computer able to run Witcher 3, nor would I spend $60 on probably any game, so the hullabaloo over the downgrade or CDP lying or whatever doesn't really bother/affect me. I'm just sayin'.
I liked having the shelf and having the games arranged by genre...

I'm with you for the most part, with the exception of cracked games should things here go to crap.

And at the same time, look at the games that have appeared here in the last month. A little bit of library shuffling is small potatoes compared to the titles that we can now purchase DRM-free. Hell, we just had the 1,000 game mark, what, 6 weeks ago? 1,087 as of now.

Perspective, folks, perspective.

The best part of all that is that complaining to GOG about CDPR is like yelling at a kid about how their dad slept with your sister. GG, you've missed the point and made a scene for nothing.

I panicked. Then I handled it.
I feel basically the same way. I got upset over various changes, but after a while, I'm fine.
Ultimately I still love the service, still love gog and all, so as long as the games stay DRM-free and I can download all o' muh games then it's all cool.
I never actually noticed the changes til people started complaining to be honest. I'm not seeing what the deal is.
Changes have been fine to me too.
The recent happenings with paid mods serve to remind us that even "untouchable" companies like Valve can make horrifically anti-consumer choices. I don't see how GOG should be regarded with any less scrutiny, although I'm satisfied with the current state of affairs. What matters, at the core, remains the same - DRM free :)

To be fair on Valve, there were positive aspects to it. People were just unwilling to consider it. Especially if you saw the crying on the Steam forums. Anyway not going into that... AGAIN! >_<

What remains at the core is that they keep releasing good games... :P
I think most of the criticizing is just resistance to change. But since none of the changes are actually game-breakers, and with time I'm sure most of the things will stabilize my bet is that in about 3-4 months this whole shebang is forgotten.

After a few days of letting these things sink in, I have to say:

I don't care about galaxy. As long as I don't need to use it, I am fine with it and they can do whatever they want with it.

In regards of the website. GOG is still a very good source of DRM free games, but the library changes killed my emotional collectors commitment here. Meaning that I now don't care that much any more to get all the games here in my nice collection. Which is probably good for my wallet since sometimes games can be bought DRM free elsewhere at a cheaper price :D

Considering all the new games here, I have to admit there was not much in it for me, since I owned almost all the interesting ones already on disks. But it is a good developement and I hope for more awesome releases in the future :P

/sigh

First thing I did when I saw that was count the number of monks to see if it would match up with the value given by the bands. v_v

I tend to agree with you.
I really don't see all those bad aspects that many other users are talking about; I know each one may have different visions of what is important and what is not, yet I don't think the recent changes have worsened GOG in any way.
Actually, I like the new library, mostly because it -finally- works, it is much more comfortable than the previous one, it loads much faster (and considering my awful connection, I can do nothing but be grateful for this), and it also allows a quick search. I whish I had that function since the beginning!

I don't relly like the new chat, though, since I can see only a line of what I'm writing and I would prefer to sort the messages in chronological order like beofre rather than seeing who is online first.

For what concerns Galaxy, I'm optimistic: I *know* that sooner rather than later games will be updated there much before a normal installer is available, but isn't that the whole point of the client? As long as GOG continues to release the standalone installers as they did before, I'm fine if Galaxy users get games and updates a bit sooner.
I don't think Galaxy will ever become mandatory, otherwise they will become just like Steam... and for this palce, becoming like Steam means certain death.

For what concerns the supposed TW3 downgrade... I'll see with my own eyes, then I'll write my opinion.
If the downgrade has been so massive as it seems, though, I'm going to be really, really irritated.
When someone deserves heavy criticism, I'll move it, no matter if their name is Valve, Bethesda, Ubisoft or CDProjekt.

Edit: Also, the realeases (both of old and new games) are imo better than ever before.

I'm ok with most of it. Except the excessive amount of bitching. I'm not ok with that.
