Which games are keeping you company this weekend?

Whoa, it's the weekend already?! That means less time spent on meeting deadlines and more time spent on meeting our untimely virtual deaths! Or building stuff. Or solving puzzles. Or scoring goals. Or doing other cool stuff that our fleshy selves cannot (yet) accomplish.

So which games are keeping you busy these days?
Go on, share your Weekend Playlists with us. They can include single-player games, multiplayer games, console exclusives, anything - we are not judging. In fact, we are sharing too!

Looking for some inspiration, perhaps? The GOG.com releases of the week are here for you:

- You can hop around the enchanting, dimly-lit rooms of Lumo
- You can turn hordes of monsters into piles of sweet loot in Torchlight II
- You can revisit a recently updated galaxy and become the new Master of Orion
- You can slice, dodge, and jump your way to your queen in Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight
- You can build unlikely machines that might or might not fly in SimplePlanes
- You can terrorize the streets as the uncontrollable OmniBus
- You can leave your mark in the architectural history of the world in Caesar™ IV

mrkgnao: Ah. I didn't find much occasion for crafting, except for the trivial "arrow shaft" + "arrowhead".
At the moment it's the same for me, just arrows, but I'm hoping to craft more later. But right now I don't have good materials, and the gear they find on the way is fine enough.

avatar
mrkgnao: My Mrkgnao is a fire/earth wizard (with high leadership + lore, mostly from gear); my Mrkrgnao is a wayfarer (ranged + pet pal + a couple of novice skills in witchcraft). I use Jahan (air/water) and Madora (melee + a couple of novice skills in scoundrel). I don't use Bairdotr or Wolgraff at all (except the former to talk to Jareth). Pontius and the Black Cove Crab were I believe the last challenging fights for me.

I didn't get "morning person" for anyone, as they rarely die and the default (20%?) seems fine when they do.
I made Jahan my crafter because he comes with the scientist perk. That+a belt and bracers with +1 crafting +1 smithing, and he is already lvl 3 from both without me adding a single point.
I found archery to be insanely OP, especially the later skills, so I wanted to have 2 in my party. Plus I've always preferred ranged combat over melee in any game.
I've never used a single earth or witchcraft spell, so I skipped those 2 schools.

avatar
mrkgnao: I disabled all character interaction five minutes after starting the game.
I like having companions who have their own minds and not necessarily agree with me in everything, but Roderick was just being plain dumb. It was annoying.
I gave him the Knight AI, and he forced Scarlett to become a Bellegarette!! He allowed Bonnie to blow up!! Just what kind of Knight he was??? :( :(
He now has the Loyal AI. He argees with Scarlett in everything. Much better.
I've been reading a lot of books lately and trying to finish the last three seasons of Miami Vice (though not liking Dick Wolf's involvement with the series), but that's non-related gaming matters.

I've made great progress in Shadowrun Returns, and I may dabble into some more over the long weekend. Since Torchlight II has been released on GOG I figure that I'll psyche myself up for it by playing the original Torchlight until I purchase T2 here. I also want to try out Terraria now that it has controller support.

Since it is a holiday weekend, I do have this itch to pull out my old Sega Saturn and play Sonic Jam, Magic Knight Rayearth and Bust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition. And if I can stomach it...Sonic R...

maladr0Id: ......got started on Remember Me.

Still only about 1/4 in but it's a shame that such a compelling setting and story get bogged down by the dull combat and dodgy optimization :/
avatar
omega64: It had dodgy optimization?
I might be remembering this wrong but I did like that how well you did at the combat influenced the combat music.
Now that you mention it, the music thing does seem to apply. It certainly switches to "triumphant" music when you reach certain vistas and points in your route, which is also quite cool.

As far as the optimization goes, well I'm no expert, but my machine can handle Witcher 3 without breaking much of a sweat and Remember Me loses frames and chops up in certain places (especially during some camera pans/repositionings). I call foul!

Do you have Vsync turned off?
Vsync is a bit weird in that game.
Might be the cause of your troubles.

After some more searching, some people's issues were resolved after unplugging their controllers. O_o
Weird.

Dark Forces is kicking my ass! I can't believe that I beat this when I was younger. It must have been on easy difficulty. I am stuck on Jabba's Revenge and I have tried it over twenty times now! It's so hard. I just got to the last room and died!

I think I am going to have to play some Toonstruck and Persona 4 now to mellow out. That game really got me so frustrated.
I'm gonna try to get the last Galaxy achievement in Strife, then it's onto mixing it up with Torchlight II, Shadows of the Empire, and Momodora 4. I've been enjoying the other games I've got installed and all, but I'm better at starting games than finishing them. =\ I really need to stop adding to the backlog and start hoarding money for a GTX 1080.

LordHammer: Finally managed to drag myself away from the commonwealth to play Witcher 3
Those are two very good places to hang out on a rainy day!
I was going to keep playing Witcher 3 in NG+, but...
After beating the Caretaker and ragequitting the fight with the Wraith, I decided it's just too much of a pain in the ass. Mostly I was just interested in getting a different ending to the main story, and I did that already. I guess I'll just use a save from the first playthrough for Blood & Wine.

Instead, I'll be getting back into Shovel Knight. Had to take a break from it when I got a new graphics card, and didn't have the appropriate cable for connecting it to the TV - and I need to play this one sitting on the floor in front of the TV, like I did as a kid.

I play Shovel Knight on an arcade stick in an arcade cabinet. It's a perfect fit for that. I'm always on the lookout for non-Mame games that feel good on an arcade stick.

As far as this weekend, I recently got the Android versions of Lara Croft Go, Desktop Dungeons, and Evoland. (Mobile bundle). I have been looking forward to trying those 3 on my tablet.
I'm still terrifying the poor mutants in Shadow of Chernobyl with my Kalashnikov. Right now i'm ready to enter the Chernobyl nuclear power plant once again. :D
The Witcher 3. Finished the main game last night, except for one archgriffin I couldn't kill (level ??), and one chest I couldn't unlock; starting Hearts of Stone in a few minutes.
I changed my mind on Strife and played the rest of Spear of Destiny and mission packs instead, glad that pain in the ass is over with. Followed that up by beating the remaining mission packs for Quake 2 over the rest of the week. Not really sure what I wanna play next, kinda want to continue with some shorter FPS games and not anything too long in case Fallout NV or Oblivion shows up soon. Been on a real 90's FPS kick lately. God I miss the 90's, lol.

mike_cesara: I think I walk BloodRayne..
Shadowrun Dragonafall perhaps,
a bit of Space Colony, which I didn't finish before I moved to Linux..
That's the plan : )
avatar
tinyE: I'm sorry but how can you play Space Colony? God I hate that game. Shit, in The Sims you don't have to tell them WHERE to sit and sleep! :P "This is a bed!" DUH!
Does it make you angry?
That's a good enough reason for me!
Honestly, I like the game and didn't get bored yet : )

It just occurred to me I like Surgeon Simulator which means I shouldn't be talking shit about anyone's taste. :P
