Hmm, a wagon's forming on me, with GR joining in for the "claim train."

OK. Revealing my role won't help Town, and won't save me from getting lynched instead of someone who is, you know, actually scummy. But if you insist to know, I need 5 players to confirm they want to know my role. Just quote this post and reply with a yes.

trentonlf: No extra kills at Night so not a Serial killer or Arsonist and those would be the most likely candidate for that (other than a cult and God forbid we have that).
Thanks for commenting on the possibilities for scum. Pondering some things right now and the likeness of it depends on how much investigative clout scum might have at their disposal.

From post #1:

Notes on the game:

The game is Harry Potter themed, but will contain no spoilers (beyond the very obvious; you all know Harry is a wizard, right?). Please do not include any spoilers if you roleplay.

The game won't contain any recruitment/cult elements. Nobody's winning condition will change throughout the game.
So, no cults (the theme allowed for that).

@all: Think about this: From the perspective of scum, they have been trampled. No NK on N2, they lose a member, then they lose another member on D3 to lunch, then no NK on N3.

@GR: Clearly you wish to reveal your true name for the fun of it, not for tactical reasons :D
We are winning this but still we might lose. Why give away even the tiniest edge?

About the role assigned to Percy, it was argued to death and it was accurate according to HP lore and yogs pushed heavily against it and time proved the assumption to be true and yogs lying, and you know all that and now you will say that you have bad memory. Ah, the fun you get ;-)

@Agent: mail.
Bump just in case
THANKS, POOKA!!!

@JoeSapphire

To Lift's credit, when reading

>>Night Three I protected GameRager

The easiest, direct translation was, "used a 1-shot doc spell on GR". At least, that is what was understood, here.

Now, if you say you did not target GR, saying that you did protect him bets on speculating that he was going to be the target ... So you mean that you were targeting someone else...?

What a cliffhanger!! :D

@all: Not seeing what you have for Pooka, others seem way, way more scummy, but YMMV.
avatar
Lifthrasil: Why? What IS wrong with these posts? I just reiterated what you said:
- you said, you protected GR, no one else claimed to have protected GR, so your claim is most likely true
avatar
JoeSapphire: No-one said they targeted GameRager.
Yes, you did. As Carradice just pointed out. Are you now saying, that you didn't protect GR?
avatar
JoeSapphire: No-one said they targeted GameRager.

Lifthrasil: Yes, you did. As Carradice just pointed out. Are you now saying, that you didn't protect GR?
No-one ELSE said they targeted GameRager - who said that GameRager was the nightkill choice?
avatar
Microfish_1: I also have a question about Lift's post,
In that case it would be prudent to ask the question you have. That would facilitate answering it, you know. Just stating that you have a question without saying what that question is, is questionable.

@Pooka: it's your call whether and when you want to claim. Scum, in your position, might try to hint at having a PR and use that hint to avoid having to actually make something up, out if fear that an actual claim would be challenged. Basically what you are doing right now. So your behaviour is consistent with scum behaviour.

It is, however, also consistent with an actual town PR that doesn't want to reveal itself yet for some reason.

Only you know what role toy have and whether it is worth keeping it secret at the risk of appearing scummy. However, I see no reason to withdraw my vote on you just based on your implication that you might have a PR.

You're really not making any sense. Why would scum say that they targeted GR? Is this your first Mafia- game?

-GR revealed himself as Cop
- he didn't die
- no NK occurred that night
--> he was most probably the target

Of course you could speculate that scum just didn't try to kill anyone that night or that GR himself is scum. But the first is unlikely and the second one as well. We know that there's an epic cop and you confirmed GR being epic.
avatar
Lifthrasil: -GR revealed himself as Cop

Yeah based on your reaction and the fact that no-one else is bothered I'm not as excited about it as I was last night,

BUT

I wouldn't assume GR was the target - we had no kill on Night 2 either, so there's some other element in play also.

That you were working with the assumption that GameRager was targeted made me think you knew that he was.

Carradice: @joppo: Yogs started Flocke's bandwagon on #595, while keeping the pressure on Flocke, then eventually left once it was moving forward. It was told at the beginning of D3, on A Sandwich Made of Scum.
Wait, you're talking about how Yogs acted but my question is regarding a statement regarding SPF.
I'm asking because I want you to make that more clear. Given that you linked Joe's behaviour with SPF as a possible clue that Joe is the 3rd scum, I need to confirm that that is truthful and makes sense.

avatar
Carradice: Big question for the knowing: besides having a GF, what other possibilites might there be for the PWr(s) of Scum3?
avatar
trentonlf: From what was revealed so far for scum (Role Cop and a Goon) and what has been revealed for Town (Innocent Child, Bodyguard, and Cop) with possible Town roles of Neighborizer and JOAT I would say scum would have to have something significant. Godfather, JOAT, Roleblocker, or maybe a Strongman. Of those I listed I would think a Godfather or a JOAT. When I say JOAT I don't mean Joe's claim either as he has not been counter claimed for killing SPF or saving GR.

What puzzles me though is if there are only 3 scum why would there be so many Town roles and a Mafia goon? Does not seem balanced so I am skeptical that it's only 3 scum.
I was thinking about that late last night. There's so much confirmed power at Town's hands that Scum must have something good in store. Maybe they have some role cop, but Yogsloth was a role cop already and besides, what difference does it make if they investigate our PRs and don't kill them?
They obviously don't have extra killing power unless it is some sort of late activation power like an arsonist. But that is kinda gamebreaking.
JOAT kinda makes sense, with caveats. If you were scum with those abilities wouldn't you at least roleblock the obvious cop? (More precisely NK him but maybe assume him protected then go for roleblock?) But maybe they used other shots or against different players.
A Godfather makes a lot of sense. With a 3-shot cop, plus lots of confirmable PRs like Joe's and an IC we're able to clear a lot of townies. It makes sense that the scum has something to counter the cop.

I think you read a different post by Pooka than me. When he wrote that "revealing my role won't save me from getting lynched" I saw it implied that he either is a vanilla townie or a weak PR that Town would consider an acceptable loss.

True. ;-) But that would make for fewer posts, and less reading to afflict a later reader with.

[O Gentle Reader from the future, do you not feel loved, knowing that we are thinking of you?]
--------------------
@Lift how did you know, before or without crediting joe's claim, that GR had been protected? I personally see no reason anyone could have known GR was the target. I was (am) an equally valid target.
avatar
ZFR: no one else claimed to have protected GR, and we know that someone did protect him
HOW did you know without Joe's claim???
The rest of your post 1123, which was verifying Joe's claim via the means of outside evidence,
contains

- no one else claimed to have [removed] SPF or claimed to be a PGO or similar, but we know that SPF [was removed].
True, from general knowledge.
- claiming not one but two names is risky. etc
true from general practice.

Again, Joe said he protected GR on N3--after I had claimed (d2) and the night before I was revealed. Would it not be as valid for scum to remove the innocent player (who they knew wasn't lying) just to shut him up on d4 so all his scummy-looking posts wouldn't be scummy, and all his accusatory posts had no weight to them?
Carradice saw GR as maybe a cop, but if I had payed any attention to the breadcrumbs i would have seen it as a watcher with one ability left.

I regret to say this to the man I always read as town (and is always scummy) but you just gave yourself major scum points. Of course, WIFOM would say that this means you are town for once?
i meant [correct quote number this time]

JoeSapphire: no one else claimed to have protected GR, and we know that someone did protect him
I don't think Carradice is scum; as he pointed out, it would be pointless to buss 2 fellow scum so hard and brazenly. It is be his first game here, but he is towny enough and analytical enough that I, at least, am paying attention to him.

currently tossing up my vote for who to take out to lunch today, with 24 hours left.

Could be Pooka, who voted me d1 for 0 good reasons, and ignored/contradicted what we'd said in dms previously (which could be stress/coming down with this bug, or could be scum)
could be lift for this seeming slip (would town yogs have let it slide?)
could be trent, to clear up his misfortune of looking sucm and doubting him. He even said he'd vote himself if he were us.

OTOH, I am leaning towards Lift taking part of a parade of scum, as carradice noted, because while those three posts were posted some time apart (hours, iirc), they sound so similar it could be real code. (At the time I thought the first two were IRL issues and the 3rd (Yogs) was a joke, but it takes a darker look with spf & yogs being scum)

OTO(O)H: 3 scum, with one vanilla and a role-inv seems week vs this. 4 scum seems likely, but where is #4 in that parade of stars?

Would vote trent pooka or lift, kinda don't want to vote any of them but noone has claimed joe to be lying or that they removed SPF.
Only SPF's remover-from-the-game could expose Joe as scum if he is lying.
would the setup be 2 new-ish players (caesar & joppo) & 2 vets (SPF & yogs)? but zfr said dice rolls were used.

@ZFR Vote Lift

Lift 2 - Joe, Micro
trent 1 - Pooka

Not voting - joppo, trent, Carradice, Caesar

10 Players. Takes 6 to lynch.

Lifthrasil: @Pooka: it's your call whether and when you want to claim.
That much is true. Or to put it in better words, my call whether and when to claim is now tied by five people saying that yes, they want to know the role. I'm more than happy to claim immediately if enough people just ask for it. Which gives me a bad feeling about your post. Yes, you acknowledged that it's up to me to claim and when - but that, I already know!

You simply told me that I decide the circumstances of my claim without tossing any coin into the hat (sorry Carradice), and yet you still keep your vote on me. Do you want to know my role or not? Yes or no?
