Beta 8 features a terrifyingly experimental new feature: Game Link.

Using a specially modified version of DOSBox I've been able to transmit the player position from within Might and Magic II over a local network connection and into Grid Cartographer. The result is a fully automatic avatar marker in the editor!

Read about it here and try out the beta too :

No idea what you said there, but I expect it's more or less what I wanted to say too.

Keep up the good work, HiddenAsbestos. Still playing around with the free edition, but I expect I will buy it once I begin the next big RPG (Wizardry 6?).
^^ thanks! ^^

ciomalau: i understand that everybody got to make a living - but 20 dollar for a stupid piece of crap?... and why you add all that junk like bars, levers, torches etc.. most likely people won't need that - also they might need things which you didn't yet make! so a logical thing that comes to mind is to let users design their own custom squares or hexagons - with whatever they need in their game! that way it's less "work" for you and more flexibility to your STUPID clients!.. (assuming you have any... ALSO assuming they're even more stupid than you to buy your crap...)
Thanks for reminding me, I forgot to list the 'custom tiles' feature on the free/pro comparison page.

Well, I think I messed up the reflexive verb tense, but the message should still get through.

An early Pool of Radiance profile for Grid Cartographer is now available.

Getting the position / facing information was thankfully quite easy. The map number was a little trickier and the hard part comes because now I need to work out what map number corresponds to which location - that could take a while since it effectively requires a play-through.

Anyway you can download the profile here and tool around in the starting town.
(I've also provided instructions for how to help flesh out the rest of the game here.)

Awesome new features for a wonderful program! I do have a few questions though.

Does V3 display grid between colored tiles? I like to color code some areas of floors on occasion and the grid doesn't show to distinguish individual tiles.

Have you or do you plan to add more tones available for more color tones to be available? Or maybe shading patterns for the available tones -- for instance diagonal and checkered shading to help differentiate them. It's not super important but I ran out of colors when trying to color code routes through the mines in Wizardry Vi. :(

Does the loyalty discount extend to people that don't have a Fastspring order number for V2? I was eligible for the free upgrade for purchasing V1 on both Windows and Android and you sent me a key for V2. I shamelessly admit that I'm a frugal bastard and the discount would make it that much easier to crack my wallet.

Thank you, very much!

That hasn't changed in the current version 3, sorry. You adjust the intensity of the grid lines which will make them show through better if you're using the semi-translucent 'block' tiles. Can look into a 'draw grid links on top of map' option though, I think that'll do it.

In terms of colours I don't plan to extend past 16 colours, I'm afraid. You could use the new 'field effects' in v3 to add red, green or blue tints over the top -- however in all honesty I'm not sure that'll lead to many new distinct colours.

It sure does, send me a mail here: http://www.davidwaltersdevelopment.com/contact/ with some identifying information like your name, country and v1 order number, etc. if you have it and I'll be able to track you down in my records and get you into the discounted upgrade process.
