A lot of the stronger special attacks have animations that you might find grating if you found the FF series too cutscene-heavy. Otherwise, it's pretty tolerable and the cutscenes usually serve a pretty understandable purpose in the sense that they develop the characters and move the story along at a fairly brisk pace, but it might be a bit much if that's something that gets to you.
It'd probably be harder to make an "HD" version of since it's sprite-based, but it's nonetheless encouraging that they're using the Dreamcast version as a base because it shows a willingness (and ability) to port from consoles. Besides, I'm sure I'm not the only one who told them in their survey that I was most interested in Grandia 1. Hopefully it's just a matter of time.
