if it turns out as disappointing as most "HD" (or fake HD) remakes, then fuck it i'll just emulate the dreamcast... eventually.

not sure if i care about having a harder mode in a game that already takes 99+ hours to beat if you try to do everything innit.

darthspudius: The first game was a JRPG with actual interesting characters. I always considering it quite unique in that regards. Rather than the emotionless emo with spikey hair. :D

227: Hey, spiky hair is important. Many jRPG merchants are only able to feed their families because of the large quantities of hair gel they're able to consistently move.

Ahem. The characters in 2 have different motivations and personalities so as to not retread the "I want to be an adventurer" vibe of the first game, but they seem to have been written by the same person who did the characters in 1. I don't know if they really were, but there's that sense of consistency there.
It reminded me of those good ol Pokémon episodes. Silly charming humour. Man I'd love to play that again.

Impaler26: Wasn't the PC version of Grandia II quite buggy? I hope they also fix the bugs instead of only polishing the graphics.
It'll be a new port based on the Dreamcast version, if I remember correctly.

ThePunishedSnake: I want Grandia 1 :(

cardangrille: Same here, man I loved the original Grandia, I think it was the first game I ever played more than 100 hours without being bored. The skill system was a lot of fun, even though it was sort of a grindfest
I never managed to kill the last boss on PSX. I was costantly wiped out in ten secs, I remember I can't level up for some reasons.
The challenge is still open, I need to defeat that dude soon or later.
Doesn't look too much better than the original PC port, I still have the original on 2 CD's (which have become unreadable for some reason).

I'll most probably buy this on release since I loved this game back in the day.
Snif, that means I won't be able to sell my physical boxed PC copy of Grandia 2 on Ebay for 20-25€, no more quick bucks :(
Woohoo!
Couldn't finish the original pc release due to some fatal crash, so this is great.
How cutscene heavy is this game? Is it as bad as Final Fantasy 6 and 7, or is it more like Chrono Trigger?

6 didnt have that many cutscenes
there are quite a few cutscenes
but not like ff 10 or 13 where the controller is ripped out of your hands every minute
Instabuy for me when it arrives, had it on PS2, those screenshots look really nice!

I actually did find FF6 to be annoying at times (at least until after getting the second airship), and FF7 was just intolerable. (Of course, it didn't help that I was playing the (now) old PC version, which would sometimes crash or take literally forever to load.)

Then, when I played Chrono Trigger DS, the cutscenes were short and to the point, as they should be. (Of course, there is a mandatory button mashing event that drops the game down a few points IMO.)

By the way, I am counting all non-interactive dialogue sequences as cutscenes.
I havent heard of this thanks OP.

I hope that the new PC port will be better than the old one, i got it to run but it crashed constantly on my PC.

I'll just buy the PS2 version of Grandia II as i'm not a fan of "HD remakes". :D
