Welcome to Gold Miner $laughter, Sage103082 !

You are Jeb Webb. You are 42 years old. You're a gold miner and father. Your wife Edna is long dead and gone twenty years this just-passed May, and you don't talk about that to anyone. Her loss has filled you with sorrow and has grown to hate, and all you have is greed in your heart and disdain for the world and everything and everyone in it.

You aren't a successful gold miner at all. Pretty much everyone has more luck than you do, you just have a bum piece of land you think, or you look in all the wrong places, you don't even know, which just fills you with more doubt and the darkness grows within you from all angles.

You love to get drunk and are always looking for anyone willing to come over and give you more of an excuse to drink.

All you care about is getting your hands on the gold. You are driven by greed and a desire for things to try and fill the void that can never be filled for you. You are working with a few others for an equal portion of the findings on the Jenkis estate if you can eliminate Henry and all that stand in your way in getting him to you.

- you are aligned with: trentonlf and oldwino -

-

abilities:

You share a cabin in the hills with those who are aligned with your interests to talk in at Night.

- Invite for Drinks - During the Day you can select two players and have them over to your place for drinks at Night. You will be given a private chat with these players once Night starts.

You can vote during the Day.

- you win if the plot to take over the Jenkis land succeeds.

Welcome to Gold Miner $laughter, oldwino !

You are Beverly Hills. You were born a gold miner's daughter to Billy and Betty Hills. You are the eldest sibling to 5 brothers: Billy Jr., Hank, Hugo, Hal, and Bobby (everyone calls him "Bumpy" because he was dropped on his head as a baby and is daft) , and a young sister, Amanda. You like to call her Mandy, and she HATES it, which you love to bother her with. You wish she were dead and are jealous of her looks and that daddy takes her to work with him while you have to stay home and learn cooking and sewing. You are smart and cunning and have organized with others who share your level of greed and disregard for valuing anything other than gold and the things it can get you with some others. You are working together for a mutual interest and are bonded by a loyalty to greed. You are sure there will be enough to go around if only you can secure the Jenkis estate for yourselves.

- you are aligned with: trentonolf and Sage103082 -

-

abilities:

You share a cabin in the hills with those who are aligned with your interests that you can talk in at Night.

You can vote during the Day.

- you win if the plot to take over the Jenkis land succeeds.

Welcome to Gold Miner $laughter, RWarehall!

You are John Jack Palance Jr. You are 34 years old. People either call you "John Jack" or "JJ." You aren't too sure how you feel about any of that. You were born to your gold miner father John Jack Palance Sr., and your mother Jackie (maiden name Brown.) You have a two younger brothers, Jim, who is 32, and Jay, who is 25. All you've done your whole life is mine and sift for gold in Malloy's Creek and the hills of Exter.

You aren't particularly fond of many people here in Exter, but you don't harbor any ill will towards anyone either, and don't wish anyone to come to any unneeded harm or separated from their rightful property or inheritance. The Jenkis brothers and their father were always nice to you and you will do what you can in the interest of Henry now that he is the only one left in the family.

-

ability:

You can vote during the Day.

- You win when all threats to Henry Jenkis have been eliminated.

---

Welcome to Gold Miner $laughter, CSPVG !

You are Gilbert Sullivan. You are 32 years old. You've been married to Suzy Sullivan (maiden name Smith) for 15 years and you have three boys: Paul (14), Saul (12), and Sam (10.) You run the town trading post. Furs and clothes, pickaxes, shovels, adzes, explosives, lanterns, whatever anyone might need, you keep it in stock in your post. Your house is connected to the post and you are in a centralized area to everyone's homes in the area. You watch people going about their business all day every day, not that there's a lot, but you get more foot traffic going by than most, and you're always at the ready to dispense the goods to whomever may need whatever. You also do some deliveries. Every three months you make a trip to the nearest city, Brainerd, to restock.

You think everyone has a right to their own property if they acquired it by ethical means. You've known the Jenkis family most of your life and know they are were all good people. Of course, each of them came to you at times in need of things and you had many encounters with each of them. And so you will do whatever you can do ensure the property of Henry Jenkis remains his and he remains alive in security that what is his is his.

-
abilities:

Detect - at Night you can select someone and detect whether or not they do anything.

Coal and Ash - One time, at Night before you attempt to detect a target, you can cover your face, neck, and hands in a coal and ash mixture and have no risk of being seen.

You can vote during the Day.

- You win when all threats to Henry Jenkis have been eliminated.

Welcome to Gold Miner $laughter, GammaEmerald !

You are Sheila Briggs. You are 35. You and your husband, Jeffrey, run the town cookery where a large portion of the town come to get a good portion of their meals. You and your family grow and hunt for a good portion of the food that you prepare on a small farm and a good amount of land in the surrounding hills.

Your three sons are Stuart, Matthew, and George, they are now 17, 16, and 15, respectively. They do most of the farming and a lot of the hunting, taught to them all by both you and your husband.

You personally hunt and catch a lot of the game for the cookery and are an experienced hunter with bow, gun, and knife.

Your husband spends some time mining for gold, but not as much as most of the other men here, which is nice for you.

You and your husband are good friends to the Jenkis brothers Henry Jenkis. You are glad to have been chosen to help try and find those who would do him and his harm and take over his land. You are even able lend your experienced hunting skills to the cause.

-

abilities:

- Track - Twice during the game, at Night, you can select someone to track and see where they go, if anywhere.

- Coal and Ash - One time, at Night before you attempt to track a target, you can cover your face, neck, and hands in a coal and ash mixture and have no risk of being seen.

- Vengeful - If it is decided that you are responsible for plotting against the Jenkis brothers and are lynched you may choose to kill someone who accuses you of being involved (someone on your wagon.)

To use this ability, after I have announced your LYNCH in the votecount, bold any sort of kill attempt on any player on your wagon. (examples "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, BOB!!" - "VENGEANCE IS MINE, BOB!!!" - "I take out my meat cleaver and kill Bob!" - or even a simple "vengeance: bob - where "Bob" is the #playername# of the player you wish to use the ability on.)

You can vote during the Day.

- You win when all threats to Henry Jenkis have been eliminated

Welcome to Gold Miner $laughter, Hunter65536 !

You are Dolph Schwartz (previously Schwartzenegger, but when your father immigrated your family name was shortened to Schwartz.) You are 43 years old and moved to Exter 19 years ago. You schooled and trained as a physician back east but the ease and comfort of life in the city bored you. So, you set out west with your family and found the most rough mining town you could find, and you think you found it here in Exter. You are a man with formidable strength to go along with your formidable mind. Not many people mess with you anymore because of your age and reputation, but when they did or do, the combination of your skills has almost always landed you on top in a fair fight.

You've seen the worst of injuries, as steep-hill mining has some of the most horrible and gruesome injuries you've ever seen. You are much-needed and much valued by everyone here, and you enjoy the majority of the people who live here who are similarly-minded in the ruffian ways of living.

Your wife, Maricia, died five winters ago and you have a son Albert, who is your assistant and apprenctices under you, and a daughter Gertrude, who assists with everything you and Albert do and is crucial to everything operating smoothly. They both have families as well. Albert is married to Steph (formerly Myers) and Gertrude is married to Gerald Burke, a pretty decent fellow and gold miner. You have a whole bunch of grandkids as well.

You are concerned for the safety of those who want to help Henry and will do what you can to see his interests are secured.
-

abilities:

- Physician - Three times during the game, at Night, you may visit one player to see if any harm has come to them, and, if so, if there is anything you can do about it.

- Coal and Ash - One time, at Night before you attempt to heal a target, you can cover your face, neck, and hands in a coal and ash mixture and have no risk of being seen.

Formidability - The combined power of your body and your mind give you the ability to avoid two attempts on your life at Night.

You can vote during the Day.

- You win when all threats to Henry Jenkis have been eliminated.

Your a delusional asshole. And don't worry this was my last game of Mafia, I have no desire to play with people like you
wow this should not have blown up like this. I read trents post before I posted and the only difference was the bold on the vote.

I can see the rule says do not edit you can only post again in a new post and it can merge. But accidents happen people have moments where they dont remember until it is to later.

This seems to have blown up from something that was a mistake to a huge implosion on the game.
Oh and I DID HAMMER. I saw trents vote and knew mine would end the day. hence why i posted my drinking pick before I voted the hammer

it is no accident to come back minutes later and intentionally change a non bolded portion to a bolded portion

it's absolutely forbidden and regardless trent's childish overreaction is utterly ridiculous beyond words

-- NO you did NOT HAMMER

trent did not bold his vote

you were 3rd

Oh man, what a mess.... :( This just sucks for everyone involved. >.<

Trent, I totally get the desire to edit a post to fix formatting, but when it's part of a (almost certainly game ending) hammering, wouldn't have counted originally, and would've counted after the edit, then I do get why there's such a harsh penalty. It totally sucks, but if either Gamma or CSPVG had been around to unvote, timing could've really mattered, and the proper thing to have done would be a new post to vote properly. (And I kinda suspect that if the mod would've been anyone other than drealmer, you would've still been upset about the modkill decision, but would probably have accepted it more gracefully.)

FWIW, immediately upon my first accidental formatting-fix edit in a mafia game, I wrote some browser CSS to hide my edit button in all mafia topics, so I'll never unthinkingly edit my posts:
@-moz-document regexp("https://www\\.gog\\.com/forum/general/.*mafia.*") {
.edit_h_EN { display: none !important; }
}

(Heh, had to do major work here to be able to edit my post now to fix gog's formatting of my regexp)

...that is brilliant. I'm going to have to stop being lazy and figure out how to do that for myself. Or maybe just badger Adalia.

If you use Firefox, copy/paste those lines into a file called userContent.css, put in the chrome subdirectory of your user profile. (You'll have to create the file, but there'll probably be a userContent-example.css already there.) Changes to that file will only take effect after restarting Firefox.

Otherwise the Stylish extension (available for both Firefox and Chrome, I think) should allow you to specify custom CSS for specific sites/pages as well. I just don't know if that uses the @-moz-document rule or how else it targets specific urls/sites.
What in tarnation?
:(
Well this happened
Trent had me pocketed, only scum I was probably going to get was wino, so I guess nice job blowing it trent, you could have won
Oh, now I see what was up and why trent announced he was quitting. I agree that a modkill without warning - after allowing edited posts in principle throughout the game - was harsh. But the edit by trent was stupid. He could just have re-posted the vote and hammered. It was the winning mislynch anyhow. After town was so much damaged by meda on Day 1, it was a surefire win for scum anyhow.

By the way: nice distancing between trent and oldwino after oldwinos kind-of-slip. :-) I had my suspicions about Sage and I suspected that one of trent or oldwino might be scum. But not both. I had Gamma firmly as the third scum.

But all in all this game was a disaster. Still don't know what you intended to do on Day 1, meda.

she tried something

it didn't work

people didn't get over it which was the huge problem - either you believe she's town and tried something and it didn't work or you think she's scum who tried something to intentionally cause problems, or you aren't sure - either way you CONTINUE TO PLAY THE GAME instead of go on and on for days "omg you aren't answering questions"

don't understand how people thought she was scum for that

your play was much worse, IMO

why did you reveal yourself? that is what destroyed it ultimately for town, especially when hunter didn't protect you (why?)

but no, it wasn't necessarily over if RW's lynch had gone through, given the setup, Night Actions still had to be done to determine if the game was over or still going
