Xeshra: In comparison to their economy power their manpower is actually pretty solid. Steam got 200-300 times the wealth but only about 3-4 times the manpower.
^ This.
I was on steam for just over 15 yrs b4 I deleted my account, that place has become a toxic waste and has so many concerns including but not limited to censure, deletions, moderator abuse, game moderator abuse, scams/fake games by the plenty etc by now I decided enough was enough b/c that company has become too rotten on the inside :(

I came here instead and has been extremely surprised with how good it all is b/c on steam all u hear is kinda the opposite:s
And not just the store, but the forums, navigation options, store search option and drop downs, wishlist, things like being able to even have a profile or not as an option and ofc all the drm stuff and offline installers(yes i know a few flaws exist there with this but its still a huge gift and something they work on with for prob little to no money to provide).

All this is well done compared to their size and manpower compared to big sites.
I dont know the actual size and numbers but for sure it has to be tiny compared to steam, epic, amazon, microsoft, sony etc.
This is not to be taken for granted, GOG does a lot of things really well with less resources and heavy competition but they seem to stay true and on the path so far, I just hope they can keep at that and not turn too many corners like steam did.
Yes there is room for improvements but they alr do some of that that ive seen and more will prob come.
A few issues too ofc (like whale rock being in their store /squint /evil glare) but nothing that has remotely made me want to run for the hills yet.

GOG is an underrated platform tbh and do it well all things considered, so I wish ppl would stop being so ungrateful all the time! ;(

So, finally new release: Crysis remasters: https://www.gog.com/ru/game/crysis_remastered_trilogy
Not the worst thing to happen as I think.

I have no Steam account since I don't like DRMs and vastly prefer GOG approach over Steam. But I often use Steam community infrastructure when I seek for guide, translation patch etc. It is much better and comfortable on Steam than what GOG can provide atm. Also I can only imagine how beneficial is Steam Workshop is for Steam players. I can see some toxic comments and users there but in general Steam communities made impression of being very helpful.

As for entire Anniversary thing - I'm grateful for what I have. I'm not much interested in Clair Obscure, but it's obvious that lots of people are. I was not sold by Witcher/Cyberpunk gear but it's different thing for another people. From this I got new Tomb Raider games (and bunch of other games that are discounted) and it was my personal small celebration.

Likely because Steam doesn't do curation, unlike GOG, so it makes sense they need a lot of manpower. Looking at the state of the Steam forums and the amount of shovelware or scam EA games, I don't think GOG is in the wrong for not taking the same approach as they do.

That is true that steam is great for guides and such, I use this myself as well as for some of the groups I used to follow, I dont need account to see that stuff:)

Guides for GOG would be a huge plus here, as long as we cant add images (some games just needs this to be of use, such as anomaly games) and sections for a proper guide here, it will still be steam we go to for this sadly.

Some of the game forums were ofc nice with help and the ppl there too, but I think u have been lucky to not see too much of the bad so far ;D
The general discussion page there, holy moly lol. Problem is mainly that they are left unchecked, those toxic ppl are rampart and rarely dealt with, thats just my xp ofc:)

Yes, we got Clair Obscur and the Tomb Raider games, that was a huge gift and I dont expect anything to top that, the rest we see ppl can use or not, its still xtra free/discount stuff we get:)
Couldnt afford Clair this month sadly or much of anything game wise, but next month oh boy! :D

Yes! Once a platform stop using human minds to approve and go through everything rutinely, or if they use ai/bot to reply to tickets, it leaves it all open for rot to sneak in.

Crysis Trilogy today and the biggest field is yet to come tomorrow. Makes me wonder what big bomb GOG has saved for the grand finale if Crysis was just the penultimate offering.

I would like to believe that the first and foremost reason GOG.com has loyal customers is their DRM-free policy.
I am not aware of any other digital store offering a "you buy it you own it" proposition for the entirety of their catalog.

Even almighty Valve had to bend the knee and admit, alas covertly, that you are only paying for a license, a benevolent promise that you will be able to play the game in the future (just trust me bro), before checkout. Offline DRM-free installers remain uncontested and thus GOG.com remains uncontested at the core of their provided service (for the entirety of their catalog).

There might be plenty of reasons for someone to still buy on DRM-injected digital stores, but the will to resist against the impulse of comfort is born by the harsh pains of realizing that you end up owning nothing in return.

Point of fact, GOG.com has initiated a self-funded preservation program for their catalog, a remarkable, courageous and ongoing effort to guarantee that we will be able to run the games we own on modern OS and hardware. Arguably making the ownership of games much more purposeful, with every downloader becoming part of a "certified to run" global archive.

In stark comparison, the King of Kings of digital stores has never bothered with fixing unplayable games themselves, let alone publicly presenting a plan for the end of life of their industry-leading online DRM solution, hard-coded on their Steam client, for all their customers to suffer (worst case scenario, they presume that the yoke of DRM oppression is meant to last forever).

Sure, we all crap on GOG every now and then, out of love of course, but getting more Crysis titles is a major success. Bravo!

Raketenfahrer: So why didn't you buy it last week then, when all parts were discounted by 80% ... for the first time since June 2022 according to gogddb? See eg. https://www.gogdb.org/product/2134354904 for BS3 Legendary Edition.

Oriza-Triznyák: A, i was an idiot who thought the series will be discounted during this sale
B, i'm busy with my work lately
At least you take it with humor. :) I don't know how good the wishlist notification works nowadays, but when I last used it, it informed me when games went on sale.

Apparently the powers that be have summoned Mr. Newell and some other CEOs to "Testify on Radicalization of Online Forum Users" before (US) congress on Wednesday morning:

Will be interesting to see what comes from that.

Oh seeing Crysis on the store is nice. It seems they've saved the best for last.
I hope the final reveal isn't something incredibly lame. Like wallpaper.

From my understanding it's a voluntary invitation rather than say, a court subpoena, so I can't see there being much appetite to show up for this. I could be wrong though, maybe they want to get ahead of any legislation that might hurt their long term profits.

I hope it's Total War or Command and Conquer. It is pretty dumb that those games aren't available on GOG.

Probably Silent Hill F will be here tomorrow along with some other games (Or maybe they decide to save Silent Hill F for the Halloween sale). Maybe it would have been better to release the crysis games the previous week where we only got some discount codes and merch store codes.

I still remember when GOG actually made giveaways....ah, good times. Now, it's all redeeming codes. I still love you guys, but....just saying.

10/7 is definitely Silent Hill f, what with the "fog and petals" tweet.
