An event like this happens only once a year – our Anniversary!

We’ve been here for 17 years; that’s quite a lot of time of making games live forever! For this occasion, we prepared something special: even though it’s our birthday, you’re the one getting gifts. Visit our store every day for a surprise!

And of course, here’s some of the deals:
Cyberpunk 2077 (-65%)
Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition (-60%)
Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete (-50%)
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition (-80%)
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Gold Edition (-35%)
Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition (-25%)
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon (-10%)

…and more!

Anniversary ends on October 7th, 7 AM UTC. Check it out!

Iohannis42: Once the anniversary sale ends, that price will no longer be available.

GremoryShannon: There's nothing special about those sales, that's what I'm saying. If you browse the store to filter by sales only, you'll see that there's currently 163 pages of games on sales. With sales reaching as high as 90%. So, why exactly are highlighting the sales of these 3 shooter games special in any way?
You get a 5% higher discount on those three with that code than the current discount during the sale.

Which, you know, big whoop. I kinda wish it was just the preservation program link again, that would at least be funny. This is just a shrug.

This could be the very last opportunity to purchase the FULL, COMPLETE collection of Whale Rock Games at an absolutely unbeatable price.

I heard you like discounts. So I applied a discount to your discount so you discount while you discount.

I was hoping we'd get a lot of freebies during this anniversary. When I think of gifts, that's the first thing that pops up.

tfishell: Much of the complaining about each day's "surprise" not being very noteworthy just makes me roll my eyes. (I'm not talking about criticizing the Preservation Program itself.) GOG can't provide you with dopamine every day. That said, maybe GOG should have saved Rise and Shadow to release this week instead of last, if possible, so each week we'd have something "big".

Lhun Duum: I think the criticism is well deserved, the marketing plan for this celebration was poorly executed. We all know that GOG would love to sell all those high profile games we've been asking for but that publishers/developers are not willing to bring those titles over here. However, by starting the celebration with two big-bang level surprises, GOG did set an expectation that all surprises would be of that level. But what followed was disappointment 4 times in a row...

I was very excited for this birthday after the first two days but now, they managed to kill all the hype I had for it. In my opinion, as a marketing tool, this celebration completely failed its purpose. I can see multiple ways they could have make it better:
- Only offer one "big" surprise per week, 3 dates in the calendar and that's it or...
- ... keep all the dates but present it differently (e.g. 1 big present box, 5 small, 1 big, five small, 1 big) to keep expectation in check
- Do not offer the same thing twice in a row (e.g. big release, goodie, huge discount, small release, gog preservation, big release... so on and so forth)

But hey, I've been around for a long time and it's not the first time that GOG marketing completely missed the mark, so I shouldn't be surprised.
My guess is they released those 2 games first to pad their Q3 sales.

You know things are bad when people start saying "hey, can we go back to more preservation news?" lmao (I really wouldn't mind more additions in the line of Gothic, just adding the community fixes, instead of weird tweaks)

Meh .

The Banner Saga series didn't return to the sale and Mad Max still not received the 85% off discount .
( and no, i don't want to buy them from Fat Gabe's Burger )

Gungrave was actually on my wishlist, so at least that's something for me, but the next gift(tm) is a discount on just three random shooters? Was this anniversary event put together at the last minute by an intern or something?

I'm on hopium right now that they're saving their heaviest hits for last.

Let us know how the game is because I've been looking at it for a while. But people are saying it's too repetitive; is it fun? That’s the question for me.

Have you missed the present on 12/24/2024?

Do you still want it?

Yes?

Really?

OK.

Haven't started downloading it yet, but if it's anything like the PS2 Gungrave titles, which it very much does look like from all footage and reviews I've seen, it's going to be very one-note gameplay; run, shoot, dodgeroll, shoot more. The previous games were more style than substance, and definitely a bit janky, but they were fun games to play in short bursts.

If gameplay footage looks at all fun knowing that it's the same thing start to finish, you'd probably get something out of it, especially with it being so cheap.

Buying the entire full, complete collection means you'll never buy another Whale Rock game.

GremoryShannon: Is it just me or I don't understand why sales are supposed to be reveals/gifts? We get sales all the time. Just for the duration of this anniversary, I've been getting constant notifications that games on my wishlist are on sale. So why exactly are these sales supposed to be special?
Your disappointment is certainly understandable. Nothing could match the experience of having the full complete collection of all Whale Rock games at your disposal.

This Anniversary Sale has Steam worried. Its Autumn Sale now has Far Cry 3 for under $4 and Far Cry Primal for under $3. Joke's on them because we got free wallpapers and 2 links to the Preservation Program.
