paladin181: Wow. Sorry you're letting an imaginary number destroy your enjoyment of a generally good community. I've been up and down in Rep but honestly, as long as it doesn't affect my ability to post, or the contents of what I can post, there's no problem for me.
Fair enough, but if they were face to face it would definitely be a different story.
And that frustrates the hell out of me.

undeadcow: Respectfully what is the point of 'rep' if people will resort to this when bumped down? I know uncool things happen, but that's part of a socially driven system - you win some you lose some. I didn't but was tempted to down-rep this original post because it doesn't seem constructive. You can't take a blow then demand administrators fix it; figure out what went wrong and earn your rep (or not).

Maybe I "don't get" it, either way best wishes accomplishing what you're going for.
At least here they can't attach nasty notes to your account. Fitocracy had a system were you could rep up or down and attach a note with it. Oh, my was that a mistake. I deleted my account because you'd have people attaching lies to your profile with no way of removing them.

At least here there's limited harm that comes from being repped down. The worst case is if you haven't bought any games and get repped down too much. That's an autoban, but they may have fixed that since then.

tinyE: I'm down about 30 myself this week and honestly I just don't give a shit anymore.

OneFiercePuppy: Yeah but your rep bounces like hyperactive kids in a bouncy castle; and has done for at least a year and more. If you had any shits to give they'd be all over the floor and walls XD
True:-)

Sorry, but that's my upbringing (don't take shit off anyone).

and I bet you don't have something little and silly that bothers you. Just because it doesn't bother you, doesn't mean it doesn't bother others.

Edit: people actually down rate this? Didn't realise I was being offensive...

Leroux: GOG should get rid of the rep system already so we can all go back to talking about games and noone needs to get upset about random trolls trying to hurt their feelings. Whether you gained all your rep by being helpful or just by being a smartass forum junkie - noone will be able to tell the difference anyway. If I could give away any of my rep, I would (because that would make me look like a wonderful human being and boost my ego!). Or better yet, I'd try to trade it in for Witcher 3, GTA IV and Team Fortress keys (whatever that is). :P

hedwards: Getting rid of it isn't really necessary, but they do need to limit the number of opportunities you get. Soylent News gives you 5 a day. You have to have positive karma and be there for at least a month, but having a limited number of points to spend cuts down on abuse quite a bit.

Or they could pay attention to who is doing all the moderating. Most of the abuse is coming from accounts that aren't buying things and aren't participating at all in forum life. Barring accounts that aren't actively posting in any thread would go a long way towards cutting down on the abuse as well.

I'm sure there are other solutions to the problem, but at present gOg doesn't seem terribly interested in fixing the forum.
Haven't purchased anything since the last sale.

No no no... imaginary numbers are real multiples of i. That rep is a real number.
Does the user with the highest reputation get anything? What is the benefit of having a high reputation? I don't even remember mine. That probably means that I have a low one...

Penis-length is directly proportionate to the amount of rep you have.

5. What is this “rep” thing on the forums?
Rep is the user's reputation rating, showing how respected and well-known you are in the community. You can quickly estimate a user's rep by looking at the number of stars next to their rep value. Getting one or two stars is fairly easy, while five stars is a serious achievement. Those who earn maximum reputation can expect some kind of nice bonus (surprise, surprise! :).

But you do known, that one can have too much of a good thing, right? Down-repping might be useful in that context.
