It's looking like a lot of people think a longer cooldown is a good idea. I might try that out for the next month and see if it allows for more games to stay on the CG list for longer.

3 months for standard seem to be the consensus but what about starred. 6 months? Maybe too long. I was thinking just making it 4 or 5 months. Have till May to mull it over.

As I already said, the point is not the cooldown, the point is that there are practically no key donors, except for the doc. Most users simply wait for their turn to take the key, nothing more.
I prefer keeping the current cooldowns.
Another user suggested to lower the starred cooldown to one or two months and I posted my opinion considering the 3 month cooldown to be fair. I wouldn't be against raising the cooldown of regular keys to two or even three months, but I'd rather keep things as they are now.
However, if there's a general consensus about longer cooldowns, I'm ok with it. We get donated games without having to give anything in exchange. As long as everyone has the same chances, no rule is unfair.

I'd say 2 (regular) and 4-6 (starred). That is, I think it's important to have a significantly longer time for the starred category, otherwise it's essentially a 'free' gamble on a starred game (even more so with the current dripfeeding schedule), rather than something you choose to be in for because you really want that particular game.

I'm generally in favour of longer cooldowns, but not certain if it's wise to move so swiftly to changing the setup. Might be beneficial to have a longer period for observing how the current experiment is affecting things, before adding the next one.
I'm for the current cooldowns.

If you want 3 months cooldown for more games then just put more games in starred.

I agree with keeping it as it is for now. I don't see anything wrong with the cooldowns as they are now. At the end of the previous months most people seem to have gotten something nice to play, and there's been games left over from each month.

We've also only just begun with the 3 month Starred cooldowns. Last month there were way more people on cooldown than in February, and this month there's even more. We don't really see the proper results of it yet. I think it's too soon to start changing it up.

I agree.
I strongly support opinions of Lone_Scout, (ø,ø), Lexor, and mrkgnao.

1 month cooldown for regular, 3 months cooldown for starred games.
Is it really necessary to change the rule halfway through the year?
Hasn't it been going rather well up to now?

I vote to keep the current rule for this year and perhaps forgo starred keys for November and December, so everybody can start fresh next year with new set of rules

Well, it all has started from the post in the main thread where someone wanted to make the cooldowns shorter.

I think he/she will not ask for this again. :P

For someone reason that link didn't work, but I found the post in question. Here's a copy/paste what was said in Post #3723.

I'm just giving an opinion here, but wouldn't be good if the cool down from starring keys drop from 3 to 2 month? When there is a big drop of games like this one, at the end some games practically don't get any attention and the drawings are just between two or three gogers, because most users are in cooldowns or don't have enough activity to participate. I think two month it's enough, that's my humble opinion.
My thoughts:

The whole idea behind the Starred Game is that it is games that they're not first come first serve so that people like myself that tend to be asleep when games get added have a chance at claiming something that they would otherwise have zero chance of getting. The games in this category tend to be more expensive and/or just in very high demand.

Disco Elysium, for example, has always had a lot of entries. The only reason it has only two this time isn't because the demand has trickled off because it seems like everyone (minus myself) either owns or wants to own this game, but because God of War is the cool new game that everyone (except me) wants to own.

Skyrim is another one that will get a bunch of people entering for it. The only thing that has stopped me from putting in for Skyrim is the fact that all I'll do is download the A Cat's Life mod to turn Skyrim into the crazy cat warrior game, while ignoring the game's main plot. This is so true that I couldn't even tell you what Skyrim is about.

I think that the only reason Magical Drop VI doesn't have more entries is because people like myself that would otherwise be interested in the game are also and not entering because Lone_Scout entered for it, and we want him to win.

Please don't step out if you want the game. I enjoy the thrill of the competition ;)
(Even if my luck stat is low XD)
hm? are we comparing Luck stat now?
I really like the way things are setup at the moment. It seems to be working since there's no flood of requests when there's a new additions neither at the end of the month, like in previous iterations of the C-GW.

The only issue I have is that is hard to win a game from the starred section one really want, wich lead some people to enter the raft several times. I believe after a while and the cooldown period stabilizes, will be easier to get that one game one really want to play.
Ok ok I'll leave things the way they are right now. It was looking like everyone wanted a 3 month cooldown across the board until I said I would actually adopt the rule and then everyone started saying "Now hold on there just a minute!" You guys really need to speak up before I decide to try a new rule out.
