satoru: Steamworks isnt DRM
Cutting & pasting the same childish word-games of "because Steam's DRM isn't a compulsory Steamworks feature, Steam's DRM has nothing to do with Steam", in response to people pointing out the reason +94% of games on Steam use Steam's DRM almost by default is because Steam openly encourages them to enable it on the Steamworks developer documentation page, openly contradicting you in their own words, is just trolling. Almost as bad as some of your other thread-crapping last year including claiming that "GOG has made secret changes to the EULA allow them to retroactively prevent you from playing your games", which also turned out to be total BS.

If GOG moderators started posting half the stupid sh*t on Steam forums that you - as a Steam moderator - have trolled here on GOG forums in the past, they'd have been banned long ago.

satoru: You seem to be confused since that user was actively lying about literally everything about their experience with Steam to get on some kind of 'pity train'. He just got uppity when someone called him out on his bullshit on steam and on reddit.
*shrug* Seemed rather personally directed to you to me. And the argument was dragged into this forum from Steam and Reddit, so excuse my confusion. I do remember him doxxing you as a Steam mod though.

kalirion: Why would anyone bother hacking a GOG account?
Indeed. Though it would perhaps be better to add .... and lock you out.

In the first instance, I guess they gain access to download your games in your library, which they can then upload for sharing on dubious sites.

But why then, would they close that avenue off, by making it obvious you have been hacked, which of course you would report?

Doesn't it seem more logical, that they just stay secret, so they can get more?

Why draw unwanted attention?

Seems reasonable to suspect this topic as clickbait or someone getting jollies because games are no longer scratching that itch.

AB2012: I'm sure it was confirmed in one of the other threads last year when people grew suspicious of the overly enthusiastic advocacy (including "Steam's DRM isn't DRM and even if it were it would be the fault of everyone except Steam." style outbursts). He never volunteers it directly though...

Tauto: Now that Galaxy might be compromised, by facebook then this thread might turn out to be true.

AB2012: Whilst I don't want that hacking side of things to be true for those that use Galaxy, with any luck it might re-elevate GOG's interest in treating "backup" installers equally again:-

Interesting. Thanks for the info, at any rate.

Wishlisted both options.

satoru: Again you're free to ignore facts but again

1) steam isn't DRM, if it was there could not be, by definition, drm free games on steam

https://steam.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_DRM-free_games

2) Steamworks isnt DRM

https://twitter.com/icculus/status/471441666419990528?lang=en

3) you can incorporate literally every steamworks feature available and have your game be 100% DRM free as literally every game by Larian has every Steamworks feature including multiplayer but is 100% DRM free on Steam

https://store.steampowered.com/app/243950/Divinity_Dragon_Commander/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/373420/Divinity_Original_Sin__Enhanced_Edition/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/435150/Divinity_Original_Sin_2__Definitive_Edition/

Are you willing to refute facts or are you going to resort to ad hominem attacks.
1.a. Just because SOME steam games are DRM free(or can be made as such(Like the classic doom/build games, via source ports/etc & also some newer indie/etc titles), that doesn't mean ALL are.

Many steam games REQUIRE steam to be running/the games to be installed/played through the client in order to function.

2.a. AGAIN, if a game needs it to be running in order to function then it IS DRM.

Just look at what the acronym stands for: DIGITAL(PC steam games qualify as such) RIGHTS MANAGEMENT(Steam is needed to run most steam titles & as such it manages your right to a certain "place"/set of circumstances(being logged into/running steam's client)

3.a. I'm not familiar with that title/how it runs on steam, but I AM familiar with many others.

Just because a game CAN run in steam in offline mode doesn't mean the game is DRM-free. Try running many steam games without steam running and a box will popup saying steam needs to be running or it'll load steam up so the games can run. In such cases, your only(illegal and morally questionable to many) option is to crack the steam-running-to-start-game functionality out of said game.

The only reason it doesn't apply to older(build/classic doom/etc) games is because the files are bare & easy to pluck out of the install folders to run elsewhere. If steam were more competent they'd likely package game files in container files that only steam could read/modify to prevent such out-of-steam-client gameplay.

(Thankfully they don't do so)

My account recently got stolen, this account here is a fake one which I don't even remember making.

Not going to add any details to this account as it may be a spoof account, I did change its password so I could at least make ticket.

No idea what to do about it, never go notification of the hack attempt, must have been something that happened long ago and the person who had my password decided to act now since i have been moving away from google and changing my email I guess they thought, OH SHIT this guy is gonna change his password next...

Well too late for me it seems, my account is gone, and so is any future business I do with GOG sadly.

- Do you still have the email account that was connected to your "hacked GOG account"? If not, why not?

Sidenote: Did you use your GOG password on any other sites? Stop doing that.

Why? Didn't you back up your games and don't you still have access to the email tied to that account?

If so(like the others have said) you should tell GOG to reset the password for it via that email and a support ticket.

Agreed to this....doing that sort of thing is just asking for trouble if someone gets access to one of one's accounts.

Didn't you have two-factor authentication enabled? If you had, then merely having your GOG account password shouldn't have been enough, as long as they can't access your email account to which the 2FA security codes come. You should have received the security code emails from GOG, that should have alerted you since you know you had not initiated those emails.

When 2FA is enabled, then the only point of the GOG password is to prevent someone (else than you) locally trying to log into your GOG account, using your PC.

If he uses the same PWD for both they likely got into his email as well, hence the rub in his case.

You could contact GOG support and tell them about the issue. Maybe they can figure something out. Keep in mind that they might have your ip and might even track your old account (just tell them about past purchases ect.). It's worth a try.
