teceem: Yeah, you're right - they're doing it at my workplace too. I HATE it, but I understand, they're protecting the network from the most ignorant employees.
I use a mouse moving program because the system isn't set up for VM computers.

rtcvb32: They need to encourage good passwords. Like give you 7 random words, you can reorder the words and you memorize them. After 3-4 times of that you get to choose your own words. Viola! Good passwords!
How about an exception list? I have a good, unique password - I'll send an email to IT explaining that to them; and they won't make me change my password every 3 months anymore.
But no, they won't do that - they like their unifying policies too much.

It's like their forced company logo wallpapers. Sure, it makes sense for the people that have customers near their PC - but why force it for all others too?

Don't worry,he pumps it up again:)
I see this thread's already gone to the trash can, let's see what it is actually about.

<Reading>

I've noticed nothing of the sort and I doubt GOG is the actual source.

Maybe you're right - maybe you're not. Only a minority feel the need to start topics about their issues.

I'm somewhat overall doubtful as to why anyone would target accounts here specifically rather than an easier and more valued target like a phished email or social media account.

One phished email or social media account by itself has no value. But you can/could actually sell a single GOG account, it's full of games.

Sell it? I can make 1 message and have the entire GOG catalogued Rsynced to a Google Drive. I wont because I respect the GOG team but what poor sucker is paying for a stolen GOG account?

The poor sucker that doesn't know how to do what you can do - and that's most people.

Most people can't even see the difference between a good game torrent download and one that's just plain malware (Batllefield.exe 1MB full download, just making something up).

Have you noticed that were not on the Internet 2001 Edition anymore?

Evan_Damien: As of last November, dozens of people have flocked to review boards and forums concerned over the seemingly random act of malicious attempts to access their accounts. unfortunately many of those attempts against this community have been successful.

I am exhibit A. I lost my account, and the email address affiliated with it in just under an hour to an unknown assailant. I am not the only one, many have suffered the effects of the criminals behind the acts.
You could be next on their list.

They are after any degree of personal, and financial information saved on our accounts. Be certain your accounts are secure, and your passwords are strong because you never know who might have their eyes on your hard earned money, and your well earned reputation.

Make sure your passwords for the GoG website and the email affiliated are updated and strong.

Upvote and follow for more notifications on GoG, and the games they provide.

Sincerely, Mr. Damien
Isnt that what GOG announcements are for?

Lord_Kane: Getting Nervous Epic and Valve?
Yeah, I heard Epic is afraid they may run out of room to store all the money from Fortnite, Scrooge McDuck style.
