Carradice: Actually it was a citadel/palace where the lord of the land used to abide. There are large gardens inside as well, all enclosed by its own ramparts and towers. It was open all day and visitors could free roam. (snip for space)
avatar
GamezRanker: That all sounds pretty cool, tbh.

avatar
Carradice: However, it became apparent that the reason for removing the wooden structures (think wooden walls) was that they were going to block the entrance to the tunnels with brick and mortar., as the works started some weeks later after our discovery. By the end of the summer, no one could ever enter those tunnels anymore, and people would not even figure out where the entrances actually were (they did a good job). I guess that the famous tunnels slipped back into the realm of legend again.
avatar
GamezRanker: This, however, sucks....I mean don't those people who blocked it up & those who ordered it to be done care about preserving history? :|

Still, you had some fun and explored part of history....which makes it an even more fun memory imo. :)
Glad that you liked the story! It was all very thrilling. Very few living people has seen those tunnels, and we were very lucky to visit them. I understand that the powers that be decided that the tunnels were not going to be open to the public, and if so, the best was to close them and preserve them for future generations. This is what we do in my home city: whenever something appears (it is really impossible to dig without ruins appearing), the decision is taken to cover it again or to expose it if possible, or in some cases move the rests somewhere else. The tunnels are not at all in ruins, but I understand that they close them. Even if I would have preferred to keep them open to the public, and maybe nowadays cameras would check that people stay safe in them. A stroke of luck, and something to remember, to be sure.
Thank you very much for the giveaway @GamezRanker! I wish to participate in both draws, please :)

>What is one good memory/moment you can recall involving yourself and/or family/friends over the last 1-2 years?

After so many years, finally going on a camping trip with my grandparents and brothers last summer. It only happened less than a year ago, yet the nostalgia crushes me every single time I recall it. It's daunting how fast time flies...

"And whether your relationship is awful, good, or great
We don't like endings
We don't like to lose things
And especially, we don't like to lose things that are important to us
And make no mistake
Relationships are the single most important thing to you and your life
It's the source of all of your best memories
It's the source of all of your worst memories
When you think back on your life
And you're 95, a hundred years old
And you look back over the course of your lifetime
You're not gonna think
I wish I owned a better phone
I wish I spent more time on the internet
I wish I spent more time at work or sleeping
It's not gonna be any of those kinds of things
It's gonna be I wish I spent more time with the people I love."

Didn't check the thread yet, but I am hoping they went the fair route(cheap game for the launch and old game as bonus extra), I'll check in a bit and keep my fingers crossed. :)

Well maybe it's for the best in a way.....tourists(even locals) sometimes don't respect history...scratching names/etc in things, leaving trash, etc.

That said, I hope they(or someone else who was in them) took photographs and whatnot before closing it up, so they can out those on display at least.

I hear ya on that......when we watch the clock it seems to crawl on by, and when we don't it flies past before we know it.

Anyhoo, sounds like you had some fun, so glad to hear that. :)

BranjoHello: In the past 1-2 years I managed to reignite my father's love for fishing. During April to October period we were going to fish on various location in up to 80km radius at least once a month. Not every fishing trip is worth mentioning of course, though it's always enjoyable to be near water surrounded by nature even when the fish don't bite much.
It seems the fish bit this time...because you won the 1st 15 dollar credit! :D

Simply check the GOG catalog and PM me your selection(s), and I will get them to you asap. :)

finkleroy: Before the game, we got some excellent biscuits and gravy at a restaurant named Biscuit Bitch. I ordered the "Hot Mess Bitch". It was heavenly.
Seems like your story about a hot mess earned you a hot mess of store credit, as you have won the second 15 dollar store credit! Simply PM me your choice(s) and I will get them to you as soon as I am able. :)

Ruvika: I have a good memory from my childhood, when I went to the cyber café with my friends, we spend all our allowance in one day playing Sven Co-op, we finished almost all the maps availables, my mother beat up my ass when I arrived hope for being absent all day without and spend all my money, but it worth it XD
And now you have some extra "allowance" to spend, as you won the 1st runner up store credit prize!

You have 6 dollars(give or take some change) to spend...simply let me know via PM the game(s) you want, and you'll get them soon enough. :)

kai2: I was middle-school age and my father and I were walking the misty morning boundaries of our rural property -- part of a larger farm that had been passed through generations. It wasn't often that Dad took any time from working... and even more rare that we spent time alone together outside of work, but so is the way of many country folk. We wandered across the pre-dawn pasture fields into the sparsely wooded hills and then deeper into the dense forest. Light grew dim -- until we came to a strange circular clearing with a hill in the middle. Dad climbed the hill and pulled me up just as the sunrise broke through the clouds above. With the angle of the incline and lifting fog, it looked like we could keep walking up into the clouds and golden light... into heaven...

I have never to this day experienced anything like this. The mundane had suddenly become spiritual (and I say this as someone who is not particularly religious).

We stood there silently for a long, long time.

After finishing our day, I wouldn't stop thinking about that experience; I'd search for that spot many times since -- even asking my Dad's aid (he never could quite remember exactly where that hill was located) -- but never found it again. It's like it was there for my Dad and I to find that waking early-morning... and then just disappeared.
It seems the fairies granted you luck, as you're the 2nd runner up store credit winner! Just like Ruvika, you have 6 dollars(more or less) to spend, so feel free to pick you game(s) and send the name(s) of them to me via PM, and I will get them to you asap. :)

Despite the slim chance you had(being one of the "bookend numbers"[first and last numbers] and all), you seem to have gotten lucky anyhoo.....as you won the 3rd, super sekrit runner up prize! :D

You have around 6 us dollars of store credit to pick a game or games from the catalog on GOG...so go ahead and do that when you will/can, and send the name(s) to me via PM and I will get your winnings to you toot sweet. :)

TheBigCore: I went down to the beach on a summer holiday in July 2019 with some close family and friends for a week.
While you didn't win an actual prize, you at least win the "fantabulous" door prize of 5 forum score points.
(i wish it were a game or other actual prize, but there's always next time, eh? :))

Hm? Home game?

TheDudeLebowski: Hm? Home game?
I was making a silly reference to the consolation prizes old game shows used to give people who lost(which included things like home versions of the game those contestants were just on, or "lifetime supplies" of things like rice-a-roni :D).
Congrats to the winners!!

As for GamezRanker, thank you so much for this giveaway. I'm glad that so many people acknowledged you in the "little giveaway" thread by Doc. It truly shows that the negative rep you carry means nothing. You are one of the most generous persons of this community. Not only do you do giveaways, you're also friendly, talkative, give tips about games and other things, share your points of view and you do all this without asking anything in return.

For being this awesome, I also want you to be a winner in this. I took the liberty of buying you a game. It's a game we already talked about and I think you'll like it. Check your pms when you can :).

Enjoy and thank you once again.
Congrats to the winners :)
I'll take the lifetime supply of nail clippers, please!

(does anyone ever need a new one?!)
Congrats to the winners & thanks for the chance GamezRanker
