Thank you for the giveaway, I'm in for the store credit draw.

The moment I'd like to share was when I was eating tomato soup with my grandma. I was probably like 4(?) years old but I still remember it over that many years. :)
When I was little, I spent my school breaks with my grandparents surrounded by nature, animals, playing in the mud and didn't care about covid or anything else.Good old days.

Thanks for the giveaway, GamezRanker!
I'm in for the store credit draw.

I have a lot of good childhood memories but one that recently stood out was about this big dinosaur book. It's like twice or thrice the size of a regular book. I kept on borrowing it from the school library so my brother and I can read it again and again. Now, my brother found out that it's still being published and wants to buy a copy. Still looking for a way to purchase it locally since the shipping costs way more than the book.

That was the life in our corner of the world, wasn't it? I miss those times.

Now, to the topic at hand... Not in, but mighty fine of you to do this. Good luck to everyone!
I'm in.

A good memory was last summer I volunteered my summer to work at a summer camp, I met so many good friends and had so many good times. I'm going to do it next year ofc it is on other side of country (I moved so it's far) so I will have to buy a plane ticket to work for free, but hey I get a scholarship with the volunteered hours.
Hello GamezRanker!

This is such a nice idea for a giveaway, thank you GamezRanker!

I am not in for the copy of the game "Shadow Man". I have played it on the Nintendo 64 in the past and I prefered the more colorful Tomb Raider titles. ;)

- One of my good memories/moments over the last 1-2 years:
Shortly after the start of the pandemic last year, I discovered online platforms for playing boardgames with your relatives and friends via internet. During my unvoluntary holidays, I made good use of one of those (in particular the boardgamearena) together with my brother. We used to play boardgames and tabletop games while we still lived with my parents. Almost two decades later, each of us lives literally on the opposite side of the globe, but had again a lot of fun playing some old favorites together and with friends online, as well as discovering some (at least for us) new gems in the world of boardgames! After recovering from a serious health issue - and yes, there are still other health problems than the ongoing pandemic - we joined for another online boardgame session ang chatted via video conference. "What a blast from the past", re-experiencing something surprisingly close to the memories of our younger selves!
Disregarding the pandemic, I still would go with the physical boardgames, if I have the choice. But some of those online platforms offer a great variety of games you might not know, yet, and a cheaper entrance to give them a try! And with the current circumstances, there is rarely a doubt about their benefits.

- And from my childhood:
Although, my first entry somewhat refers to the past, here is a very special memory of my childhood:
As kids, three of us put all of our pocket allowance together to buy us a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was the set which comes with the four-player-adapter and four controllers, including the combi-cartridge of "Super Mario Bros.", "Tetris" and "Nintendo World Cup". The next three game(s) we "bought" were actually paid by our parents, since we spent everything on the console system itself. One of these games was "Chip & Chap Rescue Rangers" ("Chip 'n Dale" on the other side of the Atlantic), another "Digger T'Rock: The Search for the Lost City". Until today, I have not been able to finish the latter. Nonetheless, both of them remained two of my favorite games of all times - both gameplay-wise and regarding their atmosphere. And I still like their ease of play (just "pulg-in and play", within some seconds you are actually playing them) and their overall pacing.)
Recently, I played casually through "Chip & Chap" again. And it did not lost any of its charm to me.
I even took it as an inspiration for one of my entries in the Draw and guess the game thread.

So, have fun! And thanks to the other contributers, this thread is a joy to read!

Kind regards,
foxgog

[Edit: corrected minor spelling errors and added the draw&guess forum link]
[2nd Edit: at least for me the added link does not lead to my specific post, so I included the drawing directly here.]

JocktheLock1: A good memory I recall from the last year is being able to spend more time with my family. With being enclosed by the pandemic, I was able to have more time to do activities with my family like take walks and have talks about today. It is still a great memory because being able to spend time with my family, we have grown closer during the pandemic.
Nice to hear that you and yours are making the most of the lockdowns and becoming closer as a result....and hopefully you'll also keep doing such things even after they come to an end. :)

avatar
JocktheLock1: A funny moment from my childhood was on a winter when I went sledding. My friends and I would go to a hill where there was snow that was located near a small river. We wanted to have extreme fun and brought some shovels and buckets to built a huge ramp to jump huge in the air. since we had two sleds, the first group of two people went and when they hit the ramp, their sled broke in half when they landed. Then when it was my friend and I next, we gave a little push and started to slowly go fast. When we were about to hit the ramp, we pushed back for some reason and we sent flying. However, when we got pushed back, both of us flew of the sled and ending up coming down and digging a huge hole of where we fell. The sled we lost turned out to hit a tree and broke in half as well since both were plastic.
Sounds intense.

Btw yer entered for the draws, and GL to ya as well.

schewy: When I was a child I remember that my uncle picked me up and held me way up high upside down so that my feet could touch the ceiling of our living room. He the let me walk around up there for a bit and he made me feel really special. He passed away about four years back and I really miss him.
I feel ya....a family member of mine passed about 2-3 years back, and I miss them dearly....but thankfully I also have good memories of them to cherish and remember.

Btw yer now entered for all draws......so best of luck to ya. :)

avatar
mrkgnao: I might be slightly stretching the concept of a memory from the last couple of years here, as mine is only from 9 days ago, but still it feels so momentous that I think it will remain with me for a long time. Well, you see, last week my wife and I finally got our first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. By itself, it was a rather mundane procedure, but in the context of the last year or so, it made us feel quite emotional and hopeful for a better future for us and for everyone else.
Hopefully you're right on that(I myself hope/pray we can all get back to normal asap).

avatar
mrkgnao: Thank you for your ongoing generosity, GamezRanker.

I am in only for the store credit, as I already have Shadow Man (and more than enough rep).
*Points to rules* "everyone is entered into the rep draw"

But don't worry, if you win that one i'll do a re-draw in your case. :D

As for the other draw....yer all set.....now we wait till the deadline to see who is the most lucky among y'all. :)

KetobaK: Well, a good memory with my family it would be a couple of years ago, when my family celebrated my Grandma's Birthday!
Nice....so what level(age) has she reached, if I may ask? Did she get to the epicly awesome level of 100 yet? :)

avatar
KetobaK: And a good memory from my childhood is play with my friends at the arcades, I miss the arcade so much, all those afternoons spending my pocket money with friends, trying to beat Rugal in TKoF '95!!!! So many laughs and swearing LOL, after the arcade closed was really sad for me, a couple of years ago my friends and I found the storage where the old owner keeps their machinea, all cover in dust, we pffer to buy TKoF but their sons disagree, such a boomer :/
I also remember the arcades.....which were more fun when the machines worked, but still pretty fun usually.....well back before I got my mental issues, that is. Now I cannot go out much, even if I wanted to.

But oh well, I still have PC gaming and etc, and the memories. Btw thanks for sharing with us. :D

avatar
KetobaK: Okay, this became a depressive story. Thanks GameRanker for the giveaway. I even make a meme for this, I'm in! :)
And yer name is being added to all draws.....soon we will know who the lucky ones are. :}

(also thanks for the meme.....I saved it to my collection)

Persival2207: (Q)What is one good memory/moment you can recall involving yourself and/or family/friends over the last 1-2 years?
Fortunately, I don't witness any calamity in my family or my life these past years, so I can say everything is good, but a remarkable moment would definitively be when my causing came for vacations, it doesn't look like something special, but we didn't meet for a whole year, we're really close since kids, so seeing them again was a really good moment
Sounds like you enjoyed your time with them....glad to hear it.

avatar
Persival2207: (Q) What is one good memory/moment you can recall from your childhood?
Watching Thomas and his friends and playing Super Smash Bros on an emulatutor of N64
Sounds like fun. Btw, if I may ask....who is Thomas? A friend?

avatar
Persival2207: Hey, it's my boy GamezRanker with another GA, thanks mate, it's bent a while since the last time I entered a GA, I'll like to enter for the credit prize
I try when I can....in large part to give back for all the good(contests and nice words/threads) others give to the forums, and also because it's fun to share memories and etc with my fellow goggers.

Well anyhoo yer entered as with all the rest. The draw is set for sometime after the deadline, btw, so make sure to stay tuned to see if you got lucky. :)

TheDudeLebowski: No good memories in the last two decades (at least, none that wasn't immediately followed by a really bad one).
Well those count too, I would think....that said, sorry to hear that you seem to have had a run of bad luck as of late.

avatar
TheDudeLebowski: Good memories from childhood revolve around my grandpa. Spending afternoons with him were the only memories I'd like to keep till I die. He was a giving, selfless and loving person, who left too soon. I wish I'd appreciated that when I was a toddler.
As said to another gogger earlier, those memories and time with loved ones is something to cherish. I often wish i'd spent more time with some before they passed, but what's done is done, and I at least still have the memories I do of time spent with them. :)

avatar
TheDudeLebowski: I don't have a specific memory to pick, but he'd pick me up in the afternoons or weekends and we'd go on "adventures" together (from dog walking and/or hiking to visiting my my great-grandad who owned a candy shop, or his brother who owned a video rental shop. And sometimes we'd just have dinner in the backyard just the two of us and he'd tell me stories about a young magician who went to a magic school and was getting into trouble all the time - this was way before Harry Potter.)
Candy stores and video stores(blockbuster, hollywood video, etc) ftw....they were some fun places to go to when I was younger as well.

And my elder relatives also used to share tales with me and other family members...fun times. :)

avatar
TheDudeLebowski: In for the $15 draw! Thank you for the chance and generosity!
Aaaaaand yer name is added.....best of luck to ya when the prizes are drawn.

avatar
DiffuseReflection: Thank you for the giveaway! I'm happy to participate.

For a recent good memory, I was happy to be present when my relative overcame a previous fear of cats after meeting and playing with two friendly ones.
Such a purr-fect memory to share.....it's always nice to hear about someone enjoying some time with a feline(or even canine) companion. :}

Also yer all set and entered....the draw will likely be held shortly after the deadline, so make sure to check back to see if you were lucky. :)

Tomato? One of my favorite soups. :D

Yer name is added....good luck to ya.

I had similar books I would check out of the local libraries....CYOA books and the like. They were always fun to read....even if i'd already read them a few years prior.

Oh well, at least I can watch shows and films about camp life and live vicariously through that. :D

(also nice to hear you're doing such a nice thing by volunteering like that)

Yer entered along with all the others...so best of luck when the time comes. :)

Mostly mental issues, some of which keep me from wanting to leave the house much or do some things some people can do without issue.

But no biggie, I got my games and my friends and more....so i'm doing pretty well all things considered. :)

Update to all: I have added some runner up prizes to the store credit draw(they're now listed in the op post). Once the main winners for that draw are picked, two runners up will be chosen from that same list of entrants to win some smaller runner up store credit prizes.

No one who has entered for that draw already or who will enter for that draw in the future needs to do anything, as all who enter for the store credit draw are added to the runner up store credit draw by default.

Oh, my bad....I misread that bit....I thought you said Thomas was playing the N64 games. :D

Yeah, I have seen that show(american version)before as a kid....long ago on public broadcasting stations.
Sure, why not. Not in for Shadow Man though as I already own it.

I don't have any particularly good memories from the last two years, so... second question it is.

One particularly vivid memory I have is getting to sit in KITT from Knight Rider, I was obsessed with that show (and the car in particular) and it was so exciting and surreal to actually get to sit in it. I still have the photo of me from the event, my large toy model of KITT sat beside me.

Hell I still have that toy around here somewhere. Wonder if it's worth anything these days.
Thank you for your generosity!

I am in for the store credit, but not in for shadow man.

A very recent memory was my sibling and I laughing our heads off over Lego Hobbit's 2nd chapter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZq4vL9QSLs
Family times playing Ticket to Ride and other board games are always a lot of fun.

From my childhood--sitting around the table or living room at my grandparents house listening to the stories being swapped was always a highlight of any trip to see them. One motel where we went on vacation the owner was a lot of fun, always joking around, and when we were trying to pack up the vastly overloaded car prior to leaving, the man came by and hollered good-naturedly "you've got so much room left, do you want a free microwave?"
:,-D
My uncle telling me not to squirt him with a super-soaker when he was in the pool because, "You'll get the water wet!" Fun times.
