ReynardFox: One particularly vivid memory I have is getting to sit in KITT from Knight Rider, I was obsessed with that show (and the car in particular) and it was so exciting and surreal to actually get to sit in it. I still have the photo of me from the event, my large toy model of KITT sat beside me.
Omg, that sounds like so much fun. :)
(I loved that show a bit, and used to watch it sometimes with my one parent[along with other old shows] while growing up, and then again later on in life)

avatar
ReynardFox: Hell I still have that toy around here somewhere. Wonder if it's worth anything these days.
Maybe it is....maybe you should have it checked some day....just don't take it to guys like in pic related or they might try to take it off yer hands for 25 bucks and a used copy of Battletoads. ;)

Microfish_1: A very recent memory was my sibling and I laughing our heads off over Lego Hobbit's 2nd chapter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZq4vL9QSLs
Family times playing Ticket to Ride and other board games are always a lot of fun.
Lego vidya games and family games? Sounds like fun. :D

avatar
Microfish_1: From my childhood--sitting around the table or living room at my grandparents house listening to the stories being swapped was always a highlight of any trip to see them. One motel where we went on vacation the owner was a lot of fun, always joking around, and when we were trying to pack up the vastly overloaded car prior to leaving, the man came by and hollered good-naturedly "you've got so much room left, do you want a free microwave?"
:,-D
I remember an old family trip where I played arcade cabinets in the motel office while the rest of the family did their thing....those were some fun times. :)

Not really a memory per se as it was very recent (a month back) but I managed to snag a strix 1070ti for $120.00. Still pretty chuffed about the find and the fact that I can game again after my 1060 gave out.

Throwing my hat in for the store credit draw.

Thanks for the chance GamezRanker.
@GamezRanker

The name of the book is The Giant Book of Dinosaurs. :P It's an old one but brings back a lot of memories.
Great topic, great giveaway. I'm down for the GOG bucks.

Honestly any time i chill with my friends it's a pretty good time. That's why they're my friends.
My brother and I live super far, like other side of the world, but we still catch some coop games from time to time. And just shoot the shit.

I'm lucky to have both friends and a brother I enjoy hanging out with.

I'm gonna save this and read people;s answers.
Memory from when I was young:
Take a trip down Memory Lane here. So, this had to be late 80's and early 90's, but I certainly all the times when my mom & dad went to the local roller skating rink and we went all go skating for sessions and stuff. Lots of fun, skating and all. And playing whatever awesome arcade games they had at this rink. For a few years, before hitting 10, I was doing this for fun; and it certainly was tons of that. Learning how to skate, move around, and even...jump at some point. So, yeah; someone would take notice. So, yeah; I eventually got good at this and it led to me be approached by a coach to do this seriously - around 10 years old or so. So, it got serious; and I began practicing seriously. Pretty much, practicing 5-7 days a week. Not too long later, I began competing in competitions.

So, this went on for lots & lots of years; up until my mid-to-late 20's (around 26, I threw in the towel competitively). Skating, competitively at a high level, and travelling around the USA with my mom & dad - going around the country, competing on a Nat'l level, and seeing some of the country was just awesome - a lot of interesting places: California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and even good old Nebraska. Probably been to Nebraska more times than I can recall (since the Nat'l Championships were often held there, since their HQ and Hall of Fame is over there). Yeah, for a lot of this: a lot of good times. And met a lot of great people along the way from all over the country and World. Oh, and had lots of great food along the way, too!

Memory in the last 1-2 years or so:
COVID's been kind of "meh". While my lifestyle hasn't changed that much from stopping roller skating & all, other than dropping skating. I've always pretty much watched TV, played video games, and went out to eat places. So, sure, buying my new awesome PC with a RTX 3070 was great and all - but seems like this always come back to food. So, probably thanks to the old skating days, we often ate out at restaurants a lot; often one day a week or weekends.

That never changed, over the years; and now I'm typing this some tons of years or so later; and I'm like 40 or so. So, yeah - we still do this & get food; nothing's changed on that. We're definitely foodies, more or less. And most of the time - we still go out to some good places, but don't eat the food there. Instead, we just use these places as take-out and eat the food at home. But, yeah - it's still great to spend time w/ my family and still have them here on Earth; eat food; watch TV and/or movies, and all of that good stuff - family bonding and all.
Thx for the generosity! :) Not in for the giveaway, but I am in for sharing a good childhood memory... ;)

I can't recall what age I was exactly, but I remember my mom sitting next to me to help me with my homework and that homework consisted of me learning how to write the alphabet. I remember using a pencil to painstakingly trace every single letter of the alphabet (small caps and large caps). I remember how difficult it was, but my mom would hold the pencil with me and help me trace those letters I was struggling with the most. I remember being very happy of her help and smiles. I did not know this at that time, but later in life I learned that both my parents grew up with illiteracy well up to their early teenage years (poor village, schooling for those who could afford it). So when I replay this memory of my mom holding that pencil with me to trace those letters, it's just all the more special to me. :)

Thx to all those who shared their memories. I enjoy reading those. And good luck to all participants!

First, thank you for your generosity!

Second, I would like to be in for the store credit. And I would also like to answer the second question, the one about my childhood memory.

Far back in my elementary school years, my friends and I used to play different games together, one of them being the hide and seek. So there was one time when the person who would usually pick me up after I'm done from school actually arrived in the middle of the game. Thankfully, I was not the it. (My memory's kinda blurry at this point) So what happened was, I managed to tell the other hiders that I'd be going home now, and also requested for them to keep the whole thing a secret, at least until the it had finally shown hints of desperation trying to look for me (Again, as I said, I don't exactly remember what I told my friends who were playing as the hiders, but I remember conversing with them about something related to the game before I bid them farewell. And that request of mine seems to be the only piece that fits the void in the puzzle best).

I hope that story entertained you haha. :)

Nice giveaway! Best of luck to all who've entered! As for my answers...

- Back before this COVID thing utterly ruined society, when we still had free life, the summer of 2019 was one of my favorite summers ever because we could actually do stuff. My family did a load of things together but my favorite part was probably when we all went to a small town festival in my home town. Despite being a small town, this festival is a pretty big deal and it's just an awesome time to hang out and celebrate the rich history/heritage of my home. That year was the first year since I was a kid that we actually did more than just grab a bit of festival food: we actually stuck around for a few hours, enjoyed the parade and just savored the fun and the atmosphere of a celebration of the town's history. I hear they're planning to do it this year, after all, I just hope it's free from mask policies because I don't wear them, but I'd very much like to enjoy going again! Nonetheless, I'm grateful that the year before all this garbage happened, we did some really fun stuff.

- I have a lot of good childhood memories, to be honest, and I'm thankful for that. I'd say one of my favorites would have to be family gatherings. Sadly, my extended family has become rather distant from us since my great grandparents passed away but when I was a kid, we'd always have these big gatherings, particularly on Christmas, where we'd visit my grandparents' house and have lunch, then go to my great grandparents' house (they lived nearby) and have dinner with the extended family. It was always really nice. I loved it when I would talk to my grandmother and say "Grandma", and my great grandmother overheard me and thought I was calling for her. In hindsight, loved hearing the stupid toilet jokes and chats about military history and guns that my uncles would have. I loved it when my great grandmother let me watch a few episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender on her TV after most of the family had gone home. Like I said, when my great grandparents passed away, we lost a lot of that and most of the family lost touch but I really think back on those memories fondly and hope to recreate that someday down the road with the future generations.

*What is one good memory/moment you can recall involving yourself and/or family/friends over the last 1-2 years?*

Two summers ago, I finally brought my longtime girlfriend home to the US from Japan, for the first time. She got to meet my entire family, two of my best friends and their families, and we spent two weeks visiting museums and gorging on US foods and taking the younger family members to various parks, a zoo, and a science center. She later told me she hadn't been so happy in years... I'm so glad I didn't wait another year to go... for obvious reasons...

*What is one good memory/moment you can recall from your childhood?*

My grandmother lived on a 70-80 year old farm out in Iowa, that her father ordered from a Sears catalogue and built himself. Pretty much every summer we'd go on a 6 hour drive up to her house, where we'd help her snap green beans for dinner, or bake apple or pumpkin pies, explore the attic or just go out and moo at all her cows... If we had timed our visit for it, she would drive us into town for the local July 4th parade, which was a high-point for us, because the farmers and the local social clubs, the firefighters, the police, the doctors and nurses, the veterans, every one of them would throw treats to the kids as their groups passed by driving their shiny cars and trucks... it was like a mini-Halloween in reverse, where the people in costumes came to us to give out candy. I still think back fondly to those July 4th parades, and my grandmother's farm.

Yep, I did say jumping. And there was spinning too. Most people probably don't even know it exists on roller skates = especially competitively - but it does: it's basically figure skating on roller skates, to make it simple and understandable.

Think like the stuff Paul Wylie, Scott Hamilton, Tara Lipinski (former roller skater, when she was little...before transferring to ice skating) and other legends do....but transfer that style over onto roller skates. Quad-roller skates, not the roller-blade.

Side note - though there were events w/ roller-blades for doing this stuff, but it was nowhere near as popular competitively. It never took off, for artistic skating (i.e. figure skating).

I have a similar memory, but with a family member teaching me cursive writing: I could only print at the time, so they offered to teach me.....I would then sometimes go to their house and they would teach me how to write each letter, and then as a reward for a job well done we'd often watch movies and eat & i'd also sometimes get an extra snack as well. :)

Yeah, I try not to be a cynical pessimist but with the way the world went absolutely bonkers this past year, I just feel like we lived through some special times that we may never get back, at least not entirely. I hope I'm wrong, though! Thanks for adding my entry!

Thanks for this giveaway and your continued generosity.

I am in but for Shadow Man, since I am a happy owner of that title already.

A good memory from childhood is the exploration with some friends of a few nooks and secrets of an emblematic ancient construction in my home city, including some tunnels below. These tunnels and several of those not too well known places are no longer accessible to the public nowadays. In some cases, due to barriers of brick and mortar.

A good recent memory of time with my family has been sharing some good news this week, which has been really great.
