matterbandit: Thx for the generosity! :) Not in for the giveaway, but I am in for sharing a good childhood memory... ;)

I can't recall what age I was exactly, but I remember my mom sitting next to me to help me with my homework and that homework consisted of me learning how to write the alphabet. I remember using a pencil to painstakingly trace every single letter of the alphabet (small caps and large caps). I remember how difficult it was, but my mom would hold the pencil with me and help me trace those letters I was struggling with the most. I remember being very happy of her help and smiles. I did not know this at that time, but later in life I learned that both my parents grew up with illiteracy well up to their early teenage years (poor village, schooling for those who could afford it). So when I replay this memory of my mom holding that pencil with me to trace those letters, it's just all the more special to me. :)

GamezRanker: I have a similar memory, but with a family member teaching me cursive writing: I could only print at the time, so they offered to teach me.....I would then sometimes go to their house and they would teach me how to write each letter, and then as a reward for a job well done we'd often watch movies and eat & i'd also sometimes get an extra snack as well. :)

Vingry: Far back in my elementary school years, my friends and I used to play different games together, one of them being the hide and seek. So there was one time when the person who would usually pick me up after I'm done from school actually arrived in the middle of the game. Thankfully, I was not the it. (My memory's kinda blurry at this point) So what happened was, I managed to tell the other hiders that I'd be going home now, and also requested for them to keep the whole thing a secret, at least until the it had finally shown hints of desperation trying to look for me (Again, as I said, I don't exactly remember what I told my friends who were playing as the hiders, but I remember conversing with them about something related to the game before I bid them farewell. And that request of mine seems to be the only piece that fits the void in the puzzle best).

I hope that story entertained you haha. :)

- Back before this COVID thing utterly ruined society, when we still had free life, the summer of 2019 was one of my favorite summers ever because we could actually do stuff. My family did a load of things together but my favorite part was probably when we all went to a small town festival in my home town. Despite being a small town, this festival is a pretty big deal and it's just an awesome time to hang out and celebrate the rich history/heritage of my home. That year was the first year since I was a kid that we actually did more than just grab a bit of festival food: we actually stuck around for a few hours, enjoyed the parade and just savored the fun and the atmosphere of a celebration of the town's history. I hear they're planning to do it this year, after all, I just hope it's free from mask policies because I don't wear them, but I'd very much like to enjoy going again! Nonetheless, I'm grateful that the year before all this garbage happened, we did some really fun stuff.

GamezRanker: Sounds like fun(I used to go to lawn fetes/carnivals/etc several times a year long ago, when I has less mental issues to deal with).

Btw I also hope tptb "allow us" to get back to normalcy soon enough, so you and others(among other things) can enjoy such things once more. :)

JakobFel: - I have a lot of good childhood memories, to be honest, and I'm thankful for that. I'd say one of my favorites would have to be family gatherings. Sadly, my extended family has become rather distant from us since my great grandparents passed away but when I was a kid, we'd always have these big gatherings, particularly on Christmas, where we'd visit my grandparents' house and have lunch, then go to my great grandparents' house (they lived nearby) and have dinner with the extended family. It was always really nice. I loved it when I would talk to my grandmother and say "Grandma", and my great grandmother overheard me and thought I was calling for her. In hindsight, loved hearing the stupid toilet jokes and chats about military history and guns that my uncles would have. I loved it when my great grandmother let me watch a few episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender on her TV after most of the family had gone home. Like I said, when my great grandparents passed away, we lost a lot of that and most of the family lost touch but I really think back on those memories fondly and hope to recreate that someday down the road with the future generations.

Realizing that I can use and enjoy an electric scooter, like xiaomi m365, because of my health I can't use a car/bus to go on big distance...

Carradice: A good memory from childhood is the exploration with some friends of a few nooks and secrets of an emblematic ancient construction in my home city, including some tunnels below. These tunnels and several of those not too well known places are no longer accessible to the public nowadays. In some cases, due to barriers of brick and mortar.
If I may ask: catacombs/crypts like the ones in Paris, or mines/commercial ruins like in other places?

Btw: did you mean they bought a FARM out of a catalog??? If so, then wow.

What he bought from Sears was the house, it came to them in iowa, in pieces, and he put it together on the farmland that they had bought or been given, I'm not sure of the details of that... Sears used to be like Amazon, the biggest game in town if you wanted to buy... anything... and you really could buy almost anything from them. Now that I think about it, they were also a lot like Ikea, since he had to build the thing from instructions, on his own (or I assume, with other people helping, but I was never clear on the details.)

Actually it was a citadel/palace where the lord of the land used to abide. There are large gardens inside as well, all enclosed by its own ramparts and towers. It was open all day and visitors could free roam. The restrictions were less than those nowadays, and also they were easier to bypass by determined children.

It was said that there were tunnels, but few people knew the truth of it. At least one that led to the nearby temple (which has its own rich history as well), used mostly to attend discreetly. The other one was supossed to go towards the river, in order to possibly complement the water from the wells inside the citadel, and also to allow for discreet exits. It was said also that more tunnels for other discreet exits could exist. This happened to be true.

Do you remember the long summers of childhood? That summer we were feeling curious about the place and getting to know its nooks and hidden spaces. I think that we were lucky since the wood structures that completely blocked the access to a part of the palace portion of the citadel were removed. That allowed for exploration. Maybe in winter the tunnels could have been damp, but in summer they were just cool and actually comfortable. It was very nice to find the truth behind the legend. However, it became apparent that the reason for removing the wooden structures (think wooden walls) was that they were going to block the entrance to the tunnels with brick and mortar., as the works started some weeks later after our discovery. By the end of the summer, no one could ever enter those tunnels anymore, and people would not even figure out where the entrances actually were (they did a good job). I guess that the famous tunnels slipped back into the realm of legend again.

I have a good memory from my childhood, when I went to the cyber café with my friends, we spend all our allowance in one day playing Sven Co-op, we finished almost all the maps availables, my mother beat up my ass when I arrived hope for being absent all day without and spend all my money, but it worth it XD

As for good recent memory:
There were some uncertainties in our family related to health conditions in recent times. Thank god everything is good now. Being able to have a nice walk in nice weather after uncertain times was really a happy moment for us. Currently we're in strict lockdown :)

Oh that's what you meant.....I thought he bought the entire farm(like pre built, land and buildings and all) out of a catalog. :D

Yes, the one and only Sven. Also played the two you mentioned, both are great games, specially They Hunger, also recently played Half Life Echoes, a short but sweet expansion-like mod. Another game I play all the time in that era was Quake 3 Arena, and Call of Duty, I spent all my money in the cyber XD
In that time was an avid players of multiplayers now I barely touch any MP game! :(

The most exciting thing I can remember from my childhood is my first time going to a movie theater. It was on Sunday afternoon and I went with my dad. We had caramel popcorn and pepsi, it was a luxury for a child, like many other fast food at that time. I think I enjoyed the food more than the movie.

And the first widescreen movie that I saw, was........... CAPTAIN AMERICA.
But not the one released in 2011, it was THIS ONE! The Original Captain America, or so I thought (I prefer Chris Evans.)

I used to do the same thing long ago with family...such fun times :)
(of course after awhile we started bringing our own snacks, as the theater had limited selection & was pricey[back then it was like 4 US dollars for a large soda and the same for popcorn....it's likely much more now])

One of my memories is going to see the film Galaxy Quest on release day(Dec 24th) as a young lad.....it was snowing and my parents didn't want to drive me at first but eventually they gave in(and i'm glad they did as it's one of my most cherished memories of the cinema).

I vaguely remember that movie. The theaters were giving out trading cards. I remember feeling excited and disappointed. Maybe because the classic Red Skull only had a short screen time.
