darthspudius: A bit of both. The vocal harmonies, the guitar solos, vocal harmonies and some pretty time changes.

Blood Religion is a pretty good example. Any Queen fan knows fine where that main riff came from!

Melvinica: I kind of grew up with Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Anathema but I like a lot of other bands too, more on the doom side.

Not in.

darthspudius: Have you heard Paradise Lost's new album yet? I just got a promo copy for my website and it's pretty bleak. I loved it.
I only listened to two of the new songs and I can hardly wait for the album to be released.

Personally speaking, I think it's their best album yet.

TrissMerigoldsMan: Are you referring to Judas Priest's Painkiller? That was the best Priest album, but I am not sure about the best metal album ever.

My Uncle has us all listening to Alestorm now.

darthspudius: Nah, Painkiller is and always will be a great record but it is pretty one track. No real variety. Compared to Defenders of Faith, British Steel, Hell Bent For Leather and Victim of Changes... it is too much of a good thing.

Of course ( and no offense) but younger fans I know tend to think it is the best one because it is super fast, lightning speed power metal stuff but that is a draw back in itself. The band have so many different qualities going on that limiting it to one album and specifically THAT style is just not healthy.

In terms of creativity itself, Nostradamus stomps all over it.

Alestorm are pretty good too. I like the music but the vocals grind a little.
Nostradamus is seriously underrated! I can't for the life of me understand why nobody seemed to like it, other than the fact that it's not Painkiller V2.

I think that says it all really. Did you see their tour?! The Nostradamus material was most excellent and so heavy live.
