The best heavy metal album ever released is the Painkiller. That's what I have to say.

Not in.
Me please! I am a sucker for heavy metal and music in general :P They sound like Iron Maiden and probably many more heavey metal - power metal bands.

As in Priest? If so... great album but their 80s stuff was so much better. :P

They've created 10x more interesting music than iron maiden in the past 20 yrs. Sadly those boys lost it a long time ago... quite unfortunate. But yeah Power metal all the way \m/

Are you referring to Judas Priest's Painkiller? That was the best Priest album, but I am not sure about the best metal album ever.

My Uncle has us all listening to Alestorm now.

Nah, Painkiller is and always will be a great record but it is pretty one track. No real variety. Compared to Defenders of Faith, British Steel, Hell Bent For Leather and Victim of Changes... it is too much of a good thing.

Of course ( and no offense) but younger fans I know tend to think it is the best one because it is super fast, lightning speed power metal stuff but that is a draw back in itself. The band have so many different qualities going on that limiting it to one album and specifically THAT style is just not healthy.

In terms of creativity itself, Nostradamus stomps all over it.

Alestorm are pretty good too. I like the music but the vocals grind a little.

Keelhaul him :o)
Priest definately, per the username. I would point out in favour of maiden the seventh son album and fear of the dark song though.

Seventh Son and Fear of The Dark are great songs/albums. Though I always preferred Maidens first three albums. They had a lot of balls back then. Kind of lost it after Piece of Mind.

I kind of grew up with Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Anathema but I like a lot of other bands too, more on the doom side.

and can't stop. :)

not in but thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I can't decide what my favourite metal band is, only that it has to be from Scandinavia (including Finland and all islands).
Still, here's two songs that I really enjoy:
Týr - Regin smiður https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Zy60YGs81k
Ensiferum - Lai lai hei https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEekU065iw0

Have you heard Paradise Lost's new album yet? I just got a promo copy for my website and it's pretty bleak. I loved it.
never heard of them

If you like Queen you should like some of their stuff. It's like queen on speed.

A bit of both. The vocal harmonies, the guitar solos, vocal harmonies and some pretty time changes.

Blood Religion is a pretty good example. Any Queen fan knows fine where that main riff came from!
