Cavalary: Oh, yeah, nvm, just noticed that. So the GOG version is at least up to date despite apparently being listed as 1.0 (according to GOGDB) when the 2014 version got some updates too way back?
Last update (as far as I can tell) was in 2015, while the game was released on GOG 3 years later. They'd have to go out of the way to bring an earlier version here (not impossible, but highly unlikely).

Grargar: Not the same game. GOG has the 2014 version. The one you have linked is the 2023 reboot.

This is most likely just a version number disparity between stores.

According to the games changelog on Steam the last version of the game is 1.6 and that update came out in March 2015. Since I'm pretty sure GOG got the game later than that it is reasonable to assume we have the latest version.

P.S.: According to the store page the game has Chinese language. According to the changelog that was added with the patch 1.5, so we know we do not have the actual 1.0 version.
Came across a particular situation with Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded: despite missing the Linux build, the game was included into the GOG preservation program. Turns out, the game was de-listed from Steam. While it's regrettable that the Linux version remains unavailable on GOG, I'll remove the entry because technically there's no more a discrepancy between GOG and Steam in that sense.

I decided to remove Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 from the spreadsheet. I compared the GOGDB and the SteamDB pages and the Steam version reports only two updates after the last update on GOG, none of which has an official change log. The first update was the addition of a "OpenSSL_workaround.cmd" file and the second update was an edit on it, then both updates report a "Manifest ID changed". The latter is a matter of Steam inner workings and has nothing to do with the actual game files, but from the few information I found, it appears the same goes for that file. It seems to me there's no solid evidence that the GOG version is missing something

According to IsThereAnyDeal, The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales has an artbook DLC (The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales - Digital Artbook) that's sold only on Steam.

Steam keys for it are still available from key shops (both official and grey market). I think it still belongs.

(And even if the Steam version wasn't available anymore, this is still the sort of thing I would want to know about, if I were interested in the game.)
On "Chained Echoes" the 2 OST are missing and it does not seem like it is being updated any time soon. Dunno the reason but the facts are proven.

I do not enjoy this statement but it may hurt the GOGers in many ways. Because publishers may as well say "on GOG not so good sales" but the facts are... if the people do not see a full and updated package on GOG they may go elsewhere, thus lowering the sales, which in the end can be damaging to GOG and it is not just "a matter of support or preference".

I absolutely dunno how it comes, as i was not involved in any process. Perhaps GOG or the publisher was able to get a "better deal" if it is provided without OST, which seems weird to me because for the users it will rarely be seen as a good deal if stuff are missing, just stating facts. Ultimately, the piracy will not go down, it will only go up, so everyone against it will lose. The whole behavior is pointless to me, yet i do not share the same brain... and the other "brains" are unknown to me, as they did not share any statement.

Sure i can go talk to the dev but it is usually useless because as soon as the rights has been handed over to a foreign publisher their hands and mind is "shackled"; it usually will be decided by the publisher and no one else, unless the dev was reserving some special rights in any contract. I only hope that the decisions done are beneficial for GOG, the games economy as a whole and the gamers, as this should be the main focus.

Fair point. I updated the list, but with explicit mention of the possibility to buy the Steam version of the game from other key shops. Because that should be the emphasis of the list, the discrepancy between GOG and other digital stores. If, for example, non-English localisations of a game aren't available both on GOG and Steam and can only be found in old retail discs, that would no longer be an issue that is unique of GOG, and would be outside the scope of this thread.

I reread the OP with the special mentions and the list ends with

"Republique

Riot: Civil Unrest"

but it does ot say what's so special with these ...
Whatever the OP forgot to say, the current spreadsheet is updated: Riot: Civil Unrest counts 5 issues, Republique was delisted but still appears in the "Removed Games" section and counted 4 issues
That's a good point, I should probably just remove the special mentions bit there in the forum post?

For me it's kind of a moot point because it's obvious that it's a 5 years old post and it's no longer accurate but yeah, you can just remove them

EDIT: Actually, I take that back. Either remove or update the Special Mentions here on the forum. But most importantly, add the links to the browser "GOG 2nd Class Helper" extension:

Heads up: SimCity 3000 has a Mac OS version and isn't on the list.
The GOG release of Heroes of Hammerwatch is currently on version 106_test2 which is dated 2020-04-29, whereas the Steam release is currently on version 115 which is dated 2024-11-27.

If you mean "SimCity 3000 Unlimited" then there's no Mac OS version on Steam and Epic either. If there was a Mac retail version but no digital store got the rights for it then it's outside the scope of this thread, which is strictly about comparing digital stores
