I posted here https://www.gog.com/forum/general/state_of_bcustomer_experience_b_9a7bd/post352 at the time. Securom is still very much active in the two expansions for FEAR.

Holy Fuck! :(

My first thought was "meh, necro of an issue solved years ago" and now we have active DRM. Eww. I mean I'm sure its not intentional placed by gog; but their negligence in that case...

What happened to you gog? You where once quite talkative; now you only open up a bit when the shit hits the fan hard like with the galaxy stuffed into installers and even there it was... not really good interaction with your community. I guess the answer is just that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYsWWpyvhWU :/

I'm glad I resisted getting the Fear games for lack of gaming time and backlog overflow. *sigh* Another dent to my inner impulse buy switch.

You need an actual brain for that to occur.

Why not start your "we make everything better now" with the promised fix?

You'll have to start a fire under their arses for that to happen sooner than soon™.

Seems to me you are about right, but only time will tell.
Maybe if the post keeps getting bumped up it will eventually result in the issue being addressed by GOG.

The solution should be simple, though. Simply remove or replace FEARMP.EXE so that even if the user accidentally clicks on the multiplayer button it won't fire off the installer that puts the SecuROM files on the machine. I mean, it could be replaced with an executable that does nothing at all, or one that pops up a warning message to tell the user that the multiplayer element was removed from the game (it was replaced with a standalone multiplayer game, though I don't even know if that still has active servers and players). In any case, Windows 10 doesn't allow SecuROM to be installed (or at least older versions of SecuROM anyway). But for such a small fix this has dragged on way too long.
Only 2 more months and this celebrates its 3 year birthday. Who wants to bet against me when I say this will not be solved before 20.02.2018?
