idbeholdME: I've seen multiple spells cast per turn before but is there an actual limit? Or can I cast 5 spells in a single turn?
I don't know if each person is different, but my understanding from Doc is that I can cast spells 12 times from my pool of spells, after which it is done until 10 turns are up, at which point that 12 is reset.
So I'm guessing we can cast as many as we like in one turn, as long as it stays within that limit.
"Damnit! That Drow spy will alert whoever is ahead of our presence! Shoot her, before she gets out of sight!" - Beldarion tries to speed up the pace a little bit, - no traps should be present ahead, as either the ghouls and the drow have managed to pass this part of the tunnel without harm - but keeping his back against the right wall -so that the party can use ranged attacks- and trying not to separate from the group, as he suspects this could be some sort of trap/ambush. If, by chance, he manages to catch with the drow, he'll let Waihyra do the greetings.

Every class has different number of casts (I can cast 7 times for example), which resets every 10 turns.

I was just not sure if for example when you can cast spells 12 times, if you can cast 12 spells in a single turn. Seems a bit silly if you could just save all your spells and on turn 9 cast 12x Ball of Holy Light or I could just spam out 7x Fireball :P

EDIT:
Gonna ask Doc in chat.

Except if you want to cast all your remaining offensive spells on an unknown and probably powerful group of witches, I suggest to turn back, down the portcullis and follow a new path.

There is also the adjoining tunnel on the left, but it's maybe a dead-end ?

Think of the possible loot though :O. If we prepare properly, we should be able to best them.

Also regarding the 2 arrows shot at the witches by Zayd that bounced away. Could they have some magic shield on them that deflects missiles? The "pfft" sound could be some barrier reacting to the arrows. I also have Dispel Magic in my arsenal. I could cast it on them, hoping to remove any active protection they might have.

*Roosevelt sits up in his cage and lays healing hands upon himself to relieve some of his pain. He realizes he has had all his gear taken except his small clothes. He starts to pray fervently, even energetically, shouting defiant praise to the Gods for allowing him to survive this long and giving him the strength to fight until the end.*

"Thank you, lords, for your strength and love in giving me the POWER to STAND-UP for those weaker than I. THANK YOU for blessing me with the ability to face down these FOUL WENCHES and their CANABALISTIC WAYS!"

*His prayers grow ever louder as he begins a search of his cage for anything that might be of use. Bones, pieces of metal, anything he can find that may assist him in any way*

"If you think you three will simply eat my flesh, I warn you, I'm tougher than old shoe leather and twice as smelly! I do not fear your rotten cores for I am already promised life eternal with the Gods."

++ROOSEVELT HEALS HIMSELF, THEN PRAYS LOUDLY WHILE SEARCHING HIS CAGE FOR ANYTHING USEFUL, AND VERBALLY DEFYING HIS CAPTORS++

HAHAHA YES I GUESSED IT CORRECTLY!! I thought after reading that you were teleported away by the hag, and basically getting confirmation by Doc that it might be witches ahead when I was asking about something, that you probably ended up where we heard that cackling. And there you are! My condolences, by the way, however rest assured, that we will most likely try to save you!

Yes, It's maybe the best way. Otherwise, we have no chance !
59 - Cicatrix - Drow Ranger - turn 8

As Cicatrix begins to (carefully) check the around the corner for traps or ambushes, preparing to sneak down the corridor if it looks safe to do so, she hears some human preparing to attack her. Logically she knows that the tunnel is the greater threat, but her background makes her unduly worried about the larger warrior's intentions.

She won't attack him outright, but if he closes to within 3 metres (10') she'll use her hidden weapon. A sleeping warrior presents less threat.

gogtrial34987: OOC: We easily dealt with the two ghouls we encountered (killing them on turn 6). Do you have reason to believe there's more ghouls ahead? I personally expect us to encounter the source of "the cackle" next.
I reread everything before the post, I just got confused as to what was where, sorry.

babark: Are you sure it is 5 minutes and not 5 turns?
Minutes seems an odd measure here.
avatar
idbeholdME: I asked Doc in chat and he responded "5 minutes" :P. Seemed weird to me too but who am I to question the DM?

Anyway, it seems that the original guess of witches is correct. I suppose it is time for me to start spamming the Reflect Spells then. Who is going to take point and engage the witches in melee? Those will be the ones who receive it.

I've seen multiple spells cast per turn before but is there an actual limit? Or can I cast 5 spells in a single turn?
"Do you hear that? There must be a cleric or a paladin up ahead, captive! We should attempt to save him!"

Witches usually come in threes, so it's safe to assume there will be at least three foes. They must be very powerful, since they managed to kill the bugbear and Holy guardian. You're right, it could be a magic barrier, Dispel Magic should work in that case.

*metagaming begins*
You're right, it's a magic barrier preventing attacks (not sure about magical ones) that can be dispelled by Dispel Magic. Funnily enough, I thought the pfft sound was the witches laughing at how the barrier deflected the arrows, not the sound the barrier made when it was hit. They're not witches but hags, highly resistant to magic, and have high str/con according to DnD lore (and it seems the same or similar here according to the other thread), so they're definitively powerful.*metagaming end*

Speaking of buffs, Reflect Spells doesn't stack well with the Globe of Protection - GoP first protects/absorbs and RS works after that. So if we want RS to reflect spells, we should move out of the Globe's reach and move in after the RS stops working.

Does RS wear off after it reflect the first spell, or is it unlimited for the 5 rounds? Unlike Magic Shield, which dissipated after being hit by the ward?

Since me and Smarty volunteered to take point, I'm guessing both of us don't mind engaging the enemies (I don't, as long as I don't go alone, as that would be suicidal, I think). Ideally, since you're a fighter as well, you could buff yourself and come along, and if we manage it, we could even try to free whoever is up there and aid us. Perhaps Max could try that, and give him my spare sword and shield? Clerics and paladins both can use shield/sword.

So I suggest I, Smarty, Svartalf gets Reflect Spells, and rushes the witches. And you, svartalf, dispels the magic barrier - there might be more of them, so it's better to keep the remaining 2 slots for Dispel Magic.

And Max+Babargh+anyone else could try going in to support us with more spells and if they see the victim, free him, and give him my spare sword/shield.

Edit: More metagaming: I'm guessing that Magic Mirror will most likely be good at reflecting magic, and we might be joined this or next turn by the other group.
Dunward Human Mage:
"It looks like the hasty nature of our warrior companion clouds his senses once again, lets follow him before he gets himself into trouble!"
Dunward follows Says Beldarion preparingfireball spell so that it can be casted on enemy if Says Beldarion nor any of the companions is not in the blast radius. With no intention to harm the Drow unless it harms Says Beldarion.
Dunward shouts to Says Beldarion:
"Leve the Drow, she did no harm to us! Alone she will probably perish in this dungeon weakening or distracting whatever is before us!"

Doc said that either 5 turns or until they absorb/reflect enough damage.

Also, there is NO limit to the number of spells you can cast per turn. So any spellcasters nearby should not hesitate to use them since we apparently have a very difficult fight on our hands. Next turn is going to be turn 9 and all spells recharge on turn 10. Unload everything you've got.

Also:
Do we have a spare shield in our party? IIRC, you have one you are currently not using on your back @Eranear. I realized that I only have a one-handed hammer and nothing else. After I cast the spells, a shield would come in handy. I could carry it on my back when casting spells and pull it out it in melee if necessary. You have a superior one equipped. (Unless a shield on the back actually protects against stuff hitting your from the back).

EDIT:
I will post my action tomorrow when more people decide what they want to do so I can cast the spells on proper people.

Yes I do, I was actually offering to give it to Max along with my sword in the tactic I proposed for the upcoming fight, so that the rescued cleric/paladin could have it as soon as he's free and join the fray, but if you don't have one I can give it to you, so you can better defend yourself during the fight.

Btw make sure to ask Doc if spells recharge on turn ten or after it, since recharging after ten turns might mean they actually come back on turn eleven.

I can try to liberate the captive but I need a derivation. The hags must remain focus on warriors, while I use my lockpicks to open the cage. I will also need to check if the cage is not trapped first !
Babargh has to assist and protect me during the operation.
A risky plan !

1 : cast everything you can !
2 : go to the close combat with the hags, while Babargh and me try to sneak and free Roosevelt.
3 : checking traps on and around the cage and open it. Giving him a sword and a shield to fight.
4 : slay the bitches !
5 : profit !
