Thanks for the list, I really hate when they add DRM to single player games(or any game for that matter).
just in case, this post is reserved for future use

Game: Beat Hazard 2
Behaviour: Online-activation-like DRM
(single-player game) (GOG version)

The game is completely unplayable without an internet connection after installation. When you start the game after you have installed it without an internet connection it will be stuck endlessly on loading player statistics (maybe created / saved on some server) and you won't be able to get past that screen. So you are completely locked out of the actual game. This was my experience.
Reminds me of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam. Without you loggin into Xbox Live you won't get past the title screen after installation.
Beat Hazard 2 maybe loggs into some other service provider for player statistics. Reviews pointed out this problem with Beat Hazard 2 somewhat similar.

Maybe someone else could replicate or confirm this problem.

Thank you for the warning. Did you report this behaviour to GOG and the devs and request that the DRM be removed? And if you did, was there any reaction?

I was curious and just checked the reviews for said game ... it seems to be worse:

"... has secret DRM. It's using SOAP to login a user and has bugs that error out if you disconnect during certain actions in the game. Either way the developer has turned to scum by putting secret backend monitoring software inside his 'drm free' game."

This was from 2020 and then there's this one:

"Requires Internet connection
I tried playing this game, but it wouldn't work at all. It tried to access the Internet (something to do with aws.amazon.com), I saw no reason why this should be necessary and blocked it. The game hung entirely. Which makes it completely useless to me.
I really wish that I payed more attention to the review that said "error out if you disconnect". A complete waste of money."

From November 2022 !

So why this is still on GOG is a mystery to me. On the same site we can read the usual:
"No activation or online connection required to play. "
Which is nothing more than a lie. Maybe I will buy it just to refund it with the explanation that it is DRM'd and cannot be played without online connection ... just to see if that would make GOG wake up from their sleeping beauty sleep.

Edit: Just contacted the support from coldbeamgames.com and demanded them to fix the issue as the game is not GOG comform right now.

I guess not as many people care about this piece of junk than about Hitman :)

GOG does demand offline playability, ask the creators of Colossal Cave about that.
In this case they might just not be aware that they missed it. Did anyone try to report this properly?

I have refunded the game shortly after I had discovered this problem (as I need the games I purchase to work offline). I also have now reported the problem to GOG support. Hopefully something changes.

mqstout: Cult of the Lamb update fixed the "softlock if offline" DRM I ran into before.
Can it be re-confirmed and re-tested by more folks, is it fully certain? Was it done exacyly the same way and is 100% reproducible on both (e.g. one always fails, another always succeeds), right? The official sources appear to be extremely silent, no loud statements on removal, nothing. You know, considering there was some mess up with a DLC, one may think no DRM is an accidental "error" and that the DRM would return even if not present right now. It needs to be looked closely long-term in my opinion, the developers are not to be trusted and nobody guarantees there wasn't something else put or changed to achieve some other DRM Unfree result.

I used the exact save file that reproduced the major one every time before the update, and did not after. As I said, I did not do a full test of the game; only the reported softlock. I didn't test the earlier-in-the-game one that was only sometimes, but another forumer tested that he it was able to get by that moment without any problems reliably.

I understand your hesitation: The developer has definitely earned a bad reputation for this and trust was absolutely and needs to be earned back. But, near as I can tell, they removed it. At least those early in the title. It's possible there were more moments later in the game. In the other thread (about the update itself), someone mentioned it was going to do a full play through offline to verify. That kind of thing can take time, obviously.
I don't have the game, but I did notice that "Warhammer Underworlds – Shadespire Edition" has a minimum system requirement of "Network:
Broadband Internet connection". Can someone who has bought the game check whether that is indeed a requirement?
nvm

I have time before my RPG session since I'm player and not GM tonight. Testing.

Note1: Downloading offline installers, game's titled "Warhammer Underworlds Online"

Downloaded offline installers.
Ensured Galaxy and any services were closed.
(This computer computer does have 1.2 installed.)
Disabled network adapter.
Run offline installer.
Note title name: C:\gog\Warhammer Underworlds Online
Start game.
2x nag screens, +title screen nag.
NAG SCREEN #1 INDICATES THERE ARE SKINS GATED BEHIND ONLINE PLAY
Make options/preferences changes and exit game.
Start game again
Nag screens repeat.
Preferences persisted.
Click "begin".
First tutorial.
Windows firewall request/alert. (Verified network is still off; it is. Ignore request.)
Rush through tutorial mission.
Exit game.
Restart game.
It remembered that I had completed that mission.
Did not try deckbuilding -- ran out of time. But it did take me to that screen after the first win. I didn't know how to get back to it.

Aside, this game looks like shit for being 15 GB.
Had pretty not-good performance and didn't feel like so good a title.

Overall:
Yes, belongs on this list. But, no, the requirements are not accurate and it does have at least basic offline functionality.

EDIT: Requested refund.

So, the warning: "needs online connection for full functionality" would be correct?
