how does dreamlist work? whether a game is chosen depends on strictly on votes alone? any other factors as well?

i have some games that i wish to be published but they got low votes so far. top votes are like 20000. mines are 150 and

300.

The Dreamlist is a list where we vote which games we want to be brought on GOG. However, even if a game gathers 100.000 votes, it doesn’t mean that it will surely be brought here. There are many other factors, apart from customers’ wishes, that can contribute to make it happen or not.

Edit: 1) The most important factor is the will of the publisher company. Do the publishers want their game to be sold DRM-free? Unfortunately, most of them don't. That's why they prefer the other online stores.
2) For games that the publisher and/or the developer doesn't exist anymore, the situation is even more complex.

A: The Dreamlist is a very well intentioned PR stunt.

Given the sheer number of erroneous entries and errata: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/mo_dreamlist_mo_problems_reporting_thread/ , it's rather obvious that it was not a hand picked, curated list.

We don't know what the mechanisms of the Dreamlist are, much less what the staff are planning to do with this new influx of data.

Given the opacity of the staff on most matters due to various PR disasters, and that GOG has the negotiation skills of an ill goat*...I'm sure well is meant, but not had.

We don't even know what the notification mechanism is for the if/when a game we have on the dreamlist is released, or a game we wish added to the dreamlist breaches though the darkness of the veil of "wow, you really picked an obscure one there, sport".

*There are games that have appeared on various stores that lack features that GOG does, so it isn't a lack of modding platforms, achievements, or anything consumer facing; we know there are things GOG could be doing to make themselves more attractive to potential devpubs: automatic invoicing chief among them. (And if that's but a false rumor, some clarity on the matter makes well to squash that.)

Consider how most countries have a lottery system. People dream of being the one that gets it. Same logic can be applied to the gog staff, pretending to to care about preserving games.

They could provide original files. But they wont. Staff could talk to us. But they dont. At this point, they seem similar to how google paid off mozilla, to avoid an anti trust.
The Dreamlist is just a new, redesigned version of the community wishlist. It loads up more information and presents it in a "modern" fashion (with all the problems that entails as well), but that's about it in practical terms, so what it mainly is is, as dnovraD said, a good PR stunt. It's far more visible than the old wishlist and got some mentions in the news and visibility and even hype for GOG. But whether a game actually ends up being on GOG has no more to do with the number of Dreamlist votes than it did with the number of Community Wishlist votes. GOG staff will likely go through the entries with at least a certain number of votes (for the Community Wishlist it was said in a number of interviews that the threshold was 500) every so often and attempt to contact rightsholders, if they're known, but whether anything good happens after that is almost entirely the decision of said rightsholders. Or, in case of games that are in legal hell, it's a matter of legal experts tracking down the rights and making it so one entity is able to obtain a resale license, which may well be impossible in plenty of cases.

Edit: Did see it said that the GOG Picks may be games that are most likely to be added soon, but I'm thinking that it's more likely a list of games that GOG is making or has made the most effort for. For example now, with a JRPG having been listed in a recent interview as the next major release in the Preservation Program (an even better PR stunt, that, and also with more work put in it, truth be told), Breath of Fire IV seems likely, and the Silent Hills probably are as well, but Freelancer, being a Microsoft game, seems to land squarely in the "not a snowflake's chance in Hell" territory, so it's likely there because, according to some old articles I stumbled into, GOG really put a whole lot of effort into getting it, but it ultimately went nowhere.

Not a single game that I've voted for has made it onto GOG. It's utterly useless.

RIP GOG, time to die. :'-(

Did you vote for any small indie titles? Those have the best chance.

I think between the votes on the old Community Wishlist and the Dreamlist's new votes, the Wish and Dream lists helped to get Breath of Fire IV onto GOG.

...Were you expecting your votes, in particular, to be the deciding factor? XD
All it is -- and all the Community Wishlist before it has ever been -- is a tool to give GOG some idea where to spend their very limited resources, as well as giving other companies something to look at to see what might be worth releasing here. But it's not magic, and there are lots of other considerations.

According to my dreamlist stats, I helped release 4 games here. You're welcome, everyone.

75056 games to vote for.
521 games released.
That means approximately 0.69% of the games on the dreamlist have been released. That includes titles like Thief Gold that's been in the store for over a decade. Set your expectations accordingly.

I imagine some games we have here aren't marked as "released" because the "completed" status on the Community Wishlist didn't transfer to the Dream list, like how vote counts from the Community Wishlist didn't transfer to all games on the Dreamlist.

Edit: I just went through the first 100 pages ranked by most votes, and there were probably 15-20 games not marked as released that should be. A small amount I know, but I wouldn't be surprised if the number increases exponentially as you keep going through the list. I'll be messaging Jed about this (in small increments).

Edit2: Well, the next 100 pages only increased it to about 35-40

Edit3: turns out I was only seeing unreleased games, had to set a filter to show all :P

I added an interesting game called charon zhetan chronicles but now i can't find it in the dreamlist anymore. Even though the game is unreleased status since still no full version the game seems to be deleted from the dreamlist for some reason.

Do you mean this? https://www.gog.com/dreamlist/game/charon-zhetan-chronicles

I don't blame you for not being able to find it. See the attached image.
