heime2003: how does dreamlist work? whether a game is chosen depends on strictly on votes alone? any other factors as well?
i have some games that i wish to be published but they got low votes so far. top votes are like 20000. mines are 150 and
300.
A: The Dreamlist is a very well intentioned PR stunt.
Given the sheer number of erroneous entries and errata:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/mo_dreamlist_mo_problems_reporting_thread/ , it's rather obvious that it was not a hand picked, curated list.
We don't know what the mechanisms of the Dreamlist are, much less what the staff are planning to do with this new influx of data.
Given the opacity of the staff on most matters due to various PR disasters, and that GOG has the negotiation skills of an ill goat*...I'm sure well is meant, but not had.
We don't even know what the notification mechanism is for the if/when a game we have on the dreamlist is released, or a game we wish added to the dreamlist breaches though the darkness of the veil of "wow, you really picked an obscure one there, sport".
*There are games that have appeared on various stores that lack features that GOG does, so it isn't a lack of modding platforms, achievements, or anything consumer facing; we know there are things GOG could be doing to make themselves more attractive to potential devpubs: automatic invoicing chief among them. (And if that's but a false rumor, some clarity on the matter makes well to squash that.)
