We used this year’s spring cleaning to dust off some of the great DOS classics.

Thanks to the partnership and long-time cooperation with the DOSBox Crew, together we’ve managed to enhance with cloud saves feature over 100 classics, with more to come.

Since the introduction of the Universal Cloud Saves to GOG Galaxy, the feature has been added to more and more all-time classics that never offered save syncing and cloud backups. Working closely with DOSBox Crew and adding cloud saves to older games is another step that we take to improve gamers experience with good old games.

Many of these cloud saves enabled DOS classics joined the Spring Sale line up offering savings for such must-haves like Colonization (-75%), Dungeon Keeper Gold (-75%), Heroes of Might and Magic (-75%), Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3 (-75%), Wing Commander III (-75%), classic X-COMs (-75%), and many more.

Kelefane: No Ultima 7?
Hopefully in the future.

AndresSM: I tested a few games and it works really nicely.
I hoped it would work for installers and stuff like that, but I guess that's on the pipeline. Anything that creates a dir fails currently.

Anyway this is pretty cool, I hope at some point we can load games for a ZIP (In dosbox, not really for GoG re-releases), that way I could launch my zipped copies and changes would be saved to the overlay, seems like a win-win!
Thanks for trying it out. Quite some effort was done to ensure it works on Linux like systems.

Zip support, sorry, we have no plans for that currently. If you want want save space, maybe use file system compression ?

It's indeed aimed at games that are already installed at the moment. As you noticed that creating dir fails (intentionally, to ensure a good internal state), but hopefully that limitation can be lifted at one point once the feature gets more mature.

MightyPinecone: Wow, you included some games that have been de-listed: awesome!
avatar
faroot: (Presuming that's sarcasm:)
No no no, that wasn't bad of Gog, it's a *good* thing, for two reasons:
(1) some of us bought the games before they were delisted (I did), so adding the feature is still a good thing, and
(2) presumably *some* day the publisher will start selling Duke Nukem 20th Anniversary here on Gog, and then either allow the classics to be relisted, or include Duke Nukem classic versions for free, and meanwhile the save game work is done and ready.
That wasn't sarcasm; but now that you say it, I can see how one could think so.

I have expected de-listed games (and games that have been made a part of the 'goodies' section rather than the main library) to be more or less abandoned, so I was genuinely glad to find that they had included them.

Qbix, 100% of these games are no longer playable for me, even after Verify/Repair, even after uninstall/reinstall.

There's no SDL error, the Galaxy play button is just ghosted and there's a disk access error message when it tries to update or repair or install.

I have dozens of these now-has-cloud-save DOS games installed, and they are ALL failing to update, and repair doesn't help, and uninstall/reinstall doesn't help.

So now none of them are playable. :(

I had no problems installing and running them in the past using Galaxy; this isn't a problem on my end, there's something wrong with the update itself -- possibly because my installation is on F:

Windows 7, installation on F:

This is really severe.

You are looking at the wrong person probably.
You should contact GOG and/or Galaxy support, as this sounds like a problem that your PC has with Galaxy.

Right, sorry, it's just that (A) as a programmer the symptoms make me think that the code is at fault (like having "C:" encoded in the source, perhaps), not my system, and (B) last time I filed a bug report it took 6 months to get 1/3 of the issue resolved (and a year since then nothing further has been fixed).

It was a long shot, I know you're the wrong person to talk to. I'm just feeling fatalistic that my 127 DOSBox games will ever work again.

Well, having a C hardcoded in my code is unlikely as it works pretty good on linux as well.

Maybe try an offline game installer and see if the new DOSBox works at your PC. If that works, then the problem is really something you should take up with the Galaxy team.

If it doesn't work, please post again and we can try to figure out why the new DOSBox doesn't work.
I have an issue and I'd love if some good folks or the dosbox techs could provide help.

My netbook has a small screen, so I prefer to play with the stretched full-screen, and not the "regulated" screen with the black bars on the side.

I know that if we change the dosbox config, it can do the trick. Like :

Full resolution = desktop
to
Full resolution = original

But is there a way to enable this option just by using the dosbox graphic display tool, instead of editing the config file?

I've tried to change the graphic tool, and use almost every option available, but I always seem to get the same resolution with the vertical black bars on the side.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A couple notes:
- Death Gate was only available for a couple months in early 2018. It got pulled on March 20, 2018.
- Softporn Adventure was bundled with Leisure Suit Larry, but is not listed on the game's page. May have been removed (not really the kinda guy to buy LSL, so I'm not checking).

Just in case further clarification is needed.

Thanks, that's appreciated. I added your info to my notes -- there's no sign that gog themselves made use of or cared that I dug all that up about the DOSBox games. :(

But at least it's there for readers of this thread.
Hello.
For master of orion 1 , cloud saves don't work because the line mount c".._cloud_saves t overlay ect... has been forgotten.

You must update the game please.

Thanks you.
