Just read on their official forums that the game will not be on GOG and they'll give backers another DRM-free route... this blows :(

Sounds like it did.
Probably want to see how it performs on the other platform first.

Yah, I'm a backer... really bummed about it... they had said many times "we're in talks with GOG" over the past couple months, but I guess they just didn't want it... who knows what we'll get in its place as a DRM-free option, I'll probably take the Steam key just so I don't have to be chasing down updates all the time... at least we got Egypt Old Kingdom today! /s

Underworld Ascendant release date: November 15th on Steam and Humble.

Maybe we can do something from our side?
GOG Community Wishlist
What in the absolute fuck...

You know, since the anniversary update I figured that the web designers were the most incompetent bunch of retards working for gog. But the "curators" just took the crown from right under their nose. Congratulations!
I can't imagine why GoG would reject this game for curation reasons. I suspect it came down to negotiations for the amount of GoG's cut falling through.

And the crap thing is... we'll never know... but what burns me the most is, I'm gonna take the Steam key, then two months down the line I'll see the feature that it's now available on GOG
I've chosen DRM free, not realizing that it wouldn't be GOG. I'm not opposed to Humble though, I've got lot's of games there too.

I wonder if the DRM free version from Humble will include a Steam key - that would truly be the best of both worlds.

I've had hit and miss success with Humble DRM-free... I've found it sometimes to be more of a "tack on" incentive, then the original DRM-free version that gets uploaded never gets an update... or worse... you have to manually go and seek out if there is an update yourself... to me, that's not even worth it... but yah, if they give us DRM-free plus a Steam key, It'd be a little easier to swallow

The messages left by Otherside on their Kickstarter comments re: gog's "curation" are pure WTF tier...

"The DRM-free version provided at launch would most likely NOT be GoG due to the timing!"

"We originally had a contract with GoG in 2015, but after being in talks with them recently leading up to launch, their curation system has changed and they can no longer host us on launch day."

What the fuck is this shit??? Even by gog "standards" this is beyond absurd.
I might very well be in the minority here but I'm fine with it not being available on launch if it eventually will be available on GoG sometime farther down the line, with all major issues patched up and resolved.
so i did not back this but am intrigued by it's legacy and pedigree, as i quite enjoy the ultima and ultima underworld games.

i have to say however, im quite surprised by what seems to be a lot of platforming and physics puzzle. more than i would have expected in a successor to the ultima underworld series, it also reminds me of trine graphically.

WTF indeed. Rejected by timing? What, is GoG's curation run by an AI that was updated with the rest of the website? I mean that would explain a lot given their technical prowess (or lack thereof).

I don't understand what timing has to do with curation at all in this instance.
