Publishers decide on Steam, too, or more accurately, the rights owners, which is usually, and in these cases the publisher.
EA own the publishing rights but THQNordic now own the IP (Franchise).

So EA decide on, and still Publish original game. THQ Nordic will now get the dev share of those sales.
THQ own the rights to new releases, sequels, spin-offs, and remasters count as a new releases.
Remaster has advantage, of superseding the original. as most new sales will go to upgrade

MysterD: If Fatesworn is successful, I do wonder if this Remaster will also get more DLC's/expansions - like say Titan Quest Anniversary did (getting Ragnarok and Atlantis DLC's, so far).
Well, they should be rewarded for effort if they go down that road. Support for Titan Quest seems to be relentless since I got it back in the day.

skivvy: Plouging through the reckoning version now on Steam, without the Re-Reckoning bit. The re-mastered version would have to be significantly different for me to invest my time in it. I'm not sure a DLC will cut it. Perhaps in a couple of years when its cheaper depending on how its recieved.

MysterD: Besides a remaster and all - we do know that once RR is out, there will be eventually the Fatesworn expansion/DLC for it, sometime next year.

If the new content's any good, that could eventually be a reason, at some point, to buy RR Edition so that we can also buy the DLC/expansion later.

If Fatesworn is successful, I do wonder if this Remaster will also get more DLC's/expansions - like say Titan Quest Anniversary did (getting Ragnarok and Atlantis DLC's, so far).
I am almost sure expansion-size DLC will be released, similarly just as with Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition.

I would love to know this too. It certainly could use more difficulty modes.

KOA:R out-the-box was too easy, even at its highest difficulty.

Even more so true - if you did lots and lots of side-quests; you could get really over-powered easily.

Never tried the Heart-Core Difficulty Mod for KOA:R either.
Anyone ever try that?

Well, that sucks. Steam users that own the original will receive a 50% discount when buying the Re-Reckoning version and they stated that the discount will only apply to Steam. Connect should be usable for a cross-platform check to see wether or not you own the game. Oh, well. :(
Here's a link.

To be honest, not sure wehter or not I still want to get the game under these circumstances. That 50% off deal shouldn't exist in the first place imho. :/

Yeah, I own the game on both platforms (Steam & Original), even though I'd get the 60% (50% for owning the original and another 10% as an early purchase bonus) discount, I'm not going to buy the game on Steam again. :/

There's one positive though, should they not be able to implement a cross check regarding a discount (f.e. through Connect *wink wink*), I could buy the new The Outer Worlds DLC and Fallout 4, yay. :P

And let's be honest, they probably won't bother with the idea of implementing a cross check. Fallout 4 here I come. :D

EA still retain the distribution rights for the original but i don't know when they will expire. It's kind of shit to not get a sizable discount like 50% here but it's nothing a future sale won't solve because publishers don't go below a certain threshold for how low they will sell it for so i expect in a future sale the GOG version will have a higher discount here then on steam for original owners.

How long it will take though is anyones guess.

I think there is/was some kind of legal dispute over the original game with EA?
At least, that's what I remember from reading about it a while ago.

Yes, there are complications. Sorry though, not buying it on sale. Am just not supporting this endless steam monopoly. Company is going on my not purchase anything from list. Shame for THQ as this colours my impression of them as well.

THQ or EA? Because you are talking about two different games from two different publishers...and one has made their game available for purchase on GOG (GoG, gog, GOg, Gog?), other did not.
