krakataul: THQ or EA? Because you are talking about two different games from two different publishers...and one has made their game available for purchase on GOG (GoG, gog, GOg, Gog?), other did not.
No, THQ. They are the publisher for the game which gets a 50% discount on steam and not here. Nothing to do with EA.
The fact that the original is not released here, sure that’s probably EA, but I am talking specifically about the difference n treatment of steam customers versus GOG customers.

Sometimes GOG gets better deal, sometimes Steam, sometimes Epic, Origin, Ubi, Voidu, Fanatical, Humble... In this case they are giving 50% discount if you own original game (from other publisher, mind you). There is no original game on GOG so why would they give us any discount at this moment?
They gave free Titan Quest Anniversary Edition for those who owned original on GOG (but not for us with physical copy), they are releasing new and old games DRM free, they treat old IPs with respect, so i don't see THQ Nordic as shady publisher (for now:)), quite the opposite... But i can see your point, even though to me it seems little harsh.

Totally agree with the sentiment that the original game should have been here in the first place and it's off-putting as a consumer to see the special treatment for Scheme users. The message I take from it is, "your money is good, but not as good as theirs." But at this point I just expect to pay more on GOG. Call it "the ownership tax."

actually - 'your money is better, so we want more of it' ....

and good thing not many people uses Scheme. what is it anyway? never heard of it
Not sure why people are complaining. The one coming to GOG is the remake (hope to hell it retains all the good bits plus higher difficulty than original). when it due to come here?
Tuesday.
Going to pick it up for sure, discount or not.

I have never got a better deal than steam here. This is the problem. There is a whole thread with games which are better if brought through elsewhere. GOG is always treated as a last resort revenue stream.

Because those who buy through steam get it 50% cheaper than those who buy here.

is the discount not ment for anyone with the original game in their library?

Yes, and the reason is given that they can't give the discount on any other store as the game is not released there. Which is a valid point, but begs the question, we why not release the original here. Still doesn't change the fact that one group is going to get it a lot cheaper than another.

would you want the original? to me that is a buggy piece of shit with quest bugs and graphical draw distance bugs everywhere

Picking up a higher-priced copy on GoG and supporting the DRM-free cause > picking it up elsewhere cheaper, just because it's cheaper.
I know that's an unpopular thing to do, but that's how I roll.

It would be a different story if there were differences in what's offered, mind you. But as this doesn't seem to be the case and GoG is going to get the same content I don't mind paying more at all.

And who knows - the original might still pop up on GoG alongside the discount one of these days. When EA decides to return and release their back catalogue on GoG again.

either i'm misunderstanding the whole point or some are stuck in their motivational idea's.

if the game is already in your library on steam and the developer that puts some effort towards releasing a remastered game with a discount for the ones who already have the original version then how can this be made a subject for a drm free discussion? DRM free or not such actions should deserve some praise

the game was never drm free to begin with but will be with the remastered version.

new buyers on steam will pay the full price as will buyers on the gog version

if you want to buy the game on gog even if you have the original on steam just for the purpose of supporting gog well, good for you

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---

just found the article with the information regarding steam

existing owners will receive 50% discount lasting for 2 months

on top of that there is a 10% launch discount

not sure what gog will show towards discounts

Yes I would. Have played it, its not bad actually. Gets quite boring half way through. Am interested in the updated mechanics, new DLC, and such like too though.

Thanks. This review made very clear to me that I'll wait for a sale (I ̶o̶w̶n̶ rent the original).
