Crimson rivers.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, an atmospheric action/RPG waring its anime sensibilities on its frilly sleeve, is coming soon DRM-free to GOG.com.
Despite being slowly consumed by a curse that will crystallize her entire body, Miriam still has a lot of fight left in her. Hacking, slashing, and dodging the feisty demon hordes now under the command of a corrupted old friend, she carves a path through this castle of gothic horrors with overwhelming gusto.

Beta access keys will be distributed to the Kickstarter backers in the upcoming days.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Fangamer was a victim of Inti-Creates' stunt. They lost time and work/man-power, to tend to the issue... Inti-Creates announced last minute, that a GOG entry would never come, so Fangamer, which offered that option/order/pledge, was d!cked over.

ArtPlay maybe, but only little. As i understand, it is the publisher (?) of the main game and the one responsible for marketing. Still, Inti-Creates, besides developers of the mini-game, kind of "solo-published" it, as well... Hence the issues, (dis)agreememnts, Iga not having total control, etc.

505 was always pro DRM-Free version and ever since the beginning, announced main game being delivered here, as well.

IGA partnered with 505 for main game, Inti-Creates for the minigame. He was fully in charge at 505, decorative "inspector" in Inti-Creates.

Yet you are right. It is a real shame we here, aren't getting a complete package, as we were led to believe. But to each their own. Inti-Creates is the stinker.
Considering how rabid Gunvolt fans can be at kissing ass to Inti Creates, I shouldn't be surprised...

I initially pirated Curse of the moon but then I had to give in and purchased it over on steam. It's REALLY good.
However Bloodstained has a different aesthetic and probable game mechanics... and I'm not 100% certain that i'm going to like it. This time since it will be available here I'll make sure to have GOG's version. :)

pacciulli: "Therefore, we do not sell our games in ways that can adversely effect the product by limiting sales opportunities due to lack of copy protection."

WHAT??????????
Pretty much my same reaction to that statement.

Gog has proven pretty clearly that people are willing to pay for DRM-free games, even ones that are almost half a century old! I've personally bought at least a dozen games I'd previously gotten on abandonware sites or cracked versions through torrents. To be clear, I'm not condoning or supporting that, but when the option was available I was happy to purchase a game I wanted. It's also clear that no matter how sophisticated or new the DRM tech is, someone can and will find a way to pirate it. I think they are only shooting themselves in the foot by not allowing the widest possible audience to experience the game.

On that note, it is a really great game too, the nostalgia for Castlevania 3 when playing it is indescribable. After playing the beta of Ritual, I can say they have a very different feel. Ritual is continuing the post-Symphony style described by that word I don't care to use, while Curse is very retro and feels like it would have been a sequel to Dracula's Curse.

Starmaker: So Inti Creates are frauds who hold their customers for retards. Steam doesn't care if you use DRM or not, they offer it to entice scammy developers onto the platform. And they don't demand exclusivity, at least from indies.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: What i meant, is that this company, is anti-DRM and has regularly expressed their opinion, on the matter. Some people consider steam itself to be a form of DRM, as well as any "obligatory client", too. Also, Inti-Creates, for the PC-market, sell their wares only through Steam. They have also expressed denial in opening up towards other distributors, especially GOG, especially DRM-Free stores in general.

It's their modus operandi. Besides, lots of Japanese companies, hate and fear the DRM-Free feature. IGA will deliver the main game to us, here, but he was 100% in charge of the game and played a central part in development... The minigame, though (which notably, was a stretch goal of the funding campaign on kickstarter), is another matter. Inti-Creates decided that and IGA couldn't interfere. He merely oversaw it, they had control on everything.
Even if they fear it, copy protection doesnt really help protecting the product against Pirates.
Its proven countless times that all you need is time to crack the copy protection.
Someone always makes a workaround so copy protection is in essence just a waste of money.

The only ones it affects in the long run are the legitamete custommers.
If the server go down which you need to check your copy protection your basicly screwed unless you are willing to pirate it.

After going through a good amount of effort, I was able to confirm that they really have no idea of when the game will be completed via the official discord and a rep from 505 games. I'd take that into account before pre-ordering.
Oh hey, hopefully this won't turn out to be another Kickstarter disaster. No matter how nice the game looks and no matter how much I adore Castlevania, gonna wait for the reviews/lets plays to roll in before putting down any money. Cause I sure as hell learned my lesson from Yooka Laylee.
Well, if the mini-game was Inti and they're being dicks about it, then they can blow. When they're bigger morons about it than the publisher of the game people are buying, that's on them.

Hopefully the people who got burned by them turn away in the future. Seems like they like to underwhelm their customers at every turn (Mighty No. 9, anyone?). Well, if they don't want my money, that's cool. I'll gladly buy the main game here, but for that? I got some fruit here, so no danger of scurvy while I head off to the Bay.

MIK0: Still it was the company involved in the crowdfunding, ArtPlay and 505 Games included, which had the responsability to know before if the game would have drm or not and properly communicate it before the campaign ended. The mini game was part of the stretch goals, they got money for it. If they had no control over it it's still their fault.

The list of companies to be aware of is:
Inti Creates
ArtPlay
505 Games
Fangamer

The point is that they parnered together and had to make things works, which didn't happen. They are all so-called professional. When issues arised, backers had to pay for that. The ones in charge of the campaign should have make things clear from the beginning and properly communicate during the whole campaign, which didn't happen: apart from the pr updates with almost no news, they are not even present in the comment section and for every issue they simply have no solution. 505 games is a publisher, they should know better. Then they rushed backers to reply to a survey only to later find out that the the drm-free version of the mini game was not available. Who was in charge of verified this information before? Then they stick to the fact that "it was never promised" while in true it was never said it wouldn't be drm-free as the whole campaign marketed on that fact for the main game (with no further information one should think it would follow the same rules). Then they reassured the backers that the ps vita was still happening but we know how it ended. They could have said that before closing the survey, nothing happened the could have make them change their mind. Only recently with che ps vita version being cancelled they issued refunds, but they were going to do partial refund it the news wasn't spread everywhere. They so much more interested in the money the got and that they don't put to good use than to be true to their promises. So they are all stinkers.
Confirming two things. Game got delayed (again) to 2019. And Vita version cancelled. Because Sony discontinues the support. WiiU has already been cancelled, before, but at least, was replaced by Switch version.

Will wait and see. Am not in a hurry, want a nicely optimized game, with decent performance and few bugs. If they can pull it off, no big deal, waiting through. But if the end results turns into a low quality Japanese port, the likes of which Steam is swarming with over the last many years, then i will have to refund. We already got shafted hard, by the prequel minigame not making it into a DRM-Free version...
The beta is now available for GOG backers as well. Check your survey at the download codes section. Galaxy is required.

"Therefore, we do not sell our games in ways that can adversely effect the product by limiting sales opportunities due to lack of copy protection."

This is one of the most imbecilic, offensively ignorant statements I've ever heard from a developer.

You can shove your games up your ass if that's the kind of idiot logic you're going with Inti-Creates.

ReynardFox: This is one of the most imbecilic, offensively ignorant statements I've ever heard from a developer.
It could have been worse. He could have said: "In order to maximize our sale opportunities, each copy of our games is going to self-destruct in 12 hours, after which you'll have to buy another copy if you want to keep on playing" :P.
