Crimson rivers.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, an atmospheric action/RPG waring its anime sensibilities on its frilly sleeve, is coming soon DRM-free to GOG.com.
Despite being slowly consumed by a curse that will crystallize her entire body, Miriam still has a lot of fight left in her. Hacking, slashing, and dodging the feisty demon hordes now under the command of a corrupted old friend, she carves a path through this castle of gothic horrors with overwhelming gusto.

Beta access keys will be distributed to the Kickstarter backers in the upcoming days.
Best news! Gonna buy it for sure!

Neat. I just wished that we also got Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon.

Really? Last I read, backers who pledged for DRM-free were being shafted - despite the promises made during the campaign, the beta was only released on Steam. Same with Curse of the Moon. It wouldn't surprise me at this point if they announced the cancellation of the physical GOG-version DRM-free disc and acted like backers who wanted it were somehow to blame for not wanting a Steamed disc.

Still, I suppose it's a good thing if the beta really is coming to GOG.

Never heard of this game (busy with old games). But it looks as Castlevania. And that's good.

I thought so too and surprise surprise, here's a line from Wikipedia:

The game is led by former Castlevania series producer Koji Igarashi, and is considered a spiritual successor to the series.

Haha, thanks. :)

Now I understand everything.
I didn't think the beta would make it here after the curse of the moon debacle. The Steam E3 beta was.... good. Not amazing, but good. It clearly needs more work and time, but it definitely felt like Castlevania.
I'm going to get this.

But GOG, you MUST work with Iga and that crew that did the "classic style" spin-off that came out earlier this summer to get it here as well. The bastards did an 11th hour "must be released with DRM" stunt.

I plan to buy this day 1 and take a vacation day for it.

Here's hoping it will actually be good. The 2D prequel is excellent, but I'm not entirely sold on the visual style of the main game.

On that note, what exactly does this announcement do? If I remember correctly, the GOG release was announced here years ago, and this announcement still doesn't have any new information, such as a release date. Maybe it's been so long, they just wanted to remind people that the GOG version of Bloodstained: RotN is still a thing.
Totally wishlisted. Been following this since the beginning.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that i've been a Castlevania fan since the NES days and became even more of one during the Igarashi era (Symphony of the Night - Order of Ecclesia).
So this is major for me.

It's kinda bizarre, isn't it? Main game is going to be released DRM-free. Small retro style spin-off prequel is Steam exclusive. ( Don't know if it also has any other DRM. )

I noticed that too! I wouldn't consider a 4th Gen i5 and a GTX 760 "potato" level. My current CPU is still a 3rd Gen i5, and my GPU isn't much faster than the 760, but I can run 99+% of the games GOG is offering, including Witcher 3. I guess it's rather subjective.

Inti-Creates are Steam-exclusive partners. Not going to happen, unfortunately, alas. They even duped everybody and caused inconvenience to Fangamer service itself, by failing to specify early that they wouldn't have DRM-Free version/pledge option, until 2 days before release of the product. Only main game will make it to GOG and this, only because IGA is the central figure in development. Sad, really. I come from Kickstarter backers and was promised a DRM-Free product. Part of said product, was forced on me through that god damned Steam DRM.

Basically, it is Castlevania minus the name. Project creator, was the developer of Symphony of the Night, the ambiguously best Castlevania title to this very day and an all time classic video game, that defined its own genre and spawned countless clones.
