Cavalary: I never even downloaded a Galaxy installer, so can't be that.
CDPR and GOG, always keeping us on our toes, guessing what gives :P. Their goals are beyond our comprehension.

SargonAelther: I didn't get the email. Who was the sender and what was the subject?

I guess I can kiss any chance of seeing Offline Installers for My Rewards goodbye... Sigh.
Actually this may be the best moment to ask for these rewards to be added to the offline installers unless I don't understand the e-mail correctly or the way the rewards work. But from what I gathered you have to use an account for these rewards to be added. But then if you opt out of this new account for whaever reasons what happens to the rewards you already claimed because the e-mail states you will lose access to the rewards section ? Are they added to your game by other means or you have to log in every time you start a new game to be added for example ?

PaladinNO: and Cross Progression is presumably cloud saves, which failed even more spectacularly that I expected when I first said it would be a failure when the feature was announced.
What is the issue with cross progression? From what I've read people are pretty happy about this feature. And personally it sounds really great to be able to transfer a console save to a PC.

Cavalary: I guess plenty of users received an e-mail about CD PROJEKT RED [...] and an intro stating that
"You are receiving this email due to your use of online features, including Cross Progression and My Rewards, in CD PROJEKT RED games, as well as your participation in platforms like the CD PROJEKT RED Forums."
Nope!
But I never use "online features, including Cross Progression and My Rewards", and I don't participate in the CD PROJEKT RED Forums.

Well, I'm a bit biased since I don't do consoles anymore, but there has been so many threads here regarding broken saves, saves not loading, cloud saves not working due to server errors, and even the game crashing outright until the cloud sync feature is disabled.

Exactly like I predicted would happen when they announced the feature.

Well you can ask, but I doubt they will listen. They haven't listened in the past 3 years.

They don't make it clear, but my assumption is this:
They will enable the Red Launcher's GUI for GOG users. GOG users will need to login to Red Launcher with their new CDPR accounts.

Remember, these rewards are not exclusive to GOG. Steam and consoles can get them too, by logging into their GOG accounts. Now they will be asked to login with their CDPR accounts instead, I imagine.

So CDPR is now forcing us to be fine with a second account created ... orherwise you will lose access to the my rewards items and probably also to the payed pre-order bonus GOG lied to us about. I am so glad that I already decided to not give CDPR another cent of my money.

WHAT are you talking about!?

"Your GOG account and all your GOG purchases remain unaffected. The GOG.com website and the GOG Galaxy app will continue to use the GOG account system. Your GOG account will be separate from your CD PROJEKT RED account."

SInce when did this turn into Reddit, where everything is taken in the worst possible way? :|

*In a redneck accent*: We don't take kindly to any form of DRM in these parts.

We're not on reddit, but some topics are sensitive to folk around here, and CDPR's agenda seems a bit disconnected from what one would hope they'd represent: a game dev that doesn't play the usual gaming industry games.

That I can get along with, no problem. Also why I don't use GoG Galaxy, which offers nothing other than data collection.
I can't really say I see the issue though - just opt out, it's not like anything of value is lost.

And as I said already, and CDPR also said: if anyone wants a CDPR account, they are free to sign up later.

I never used any online features and I don't remember using the CDPR forums, but I still got the email.
I got that email too and it was so very confusing to me...

"You are receiving this email due to your use of online features, including Cross Progression and My Rewards, in CD PROJEKT RED games, as well as your participation in platforms like the CD PROJEKT RED Forums."

So many questions popped to mind: What online features am I using? What is Cross Progression? What is My Rewards and who signed me up for it? Why am I part of CDPR's forums when I have never used their forums?

Then, I had some flashbacks and went on a brainstorming trip. I own the Witcher 3 and have resumed playing it recently. I did download updates to the game and I suddenly noticed a My Rewards appear in the ingame menu, which I just assumed was a tab for achievements or something reserved for an upcoming quest for Geralt. I also own Cyberpunk 2077, almost everything Witcher related. I did add the free Qwent game to my library but have not played it yet. Maybe all or some of these games triggered some auto sign-up for My Rewards and Cross Progression? I don't know. I do love my CDPR games, especially The Witcher 3 and if I am feeling a little bit annoyed, it's just because I am not understanding what is happening.

Sorry ... but I tend to read the whole mail instead of just a section in which I am told that nothing is changed just to say a bit later that this is only the case if you don't decide to opt out. But sure - call me reddit user or whatever but facts will remain facts:

"Can I opt out?
If you do not wish to have a CD PROJEKT RED account created for you, you may opt out of the account creation process by clicking this link. After the account system migration, you will be able to delete your account with the same link.

If you choose to opt out, please note that on March 5th, 2024 you will lose access to Cross Progression, My Rewards, and RED Forums, and all connected data will be permanently deleted. "

They offer an opt-out option not to create the CDPR account. If you choose it, as I did, they tell you --- twice --- that you will lose your My Rewards, Cross Progression, etc.

They should have included what data is really affected for each recipient, i.e. a list of data this is migrated.

I'm guessing that I got the email because I own The Witcher 3 on GOG, but I'm not sure.

Enlighten me, please - exactly what does the "My Rewards" entail (in the different games)?

Cross progression doesn't concern me, and CET offers every single piece of "My Rewards" ever released for Cyberpunk 2077, which is the only CDPR game I play, so I may have been more narrow-minded than I initially assumed.
