MarkoH01: What do you think would happen if customers suddenly would lose their precious "rewards" just because CDPR chose "opt out" to be the default option?
Obviously, and rightfully so, they would and should raise their complaints to CDPR directly if they were by default missing out on content, especially content they had paid for.
However, I suspect many will not phrase said complaint in a manner actually focusing on the alternative and overall better solution: to have the rewards released as separate offline installers.
Others here have already mentioned that, and I agree that is the better option. But as the choice has already been made by CDPR, I see little point in arguing it further here, where no one of consequence will see it. And so, and this ties into the second, and obviously rethorical, question: since the choice has been made...I just find my own ways around the issue, instead of complaining too much that the issue is there in the first place.
I expect you have voiced your arguments to CDPR support directly and / or on the Red forums already.
Frankly, my only issue is that I had to push a button from a security and (very likely) personal data collecting standpoint, in return for something that does not matter to me. If I were to lose any digital rewards or having a hassle getting them back through a third party tool, I can't really say anything against it, because I have pirated so many games in my life, to me this is just a part of an "equivalent exchange". It's a mindset more than an opinion.
I am guessing here, but I think you put "rewards" in quotation marks because you too think the rewards themselves is not a big deal - your issue is that CDPR is forcing us to opt in or opt out at all for no real reason. And on THAT we fully agree!
