Oh, it's quite simple: If someone gains access to that account, they'll have access to your other account. No mention is made of things such as 2FA, and more pointedly, that entire car companies can be compromised, I wouldn't exactly trust the security of CDPR/GOG to clone account data.

Why would anyone gain access to my account THERE but not HERE?

BreOl72: Why would anyone gain access to my account THERE but not HERE?
Because the account there wouldn't have mitigating security features active, whereas the one here presumably, should at the least have a 2FA set up.

Though, if GOG merged their authenticator into a proper one, that would be less objectionable, as you could send one request for both services.

You know that for sure?
In any case - nobody is keeping you (or anyone) from logging in that new created CDPR account on March 5th, and change email and/or password, as far as I can tell (don't know for sure, ofc., if that's possible - will have to check myself).
What bothers me the most is the fact that I cannot decide if this email is really just some type of scam.
Is it so hard to use a reasonable domain and gTLD?

newsletter@email2.gog.com

When I see that, I'm instantly alerted and think about some sweating cellar dwellar in Abu Dhabi sending me that email.
Can someone confirm that this is actually official?
Or is there another way of opting out on the official website?

Getting forced to have a second account created automatically (or losing content of your game) is nothing to worry about at all and it is perfectly normal today as well. I could not agree more - what's all the fuss about?
Meh, it's not like My Awards works without Galaxy, and I can do without DRMed bonus content. Opt-out and enjoy life.

By the way, My Awards unlock without Galaxy on CP2077 (or at least did back when I tested) if you pass this argument:
-gameServicesWrapper galaxy

Huh, i didn't get the email, despite owning most of CDPR games.

It is pretty annoying CDP is doing the same thing most other publishers are doing though. My trust in the company was already gone by the time of Cyberpunk's disaster of a release, now it's just doubling down with all those useless rewards you will need ANOTHER account to access.

Can we get a clarification from one of the Blues on specifically what data is being migrated here?

I don't think I've ever used any CDPR services either and yet I'm getting this email. Could it have something to do with the giveaways for Gwent goodies a while ago, Galaxy cloud saves, etc? Will this affect GOG forum access at all? It would be nice to know specifically what data I'm approving for deletion if I opt-out.

Also, I would like to point out to the CDPR/GOG staff that this sort of thing is exactly what we DON'T want to have to deal with when it comes to DRM-free games. I don't want to have to create another stinking account for in-game goodies when another offline installer could easily do the job, I don't want to have to manage a separate account for cloud saves, and I definitely don't want to create a separate account for forum access. All I want to do is download my offline installers and use the forum from time to time.

If this is anything like Grand Theft Auto 5???

What they did for Grand Theft Auto 5, was that I got to Connect
my GTA5 Game on PS3 to a Website to gain access to a Progression Service...

I Accepted this, & thought it was a great idea, it would even go,
& work through all my Games In 1 Place... It's a decent idea...

Then came the PC Copy?? Which this time it actually
requires that Website Service, instead of being Optional like before...

And like the PS3?? I had no issue Opting into it...

Here is the thing???

I now have the PS3 Game & The PC Game?? Right?

So what they are asking me to do? Is asking me to
Transfer my Data from the PS3 to the PC so that I
can continue where I left Off, & I no longer have to
start over on the PC for the Game...

It's a Great Feature if I decide to sell my PS3 Game,
but I chose to Opt Out of doing this, because I wanted
the benefit of playing on both Platforms...

So now, because I Opted out?? I Can no longer Transfer my
Data anymore, but everything else stays the same...

I just can't Transfer the Data, because I now have
2 completely separate Datta's 1 for PS3 & 1 for PC now...

The problem is??

The PC Copy of GTA5 was later transfered off the Website
& onto a Rockstar Launcher as a requirement, & I didn't like that at all...

The Launcher was ugly, it was a requirement, &
it kept getting bad Updates that I didn't like...

Now, because I got issues with the PC Release & this New Launcher??

I can go back to the PS3, & forget this change ever existed
simply, cause I didn't Opt In to transfer my Data, & my Data
should still be there where I left it all this Time, & I should
still have access to the website for my progression, too...

Soooo?? If this is true for the CDPR Games?? Like Witcher 3?

Then it makes sense there is a CDPR Launcher involved in this...

Basically what your opting into or opting out of, is the transfer of
your progression Data, between 1 Game to Another...

As far as the CDPR Launcher goes??

This isn't changing, you might still be required to use it,
regardless of your choice... & that isn't changing...

The only thing changing is that your saved progression
would be transfered between 1 game to another for this new change...

Realistically, if you only have 1 copy of Witcher 3,
Opting in, or Opting out won't make any difference to you,
because this only matters if you have 2 Copies of the Game...

Now, I Could Be Wrong? But maybe this is how
CDPR is handling a change on Witcher 3, or
maybe they are handling it differently then I
am thinking they are...

What do you all think, am I right about this??
Got this Email and immediately made popcorn before coming here...
Interesting, received this email but don't recall ever installing or playing a CDPROJEKT RED game on PC, only on console. Have Witcher 3, Gwent and Witcher 3 and CDProjekt Goodies items in my library but never installed them to this point. Have only played Witcher games on XBOX 360 and Series X now. Also my GOG email is different from my Xbox account, so how could be "due to use of online features, including Cross Progression and My Rewards, in CD PROJEKT RED games, as well as your participation in platforms like the CD PROJEKT RED Forums" LOL. Did they get information from my Xbox account somehow is it linked to GOG?

Ya, i'm pretty sure this is only talking about an idea
that you have 2 copies of the Game...

So it's only relavent to People with 2 copies of Witcher 3, kinda...

So if you don't? Then it's not going to matter to you...

I think the New Launcher will still be a requirement
for the Game from now on, & you won't have a
choice anymore...

This E-Mail is just letting you know about the New Launcher,
& if your interested in transfering any progression from
a Console, or nother platform to run on your Game for PC...

It's all about the saved progression...

The New Launcher Requirement has nothing to do with the Opt In Or Opt Out...

Can Anyone Confirm this?

The Alternative, is that the Game is being transfered to the New Launcher,
& you might be asked if you want to transfer your Data along with the Game,
& that you will continue to use the progression for it from your old Save??

Or you'll use a completely New Progression, & your old one will be lost...

That is the Alternative to this, & if that is the case? Then Opting in might be a good thing...

But again, I don't own the Game, so I don't know if that is the issue, or not...

MarkoH01: Buy a game and pay good money. Buy it earlier to get the pre-order bonus as well ... be aware that you will have to use a third party tool to mod the content you purchased if you don't want a second account to be created you never subsribed for. That is CDPR in a nutshell ... add to this lying and deceiving their customers as proven when they told GOG that the pre-order bonus is supposed to be available offline as well. CDPR has lost my trust completely - that's quite an achievement given how much I liked them before.

Just opted out. Maybe someone should sue them if they really should remove the pre-order bonus now. (I am not talking about the optional rewards, I am talking about promised pre-order bonus that was part of the purchase contract ... apparently a certain Polish company is not good with the law ...).

N1c3_0n3: first ESG, then biased moderation, then EULA update to strip ownership, now bricking pre-order bonuses unless you opt-in into a new account. snip
This:ESG/DEI

Also, it's almost as if they want to make back-up offline installers...of our data.

Edit: I also opted out.

That, the mail, was a weird one eh? The first half came across as some sort of expectancy in which i had no knowledge of at all, and should feel very sorry about. While the second part clearly conveyed to opt out please . . .

I decided to let it go.

Who knows when a cdpr forum account might come in handy
