I haven't received any such email and don't fully understand what has changed. Previously, our GOG account could be linked to CDPR, allowing us to log in and access their website.

Am I correct in my assumption that now an account is automatically created using the same login credentials as here? Unless I'm deciding to opt out and lose access to goodies and bonuses, as I believe I read in their FAQ, while this is still possible.

If I choose not to log into their website, will they still create that account?
If the answer is yes, will GOG's 2FA be used for verification?
Or is it possible to change the CDPR account password without also changing the one on GOG?

Lazarus_03: Then why did you agree with the notion that it is as if they deliberately gave an option to opt-out, when in reality it was only for compliance?
The question is legitimate and very easy to answer.

Because you can't expect anything else these days. At least you still have the option and are not faced with a fait accompli. So yes, "I'm just happy CDPR has given me a choice and made the opting out process a simple one.", because anything else would be much more time consuming.

Admittedly, it's a little cynical.

Uhhh… no?
You could expect to be presented with a choice if you believe they were obligated to do so:

kultpcgames: No, this has nothing to do with respect, but rather with data protection laws in Europe.

You could've just said you were just agreeing with the "simple process" and that would have clarified your position…

But instead you've tried to justify your agreement that the choice was "given" and even went as far as to say my question is "very easy to answer".
Which frankly speaking, doesn't really sound convincing.
The one thing that annoys me in all this is the fact that we had to opt OUT - the default should be a decline to this, and we had to manually opt IN if we wanted said CDPR account.

Not that I expect anything else these days - even simple things like the box where we agree to receive a newsletter when making an online purchase is usually checked by default.

I see things like this way too often in everyday IT life.

aCyborg: Does this actually mean anything important? It seems like the data is just being moved to a different server that is owned by the parent organization or whatever.
We'd love to know that, but GOG & CDPR have done a bang up job communicating what any of this actually means. Asking sentient cartoon vegetable people from the Kingdom of Princess Tomato would be more elucidating at this point!

Just like they've poorly communicated what will be changing come the 17th.

What are you referring to by "will be changing come the 17th"?

I mentioned this before but here we go again - If the default is opt in and let say you own CP2077 and you have rewards what happens with your rewads if you don't see this e-mail in time? Will you be okay losing them because you did not see the e-mail and what is your suggestion to avoid that when you consider this: there are 25 million potential users who may have rewards; the period of time where you may not see the e-mail could be infinite; there is no back info sent if you actually don't want it with opt in; CDPR and GOG are 2 separate companies and they want to do this this in a reasonable period of time. I mean I get it what you are saying I really do but I also see the problems with the opposite. Obv one way would be if they knew who actually have rewards and just make accounts for them but the fact they sent these e-mails to everyone means they probably can't 100% be sure who uses/have what.

Cavalary: I guess plenty of users received an e-mail about CD PROJEKT RED account migration, with the details also available at https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/cdpr-accounts/account/cdpr-accounts/issue/2608/cd-projekt-red-account-migration-faq and an intro stating that "You are receiving this email due to your use of online features, including Cross Progression and My Rewards, in CD PROJEKT RED games, as well as your participation in platforms like the CD PROJEKT RED Forums." Which is weird, because I'm not aware of having anything of the sort. Is it just because I have Witcher 3 in library so technically could get those DRMed things, like My Rewards, if I'd care as little about what GOG should stand for as CDP does?
I haven't received such email. My GOG account is less than 6 months old and I don't own CD PROJEKT RED games yet. Do I need to worry? How do I create the CD PROJEKT RED account? The FAQ doesn't explain it.
Prediction for posts on March 6th:

"Hey! My Cyberpunk and Witcher 3 progression no longer syncs on my PS5, XBOX, or Steam! GOG SUCKS"

And as I have said before, yes, that would not matter to me. Because the Cyberpunk 2077 CET console has given me every single piece of said "my reward" and otherwise exclusive ingame bonus.

Looking forward to it. My popcorn is already ready, and I just cleaned my stereoscopic glasses. ^^

So you do care about these rewards but you did not tell me your solution that CDPR can use. They can't use mods/framework/ as a official solution.

Offline DLC installer. Problem solved.

SpikedWallMan: Offline DLC installer. Problem solved.
There has to be something online for Steam - after all 90% of the sales are on Steam. Problem not solved.

I thought about it being added on steam as normal DLC but I don't know if this is possible because these are twitch drops. No idea how they will connect to your steam profile and add the product that has to be free just for some of the players and then what if there are multiple drops - they need multiple DLCs for each. Does not sound as a good idea.
