There are two things that matter to all of us gamers: the games we play and the friends we play them with. But as more titles come with dedicated launchers and clients, our games and gaming buddies become scattered in between them. With GOG GALAXY 2.0, you’ll be able to combine multiple libraries into one and connect with your friends across all gaming platforms!

As gamers, we need to juggle between multiple clients to access our games and see what our friends are playing,” says Piotr Karwowski, Managing Director at GOG. “We believe gamers deserve a better experience, and this became the driving force to redefine GOG GALAXY client,” Karwowski adds. “GOG GALAXY 2.0 is designed for all gamers and extends well beyond existing GOG.COM users, into both PC and console platforms.

Once you connect GOG GALAXY 2.0 with other platforms, it will import all your games into one library. You will see your friends activities and online status across connected platforms. All new library and friends features apply to your GOG.COM games and enhance your experience. And it’s designed to protect your privacy – your data belongs to you and will never be shared with third parties. We see it as an all-in-one solution for the present-day gamer.

Experience GOG GALAXY 2.0 yourself — sign up for the closed beta at www.gogalaxy.com and be among the first to get access to it!

Erynar: No. They said "first come first served," which does not necessarily mean "all served." Also, depending on how they're doing the beta, there's a decent chance that they'll add people in waves as they have updates. Certainly, while they're going to want to get it used by a lot of people to catch more problems, they're also are going to want to limit the number on some level, or they risk having too many bug reports to deal with (many of which would probably be for the same issues). And of course, they haven't said when GoG Galaxy 2.0 is actually being released, since that depends on how the beta goes. So, the beta could go on for a while, with people being added over several weeks or even months. All we can do is wait until we actually get an e-mail giving us beta access or until it exits beta and becomes available to everyone. The later you were to sign up, the longer you're going to have to wait, and the more likely it is that you won't actually get beta access - though depending on how many people signed up and how long the beta goes, it _might_ be the case that everyone who signed up gets beta access eventually. I wouldn't bet on it though.
Yeah, that's what I thought. I signed up right away and got access, but with all the concern/complaints, i was wondering if i missed some kind of announcement where they guaranteed if you sign up you'll get access.

I believe they said everyone that signed up will eventually. In fact they plan to have the beta open eventually.

.Ra: Steam has the worst UI out of any client, origin, Even Microsoft, etc. It looks like from the 90's.
It's pretty bad, and uses custom controls for everything; the file browser is particularly horrific. At least Galaxy uses the native OS file browser.

One thing Steam does right, though, is update in the background. I rarely use Galaxy, so every time I do, it wants to update before I can use it. It should always just launch right away.

Do not be excited so much, it is just a library of your games from all gaming clients.
You still need to have launched client for the game you want to play.
But as I understand from options in Settings it will not be necessary later.

To me it's much better than the ugly Win10 UI for some things.

shojodagger: lol. pointless.
Steam already has ability to add non-Steam programs & Steam overlay works on imported non-Steam games. And by overlay I specifically mean it takes screenshots with a hotkey & displays FPS.

Bluddy: There's also a free software called Playnite that actually does what Galaxy 2.0 is supposed to do. And it functions well!

I've observed GOG's programming ability for a long time. As I've stated before, they can't even be bothered to fix the price filtering options on their site to account for sale prices i.e. they can't be bothered to change 10 or so lines of code even though it's costing them thousands of dollars in sales, so why should I believe in their ability to create something better than Playnite?
Because playnite is shit.

How does Playnite relate to store functionality?

Eventually the Final 2.0 will be released ;)

Is "eventually" measured over the span of years or decades? ;-)
Will they have cloud saves for all GOG games?
Import all your games from PC

So, when are going to be able to add non-platform(GOG, Steam, Uplay etc.) games?
Compared to hooking into other launchers libraries this seems like it would be much easier to do.

I wonder if GOG will collect this info or use it somehow. :\
