There are two things that matter to all of us gamers: the games we play and the friends we play them with. But as more titles come with dedicated launchers and clients, our games and gaming buddies become scattered in between them. With GOG GALAXY 2.0, you’ll be able to combine multiple libraries into one and connect with your friends across all gaming platforms!

As gamers, we need to juggle between multiple clients to access our games and see what our friends are playing,” says Piotr Karwowski, Managing Director at GOG. “We believe gamers deserve a better experience, and this became the driving force to redefine GOG GALAXY client,” Karwowski adds. “GOG GALAXY 2.0 is designed for all gamers and extends well beyond existing GOG.COM users, into both PC and console platforms.

Once you connect GOG GALAXY 2.0 with other platforms, it will import all your games into one library. You will see your friends activities and online status across connected platforms. All new library and friends features apply to your GOG.COM games and enhance your experience. And it’s designed to protect your privacy – your data belongs to you and will never be shared with third parties. We see it as an all-in-one solution for the present-day gamer.

This is a great idea, and I hope it's a good update.

Will you also add more achievements for games from GOG? For instance, GOG Galaxy specific achievements for classic titles or other achievements only attainable on the client? It would be fun if every game had a few.

I'm looking forward to seeing it live :)

Oh wow, that's unexpected. Good timing, however, with all the news surrounding Epic and Steam. This is the time to strike with a client that is more privacy conscious than Steam and more fleshed out than Epic. As for me, as long as the off-line, independent installers exist, I'll be happy; that's what I'm here and nothing but that matters to me when buying games here. Even if I don't use it, however, I can see how this will be of benefit to making you more attractive to consumers and publishers, which will benefit me in turn.

valgaav: Interesting. But the Linux support is really long-overdue. Also, Proton is open, Adamhm is making AMAZING Wine wrappers right here in your community. I suggest you don't ignore this.

Every single game I bought on your platform I played on Linux native or using Wine or native Dosbox. Currently, Steam has Proton/Steamplay and it's starting to be the more convenient option. I believe you guys won't let that happen.
Proton is amazing, if GOG implemented something even remotely close to that they would have my axe and I would swear my allegiance to some CEO in Poland. Perhaps. Maybe. Probably not. But still, it would be great.

For those that don't know what Proton is:

Where?

I'm in-between Linux installs but I want to stay current on the good stuff meanwhile.

sound like galaxy 2.0 is basically saying hey we will partner with other launchers since we failed at getting many triple A titles here, just look at the sports and racing section its empty
This is great for those who prefer to use a client, so it's good news, as long as it is kept fully optional, of course.
Sounds cool, signed up. I appreciate the ongoing respect for the user's privacy and their choice of whether to use the client at all.

So, does this mean that games that have achievs on Steam but not on Galaxy will get those achievements on Galaxy? Or will I still have to play those games through Steam to get the achievements? I kind of want to avoid Steam DRM altogether nowadays.

StarChan: I'm worried about the offline innstallers. What are your long term plans for those? Is there any chance that you could heighten their status by increasing their visibility?
avatar
chandra: No need to worry, we are DRM-free first and foremost and there aren't any plans to change that, it won't happen :)
The client remains optional and not required to play your DRM-free GOG games.
Sure, but publisher might think otherwise: they can update game for Galaxy users, but screw users, who use offline installers.

For example: Eador Imperium. Why Russian offline installers still aren't updated?

rainydaygaming: I had my S***m account (with a formidable library) deleted just a few months ago. And would do so again.

firstpastthepost: Why? I have one. I think I've bought one program from them ever. It's essentially there for me to receive free games from humble and then I wait and hope they end up on GoG Connect.
I wasn't happy with some of the decisions made. I also wanted to commit more time to GOG Galaxy and felt like maintaining two accounts is too much of a hazzle. I have a (mostly unused) PS4 Pro sitting here, which is good for any AAA title that might interest me, which rarely happens. And both platforms combined allow me to play everything I could possibly want to play. Pretty much.

I do hope however, that GOG will ultimately get some momentum going. They've earned it. So it'll be interesting to see where this is going.

Drosa: Any chance Galaxy 2.0 can be set-up to download the back-up first and then us that to install the game?
You can do that in Galaxy now.

Have you ever considered a career as a consultant of optimism?
I have to say I'm rather pleasently surprised by the fact that consoles will also be included! I'm excited to see how this will turn out! Good luck to all those signing up for the closed beta! I hope all goes well! :)
Eh, it sounds good but...
I'll keep continue with offline installers.
Thanks anyway for your work.

Does this mean Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a GOG exclusive?
