Natthopper: I've managed to make the BGM play, but all other sounds, except for in the movies, do not play. Any help?
I would suggest re-installing your sound drivers and making sure they're up to date. Check to see if you have accidentally turned the sound volume down to zero on the in-game menu. Check also using launcher.exe > Run options to see if anything has been disabled there.

Did you wait until you played a Dungeon to test? and waited at least 5-10 seconds? The music doesn't always start straight away, and there is no music on the main menu.

Markhavel: Is there any way to choose the level to start the campaign? I'd hate to have to do again the first ones all over again.

Edit:
OK, nevermind that, I worked around it by virtue of the command line. I used the -level x to start where I wanted, saved my game in KeeperFX and subsequently was able to load it through the menus.

devilhood: Nice find. That makes it far simpler rather than testing save game compatibility :-) I started the game from the beginning because it has been many years since I last played it.
Oops, it turned out to be a false hope: once I won the level, the game merely quit just like it said it would do in the readme. There was no way to continue the campaign from there. I guess I'll have to start a new game or find some way to cheat.
I have not posted in the thread yet, but I just wanted to say I got KeeperFX running pretty much flawless. The only (minor) issue that I have is with the scaling of the UI to the left when playing. The tabs are pretty small, while leaving a black area in the left corner of the screen.

I want to give a big thank you to the OP for giving such a clear step-by-step program. Every step worked for me.
Nice mod, but all KeeperFX does for me is that it crashes (app stopped working)

That's a depressing log, and terribly uninformative.

Did you install it according to the instructions? Also, can you let me know your system specs?
You can find info about my computer here:

http://mujweb.cz/nakamura/DxDiag.txt

And yes, I did everything exactly according to the instructions, including mounting the cue file with music, I installed KeeperFX both to the game dir and to separate dir (with copying files after), I tweaked the settings, to no avail.

Yes, I have even beaten a good few levels at this point.

Good specs, your system is more than suitable. First thing that I would double check is the installation, because 99% of the time this is the cause.

It is possible that KeeperFX is having problems initialising the screen resolution or graphics card, because the next step in your log should be: Sync: LbScreenSetup: Mode 640x480x32 setup succeeded

That part doesn't appear to be in your log, so I'm assuming it can't initialise the screen.

Make sure you run KeeperFX as administrator. Load launcher.exe and check Run options > Game speed is ticked and set to 20. Also try ticking SDL Video driver and type directx or windib into the box to see if those help.

You could also go to Settings > try different In-game resolutions. The Menu, Movies and Failure resolution is buggy if you change it to anything other than 640x480x32, but if the above suggestions do not help I would try 640x480x8 or 1024x768x32.

Do you experience any problems with any other games?

I assure you I followed the instructions to the letter... twice. The game itself runs okay.

Here is an event from event log:

Faulting application name: keeperfx.exe, version: 0.4.4.1059, time stamp: 0x52fedb54
Faulting module name: KERNEL32.dll, version: 6.1.7601.18229, time stamp: 0x51fb1115
Exception code: 0xc00000fd
Fault offset: 0x000115dc
Faulting process id: 0x1784
Faulting application start time: 0x01cf2cd9f9a97375
Faulting application path: e:\games\keeperfx\keeperfx.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\syswow64\KERNEL32.dll
Report Id: 37a05e85-98cd-11e3-be1e-6805ca0de884

The installation mentioned Java, doesn't it require 32bit Java? Mine is:
java version "1.7.0_09"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_09-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.5-b02, mixed mode)

However, these errors are preventable by rigorous testing of everything. An application should not crash if all prerequisites are checked and if return values of all library function calls are examined.

I also tried installing with and without nightly patch, same result.

Okay, I have found out the source of the problem.

I have the Eizo Foris FG 2421 gaming monitor that supports 120Hz refresh rate, and my Nvidia drivers have a related option that can be set to either "Highest available" (my option) or "Application controlled". Apparently, KeeperFX does not like being told to run on 120Hz refresh rate, because setting this option to Application Controlled removed the problem and the game starts normally.

Thank you kindly for your replies and for your effort to solve my problem.

I eventually found a better way to advance to the level I wanted to go in the original campaign, so I would not have to make the first six levels, since the savegame format has changed between the original Dungeon Keeper and KeeperFX. In the campgns directory of KeeperFX, I edited the keeperorig.cfg file, there's a section which details the levels to be included, specifically, it says 01 02 03... I simply erased the six first ones, started a campaign on the seventh level, saved, restored the original .cfg file contents and voilà, problem definitively solved.

I was quite determined to do that since KeeperFX appears for now to be the only way for me to have a smooth gameplay that doesn't begin to stutter once too many creature are on screen or fight themselves.

My game is sadly a rainbow-colored mess after the install (see attach). Log is saying:

Error: LbScreenClear: Error while clearing screen.
Error: LbScreenClear: Error while clearing screen.
Error: LbScreenClear: Error while clearing screen.
Error: LbScreenClear: Error while clearing screen.

a whole lot.

Anyone seen this problem before maybe?

Try my suggestion of changing the SDL Video driver in Launcher.exe on this post. It could possibly help.

Hi, thanks for your time, I appreciate it. I tried it and the above error message is gone, but the rainbow is still there sadly. I attached my log file this time. Oh only pictures allowed. Well I can't really find anything that shouts "wrong!" in the log anymore now: Hmm
