Hi !
I get this error every time I start a game, or even when I click on the credit button.
I suppose this is due to an issue with the graphical engine of the game, but running it in compatibility mode doesn't help at all.
I got an ATI hd5870, and I7 860 proc and I run windows 7 64 bits, if that's any help.
I tried to tweak the options in the advanced options menu at start, but no dice.
EDIT: Apparently I can run the game in 1440*900, but not in 1680*1050.
I can start loading levels in 1440*900 and then switch to 1680*1050, and it does work, but then I have the same crash at the next loading

To anyone having this problem - for me it worked to set the compatibility to windows 98 and resolution to 720p. Seems the game does not like full HD.

Didn't work for me. I've tried all the options listed here, and others from other sites and have been unable to get the game to launch at all due to this error. It's a shame as I actually wanted to play it.

Hi, you need add 3 fixes play the game in Full HD.

1. Download dgVoodoo 2 from here - http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2_52.zip

Extract files D3D8.dll, D3DImm.dll, DDraw.dll to dir & change settings in dgVoodoo2Setup.exe

2. Download fixed exe from here - http://dege.fw.hu/temp/Blood2ResPatch.zip

BackUp original CLIENT.EXE & put new one to the dir.

3. Download widescreen fix here - http://www.mediafire.com/download/qberd96bzpeibdf/Blood2_WidescreenPatch_v2.rar

Put the "WidescreenPatch.rez" and "WidescreenPatchNm.rez" files in the "Custom" folder in the Blood 2 Installation directory.
Run the launcher, click on "Display", choose your resolution and click "OK".
Click on "Customize", select either "WidescreenPatch.rez" for Blood 2 or "WidescreenPatchNm.rez for the Nightmare Levels and "and click on "Add".
Whenever you enable and disable the Nightmare Levels you have to add the right patch and remove the other one.
Make sure that "Always load these rez files" is enabled.

Click "OK" and start the game.

Tried all that yesterday. So I installed Windows 7, the game worked fine (had a issue with controls.) Then went back to Windows 10 and got the client error again.

Luckly i've got an old laptop thats running XP, the game works on that so i'll just have to use it on that.

I don't know anything about Win10, but in my Win7 64bit machine it works perfectly.
