Hi !
I get this error every time I start a game, or even when I click on the credit button.
I suppose this is due to an issue with the graphical engine of the game, but running it in compatibility mode doesn't help at all.
I got an ATI hd5870, and I7 860 proc and I run windows 7 64 bits, if that's any help.
I tried to tweak the options in the advanced options menu at start, but no dice.
EDIT: Apparently I can run the game in 1440*900, but not in 1680*1050.
I can start loading levels in 1440*900 and then switch to 1680*1050, and it does work, but then I have the same crash at the next loading

Ok ive tested Blood 2 on a Vista 32-bit computer and it works. Tested on both highest resolution and lower. Some specs are AMD Athlon TK-57 dual core processor @ 1.90 GHz and a Nvidia GeForce 7000m graphics card. It would be nice to know about a consistency in our specs. Everyone say their CPU and OS(Including bit). To find that out right click "my computer". BTW that 32bit laptop is from like 2006 - 2008 I think so it may be working just because its older.
Update: Ran the game longer on the 32-bit laptop and it eventually got the error. How disappointing.

Running on 64 bit win 7 tried to start a game at the native 1920 x 1050 or w/e the 32 inch reso is, I get this problem as well.
Win7Pro 64bit, ATi HD5850, 4GB RAM, I've got a MFC problem with resolutions other (not only higher) than 1440x900 (my native res is 1920x1200).

Well, you're lucky man but that does not work for me :( When I choose "primary display adapter" I've got the max resolution 1280x1024 but when I start the game (in win95 compatibility mode) from in game menu I got MFC error again.

I had similar problems under Win7 x64. This is what fixed it for me. I test played it through the first 3 levels flawlessly.
Thanks HampsterStyle that seems to have helped alot :D
I have been playing around with various resolutions, just a shame my native res of 1920x1080 will not work

Thank god for quicksave, the game is playable but the game crashes every 10 - 20 mins,
heres hoping the GOG team can fix it

PsychosesMan: Have you tried it with everything in Advanced Options unchecked? Did you check the box to install Nightmare Levels in the installer?

EDIT: Also Lithtech seems to really not like super-high resolutions, so see if it works at 640x480 and if so ratchet it up and see how far you can get it without crashing. I play at 1024x768.
i unchecked everything in Advanced and changed the resolution to 1280x960, it helped.
thanks buddy for the tip :D
Got the same problem.
Tried different VideoCards (RivaTNT, Rage 128, Voodoo 2 with nGlide), but nothing worked so far. Also tried every combination from the compatibility menu from 95 - Vista and marked / unmarked everything (a huge waste of time).

Still no working version of blood 2, every 5-15min the damn MFC Error >.<
Any suggestions?

Using Win7 32x Prof and AMD E-350 APU with 3GB RAM...

This seems to work for me, too. Thanks! :)
Ok, after this worked for me for several hours, I sadly get this error again.
But this time I get in at one special place, when loading a new level.
It´s a place when you came from the sewers and climb up a leader to get to the next level. I don´t know the exact level name right now, but maybe someone else has the same difficulties?
I know this has been marked as "solved" but it didn't work for me. I noticed that the compatibility setting defaults to "Win XP", so I changed it to Win 98/ME that solved my problem right away and it has not occured again until now (3 hours in). Maybe worth a try for some.

Just a wild guess here, are any of you windows 7 users using a multi core processor? Some games made before XP had issues with those when they first came out. Blood2 was one of them.
I play Blood 2 and mod it on my PC running Win7 64bit with a quadcore CPU. I set the compatabilty modes for the B2NMSRV.exe, BLOOD2.exe, Blood2SV.exe, and the Client.exe apps to Win 95. I also checked the "Disable visual themes", "Disable desktop composition", "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings", and the "Run this program as an administrator" boxes for all them too. In the Blood 2 launcher options I only have the "Enable poly gap fixing", "Enable triple buffering", "Enable mipmap sharpening", and the "Enable software pixel doubling" boxes checked. I run the game in 1280x960 resolution and the game seems stable. Hope this helps.
