Hi !
I get this error every time I start a game, or even when I click on the credit button.
I suppose this is due to an issue with the graphical engine of the game, but running it in compatibility mode doesn't help at all.
I got an ATI hd5870, and I7 860 proc and I run windows 7 64 bits, if that's any help.
I tried to tweak the options in the advanced options menu at start, but no dice.
EDIT: Apparently I can run the game in 1440*900, but not in 1680*1050.
I can start loading levels in 1440*900 and then switch to 1680*1050, and it does work, but then I have the same crash at the next loading

This question / problem has been solved by PsychosesManimage
Have you tried it with everything in Advanced Options unchecked? Did you check the box to install Nightmare Levels in the installer?

EDIT: Also Lithtech seems to really not like super-high resolutions, so see if it works at 640x480 and if so ratchet it up and see how far you can get it without crashing. I play at 1024x768.

many thanks for your answer.
well, as I said, I managed to get it to run in 1440*900 with all options on :p
now I just need to understand why it would crash in 1680*1050. :)

I'm assuming the game has trouble upscaling the level loading screen background artwork.
Got the same error with 1366x768.

johnsaflo: Got the same error with 1366x768.

That's a 16:9 resolution. I've confirmed that the game works with 4:3 and 16:10 resolutions. Up to 1440x900 as 16:00 then probably 1600x1200 for 4:3 ones, but I can't remember that one for sure.
This is the same thing I started a thread for this morning... crashes at higher resolutions.
For 16:9 I found 720p works.

Try running the game in Windows 98 or Windows 95 compatability mode. Right click properties of either the shortcut or the actual file within the directory(Edit: you should probably do this for every possible short cut for blood 2), then click the compatibility tab and check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose windows 98. Im saying this as a user of Vista 64bit so im not 100% sure if it will work for you D:.(Edit: actually im almost 100% it will work because this is the exact message I would recieve) Good luck and have fun!

Bought the game! I actually had this problem immediatly. I did what was in my last post and it was fixed.
Edit: Wait a second. Possibly not. I think you actually have to run it in windows 95 mode not windows 98. When I exited the game the error popped up again.

I'll try the windows 95 trick it may works.
wich would be weird in fact, since the shortcuts are already modded with some compatibility tricks from the get-go, but I seem to recall that they were tweaked for Win XP, and not 95/98
Same problem here. Win7Pro, Radeon HD5850, 1920x1200 16bit and I get an MFC error and CTD :(
Another possible thought.-
I'm using GOG's version, just to be clear.
Maybe multicore CPUs cause some of the problem. I used imagecfg to force CPU affinity to a single core. I haven't played it long enough in this state yet to determine if this has an impact or not on this problem.
I'm running Vista 64 with an Intel i7 (quad core) cpu. I've not changed any of the default settings for the shortcut, or in the advanced options in the launcher, with the exception of adding the MaxFPS entry to the command-line to combat an annoying screen flickering issue.
---
Definitely seems more stable since I patched the EXE with IMAGECfg. I have also had success playing at 1600 x 900, but cannot go any higher without seeing the MFC error.

Yah I heard about multicores being a problem somewhere(i have a x4 core cpu). Another thing would be resolution. I went above 800x600, and even with my solution, the error instantly poped up as soon as i started a single player game D:. Please tell us how to do this awesomeness XD. Thanks!

Actually, if you have windows XP SP3 or VIsta or Windows 7, setting a game in WIn 95 or 98 mode automatically sets it to a single core affinity.
