real heckin good
it scratches an itch most metroidvanias, and most games for that matter, don't.

This game is Epic (almost)
This game is Epic, unconventional quest and storyline, many easter eggs, and funny dialogs plus typical grinding with easy to learn control (game don't only support xbox pad ).

So much love with a cruel twist
I love it.... I really do.... can't recommend it enough just wish the gog version got the same love and attention from the Devs as the steam version does. The game-play is great although in single-player your first character may get a little messed due to the accidental miss-placement of skill points. There's as far as I remember one (1) chance to correct this in single-player... Multiplayer is good but lacking in playable levels and works of direct IP connection rather than the steam's lobbby style game search thing..... You will also end up not needing gold after a while as there's not much other than ammunition and spell essence to buy. If you do decide to make your own levels the built in editor (available from a hidden room of the second or third multiplayer map) please remember that you won't be able to keep any of the items you place in the mission. Yes this gets frustrating....

For masochists, by the end
Summary - Game for masochists or those with a lot of time on their hands. This is an initially fun metroidvania game (it is four stars for a while) that gets worse over time. Level design is sometimes poor, and some monsters are incredibly irritating (e.g. Jesters and Invisible thieves). I gather this is a metroidvania staple though, so if you like metroidvanias, not necessarily a negative. The game is only too happy to suddenly difficulty spike with no warning. The inventory is a horrible time-wasting mess. After about 60-70% of the way through it turns into a bit of a grind and increeasingly the game seems to just start focussing on being difficult for the hell of it, or to to prevent the player 'winning'. I actually failed to finish, which is a rarity for me, because I simply couldn't stomach the repetition of running through the same non checkpointed endgame sequence ad nauseum. The main character and the humour are puerile. BUT - it is fun, even a bit addictive for a while, and is pleasantly challenging until it tips into being unfun, and I certainly got my money's worth on entertainment time, I guess. However I really hate not completing something I started, and the game devolving to the point of just not being fun is a pretty big sin in my book. I almost feel like giving it two stars, this annoys me so much, but for the time it was enjoyable I think that is unfair - three it is. My advice - if you like metroidvanias, try to find a better one than this! IF you have played them all already, give this a go.
