Tower of Time

It started off as something that could have been one of my favourite games and ended up dropping the ball completely. Alright, lets start with the good and we will go from there. An interesting premise and setting. Nice characters. Neat and interesting locations, rather unorthodox level design. A cool upgrade system giving you a lot of flexibility in that you can always reset your skills. Plenty of loot, both to gather and an interesting crafting and development system. It has a nice soundtrack, but it becomes a bit repetitive after a while. And instanced combat system where you fight encounters in real time, however they become quite stale due to the rather simplistic enemy AI and limited encounter design. The length of the game and the developers ambition end up being the games downfall. The game goes on for around 40-50 hours. That should have been cut in half, because after a certain point you can tell the developers lacked resources to maintain quality. Encounters are basically all the same with different enemies after that point. The tone of the setting is ruined in an attempt to keep it interesting. The plot and characters fall apart in an attempt to keep intrigue and suspense. The story goes into absurd power fantasy territory and obviously falls apart at the ending because of the plot holes and an attempt at a meaningful ending. Less impressive loot the further you go. The map design becomes more stale. I cant really recommend it to the general person, because whatever things you did appreciate about the game, they will ultimately sour the longer you play. It clearly has its strong points, though. If you focus more on the combat and ramp up the difficulty you might end up having a lot of fun. There are things here that I like in this game a lot. Its clear that the people making it put a lot of heart, passion and effort into it. I just wish that at a certain point they said "Okay, lets stop here."

This game is alright but as I was playing through it, I found many typos and bad coding as well as the occasional crash. Typos included things like "" and "" and quite a few times where the Champions called Artara "Aratara" instead. The writing also seems to go all over the place with Champion personalities such as Kane flip flopping constantly. (before certain things happen.) Yes I know it's a lower budget game but that doesn't excuse sloppy work.

Playtime: 7,5 hours (abandoned) ==Review== Ok, so i stopped playing this 2,5 years ago and i've just decided i'm going to uninstall it. It's a perfectly passable pause-based strategy game with a couple of nice ideas. This is the kind of game that gets a 5/10. Not bad, but not really worth playing either. It's completely linear and balance between the characters is kinda wonky. In a world with Baldur's Gates and Dragon Ages and stuff you'd have to be a real genre enthusiast to get something out of this. 5/10

Im really loving Tower of Time, especially now I'm using the time slowdown mechanic, it is essentiial in the combat/battles, as there is just too much happening too quickly, and you will just die a lot if you don't use it. Great atmosphere and fun, glad I got it!

Haven’t finished it, just a few hours in. It has a very interesting approach to tactical rpg-like combat. You got your weapons, your tanks and damage dealers and the like that you might want in an rpg. It is looking forward to spending more hours with me playing it. C’mon son!
