Great game, GOG doesn't deliver.
Fantastic game that doesn't work. You have to use SCUMMVM to get it to work, at least on win11. Bad job, GOG.

Magical Mystery Tour
While Ragnar Tørnquist's masterpiece, The Longest Journey, hasn't aged so well, it's still one of the best adventure games available now and easily the best at its time. That's top notch writing everywhere: the plot, the dialogues, the in-game texts, and items description which are narrated by the charismatic female protagonist, April Ryan. The game is full of pop culture references, and there's a lot of though put into characterization and mood. Some of the puzzles, specially at the beginning of the game might be a little too abstract and frustrating but GOG offers a great guide in the download section. The Voice acting is still one of my favorites of all time. Unfortunately, while the pre-rendered backgrounds look amazing, most polygonal modes are too simple and straight up ugly and expressionless, except for April's. But while the character faces won't properly convey feelings, the voice acting more than makes up for it. Brace yourself, for the Longest Journey is more than just the title. This is a very long adventure game, and while you might not love it in its entirety, when you finish and looked back at all the moments you spent, you'll be glad you did.

An Adventure Classic
The Longest Journey is one of my all-time favorite games. The epic story, memorable characters, unique setting, and haunting soundtrack make this a must play. More than ten years after it's release, The Longest Journey is still a fantastic experience.

A adventure from start to finish
I've always been a little fan of adventure games and so my first steps into this game many years ago is steps I will never regret. Story is about this girl, April Ryan, who lacks the drive to continue with her work of becoming an artist. She's as well tormented by this vivid dreams - or for her nightmares - that seems so real. And suddenly she finds herself on a very - very - long journey that will take her not only through her own world, but through worlds. Welcome to the Balance. Welcome to Stark. Welcome to Arcadia. This really is a long journey, but one you never should go without. It's a story that drives forward all the time. And a story that is really worth getting into. The characterization is just splendid, the dialogues superb and the game play just magnificent. If you're a serious and addicted adventure game player, this is one you shouldn't miss. And I even recommend getting the Dreamfall - the longest journey, which is the sequel to this game. That game has its flaws, but the story.... Let me just say I'm not the type to cry over an ending but The longest Journey has come too close to comfort. So, still here, reading? What are you waiting for, the fate of the Balance depends on you.

an all-time favorite
There isn't a single adventure game I'd place higher than this exquisitely crafted masterpiece. The writing is top-notch, the puzzles are fun and relate to story and atmosphere, and some of the visuals are still stunning to this day. The follow up, Dreamfall, was nowhere near as good, and it was an excellent game. Simply put - it's the most fun and artistic pleasure you can wring out of the adventure genre. And it lasts a very long time without a boring moment.
