Epitome of epic!

I've played this game since it was first released, and it never gets old. The puzzles, the adventure, the witty dialogue, and the overall wonder that two realities bring just sets my imagination alight! I remember a game magazine reviewed this game and gave it a bad rating of 56%! Well, I wrote to that magazine, and demanded they give it a second look. It was then reviewed in a later issue, this time with a much more deserving 88%!

I remember I enjoyed this game a lot! You have to reserve a lot of time but you'll be repaid completely!

Was probably good in 1998

I recently learned of this series and decided to buy all and play all -- TLJ, Dreamfall: TLJ and Dreamfall Chapters. Playing through this game was painful. Some of the puzzles are very difficult but, most of all, the going is slow because your character is so damn slow to walk from area to area. You will click on the exit to the screen, and then press "ESC" to make her run... only to wait 15 seconds while she runs across the screen. Some of the fetch quests required going from many areas and back again, only to have to sit and wait minutes at a time while she navigated the screen. UGH! This is also an old game, don't forget to save. I forgot to save once and lost 2 hours of progress when the game crashed at the end of a chapter. This game may have been phenomenal when it came out but it is very dated today. Blocky, ugly graphics that have not stood up as well as even old Sierra games. The only thing this has going for it is the story and, possibly, nostalgic value if you played this back in the day. Had I known this, I probably would have skipped this entry and just read a plot synopsis before starting Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.

One of the greatest stories ever told

I played this game after enjoying Dreamfall and had a hard time adapting to how horribly aged both the graphics and the engine, full of bugs, if tried to be run on a modern system. Thankfully, nothing ResidualVM software can't fix. Also some puzzle are the most obtuse thing ever, operated on a moon logic, which was a standard level of challenge back when the game was released. Again, nothing a walkthrough can't fix and nobody feel ashamed of using those for the sake of keeping up the pace of the story. Luckily, both writing and voice actors' performance hasn't aged a bit and if you let yourself in, the story will slowly suck you into its magnificent reality and let you travel across the worlds, exploring them from the deepest bottoms of their oceans to the tallest mountains and buildings, hiding all the mystery, all the dark and sinister secrets that keep their worlds spinning. They should make a fantasy/sci-fi epic on a big screen out of it some day, "Lord of the Rings" style.

Do the monkey!

I really don't need to add to what has been said from clearly passionate players like myself, other than lose yourself in a pure classic story that was made by a bunch that loved games. Those were the days. 'Do the monkey'!!
