Travel 2,000 years into the past and relive the final days of a cursed Roman city, where if one person sins, everyone dies. Combat is an option, but violence will only get you so far. Only by questioning an intertwined community of colourful characters, cleverly exploiting the time loop, and making difficult moral choices can you hope to solve this epic mystery. The Forgotten City may have evolved from a mod for an action RPG, but like the mod, this game is in a totally different genre. It’s a mystery adventure game, developed by a core team of three people. If you don’t go into this expecting a Triple-A action RPG, you’ll have a much better time!
I often start a game and leave it there after a couple of plays. It always makes me happy to find games that make me do the opposite. When I turned off the computer after the first play I couldn't wait for the next evening to continue playing it until I finished it. This evening I'll go back to it because I want to reach all the endings. Other reviews talk about it more in depth so I'll just leave this little opinion.
The Forgotten City tells a compelling mystery story set in a hidden city of an ancient world. Featuring compelling charaters, plenty of side quests, great visuals and good voice acting. The small, self-contained 6 hour story is well told, well paced and does answer all the main questions while keeping its characters memorable.
This is not an action game however - so if you're expecting a lot of combat, stay away.
But this is a great time! I tried my best not to look at the advices in the journal only resorting to it when I was really lost (happened once, I for some reason didn't see that Greek temple).
It's a really well-made time loop story, and honestly, kinda made me want to check the mod out to see what's different.
Sadly I got what might be the best ending so I didn't feel like doing the other ones, and, it's hard to give advice and not spoil the game by saying what to avoid doing so you can focus on the other endings.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
