Enjoyed the mod?
If you liked the mod, you’re going to love the stand-alone game. We've taken the best elements of the mod, re-written the script, which is now more than twice the length of the original at 80,000+ words, and added plenty of exciting new twists, endings, and surprises. Walk the streets of a brand new city. Get to know re-imagined characters. Solve challenging new puzzles with new gameplay mechanics, and enjoy an all-new orchestral score and professional voice acting. This is the story we always wanted to tell, for you to enjoy all over again - and again.
The Forgotten City may have evolved from a mod for an action RPG, but like the mod, this game is in a totally different genre. It’s a mystery adventure game, developed by a core team of three people. If you don’t go into this expecting a Triple-A action RPG, you’ll have a much better time!
I REFUSE TO BUY THIS GAME UNTIL YOU FIX THE SHADER COMPILATION STUTTER AND LOADING STUTTER. every unshit engine game has it, chernobylite, trek to yomi, ALL. all you need to do is let it compile like forza horizon, or horizon zero dawn in the main menu before starting the campaign. THATS. ALL. if there are people who refuse and want stutters and real time shader compilation because they are too impatient to wait a few minutes. GO TO HELL YOU MONKEY.
This is a mystery game with a white supremacist conspiracy theory as the answer. (Just because white people weren't there doesn't mean it was aliens!)
The game starts off with an interesting premise, but grows more and more uncomfortable over time. I can overlook the occasional odd animation or camera angle, but not the central mystery devolving into racist nonsense. Dry exposition dumps are treated like a reward for the player doing a good job. The attitudes toward gay people are ahistorical. The portrayal of religious groups exaggerates similarities into all religions being interchangeable with modern, corporate Christianity. Galerius is a lovely himbo who stands out among an otherwise bland cast of characters.
Overall the story seems less interested in actually exploring anthropology, history, religion, or philosophy and more in using those subjects as cudgels for edgy atheists to pwn the Christians.
