Saints Row 2 brings true freedom to open-world gaming. Players can play as who they want, how they want, and with whomever they want in this sequel to the much acclaimed and tremendously successful Saints Row.

Set years after the original, the player finds himself in a Stilwater both familiar and strange and challenged with bringing the Saints back as the rightful kings of Stilwater and bringing vengeance to those who wronged him.
  • Limitless Customization - Play as fully customizable characters that are male, female or something in between. Vehicles can be visually customized as well as performance tuned. Cribs and even gangs all have an amazing degree of detailed customization options.
  • Multiplayer - Co-op full story campaign has seamless integration (for example one player drives while the other shoots). Competitive MP pushes the boundaries of immersion in a living Stillwater environment fully populated with police, innocent bystanders and rival gangs.
  • Killer Combat and Awesome Vehicles - Planes, helicopters, motorcycles, boats and cars can be piloted and used as weapons. On the ground new combat options include melee, fine aim, and human shield.
  • Freedom to Explore - More missions, activities, diversions, races, weapons, vehicles, cribs, city districts, and interiors than ever before. Over 40 story missions with additional bonus missions take place in a transformed Stilwater that is over 50% larger than before.

The perfect sequel!

Saints Row 2, the sequel that was perfect in every way, expanding on the world of Saints Row 1, with new gangs, new vehicles, new weapons, more customisation options, a bigger city, an amazingly satisfying story and best of all, the addition of 2 player CO OP! SR2 is probably one of the best examples of a cooperative sandbox game there is! In a game where players get to complete missions any way they see fit, 2 player only adds to the game! Why not run a muck in the city together? Sample hitting each other with every item you can get your hands on in the game! Race each other to destinations, fly under bridges with helicopter support standing by to revive you after trying something stupid! It's all there! It's all brilliant! Not to mention the story line in SR2 offers some of the most satisfying moments in video game history! (Try and tell me you didn't enjoy every second of the Ronin story!) With Johnny Gat back and as funny as ever! This game has aged surprisingly well given how old it is, the only place it feels a little dated is in the length of the levels...they just kind of cut off right when you think there should be a massive gun fight or something. But that's OK! It's a sandbox! Have the gun fight once you're done!

Awesome game, bad port

Oh, SR2 is a lot of fun! With a truckload of activities, missions and nice customization, SR2 is a game that will be fun for a long time. But beware: The PC port sucks ass. Install Gentlemen of the Row, High Quality Radio and Masamaru's Improved Vehicles(Masamaru also made an awesome HD textures mod, but it's not necessary). You can also install RadeonPro to cap the FPS and allow the game to only use 3 CPU cores. When you have all of the above installed, the PC port is decent - the performance is still bad(Got a Ryzen 5 1600 and an RX 480 and I have 25-40 FPS) and there's still a few missing chunks here and there, but if you look over it you've got one of the best open world games ever made. Splendid open world with lots to do

This is the second time I have played this game through to completion (first was in 2013 on Steam), and I really enjoyed the game. Graphically (perhaps due to it's console heritage?) the game doesn't look great, everything feels washed out. While the audio is generally great (and the licensed soundtracks haven't been removed as seems to be the norm these days) some of the voice work seems to compressed, particular noticable when Shaundi speaks. Although the game has a lot of tounge in cheek activities (such as spraying the town with human waste), the story itself is fairly dark compared to latter SR games. But was great fun to play through. As well as the main story line, there are also plenty of option activities. Each activity has 6 levels and you generally get bonuses after the third and sixth level. I haven't tried beating the game without doing any activities, but they do add some nice perks, such as better sprinting, better weapons, unlimited ammo, etc. I found the game played just fine on my system. If I can remember that far back, I think I played the Steam version as "vanilla" without too much issue. For this GoG playthrough I installed "Gentleman of the Row". Aside from the occasinal crash , it was a stable and pleasent experiance.

Great game but crashes.

One of my favorite games of all times, however, it has crashed two times within 5 hours. Apparently this works better than Steams version.

Excellent game, but avoid the port

Saints Row 2 is one of the best open-world games. It's funny, it has great characters, the combat is fun, the driving is insane, the soundtrack is banging, the sandbox is incredible with a number of varied and imaginative activities that never feel played out or phoned in. All of it still holds up and I will always recommend everyone plays this game. The PC port, though... it's not good. It has been patched to at least work (as opposed to the launch version, which was unplayable), but the PC port is based on an older build of the game. Compared directly to the console versions, there are features missing, balancing issues and a whole host of technical and performance hiccups. Reportedly, someone found the final version and they're making a patch for this, but until that comes out, I can't really recommend the port; it's playable, but it's currently the suboptimal way to experience the game, even with mods. If you own a console, especially a XBOX (because of its b/w compatibility), choose those versions instead. I'd recommend this only to anyone that doesn't have any alternatives.
