Saints Row 2 brings true freedom to open-world gaming. Players can play as who they want, how they want, and with whomever they want in this sequel to the much acclaimed and tremendously successful Saints Row.
Set years after the original, the player finds himself in a Stilwater both familiar and strange and challenged with bringing the Saints back as the rightful kings of Stilwater and bringing vengeance to those who wronged him.
Limitless Customization - Play as fully customizable characters that are male, female or something in between. Vehicles can be visually customized as well as performance tuned. Cribs and even gangs all have an amazing degree of detailed customization options.
Multiplayer - Co-op full story campaign has seamless integration (for example one player drives while the other shoots). Competitive MP pushes the boundaries of immersion in a living Stillwater environment fully populated with police, innocent bystanders and rival gangs.
Killer Combat and Awesome Vehicles - Planes, helicopters, motorcycles, boats and cars can be piloted and used as weapons. On the ground new combat options include melee, fine aim, and human shield.
Freedom to Explore - More missions, activities, diversions, races, weapons, vehicles, cribs, city districts, and interiors than ever before. Over 40 story missions with additional bonus missions take place in a transformed Stilwater that is over 50% larger than before.

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
The port sucks, and though I own the Steam version, I decided to double dip and get the GOG version. This version performs the best without a doubt. And with the right mods, you can make it look better than any HD remake. If you liked this game, you should get it here.
This may seem low compared to a lot of the other ones, but it's a personal thing. the game works very well, decent graphics and controls, no real complaints. I personally don't care for the story line, have no desire to play a character I would have nothing but contempt for in real life.
This version seems to have dealt with the problems that plagued earlier PC releases, and is quite competent technically for the time it was released. I just can't bring myself to play this sort of character, should have researched it more before downloading instead of just "Cool! Free game!"
The game was surprisingly good. It starts kinda silly, but the characters have a great development, the level of customization in general is excellent and the overall plot is great. My only complaint is with the performance of the game, even with everything set to low, the game in some parts of the city has some terrible framedrops. Other than that, the game is amazing.
While the game shares some similarities to the GTA series, it takes the gameplay to an arcade style. I have yet to play SR1 or SR3, so I have limited knowledge of the story of the series - which didn't make me enjoy SR2 less.
What's it about?
Rise the 3rd Street Saints (again) and become the most powerful gang in Stilwater. You do this by completing missions against the other gangs and you gain benefits e. g. faster health regeneration for completing activities/minigames. It's possible to jack cars, air vehicles and water vehicles, also you can buy shares in different stores or your own hideouts.
Cons:
- The port lacks some optimisation for PC, resulting in framerate issues and sometimes odd controls
- Arcade car controls that you'll need to get used to
Pros:
- Sandbox/Open World
- Incredible fun and arcady game. The activities are a lot of fun to play. Getting 100% doesn't seem tedious
- Bonuses are useful (unlimited ammo for certain weapons etc.) and worth getting
- A lot of different weapons/cars
- Different possibilities of character/car/hideout customisation
- Funny side characters
- Death results only in money loss (tiny bit) which encourages to perform more risky/crazy/funny stuff
- As a big fan of Red Faction I love the Ultor references
All in all a good game that takes the GTA approach and converts it into a fun arcade experience, that doesn't take itself too serious. 3/5.
I think Saints Row 2 is just barely better than Saints Row: The Third, making it the best in its series. Compared to other open-world crime shooters (GTA, Mafia, Sleeping Dogs, etc.) it's extremely silly. However, compared to future Saints Row games, SR2 is fairly serious and grounded.
The core experience of the first three games is really entertaining: wresting control of the city from three different gangs, each with a distinct personality, and doing wacky activities and just messing around in the city whenever you feel like it.
It was designed 2007-2008 for the XBox 360. It has some flaws. Most can be fixed with mods. The real problem is the crashing. Sometimes I'll play for all of 5 minutes and CTD (without warning), sometimes for 3 hours with none. I don't know of any mods which can fix this. If you own an XBox 360 (or newer thanks to backwards compatibility), I believe that's a better platform to play this game for the sake of stability.
